Landmark International Hotel - Guangzhou3.5 out of 5.0

Stayed at this hotel druing the 2nd Phase of Canton Fair. Booked it because of the price and wasn't disappointed. It caters mainly to the Chinese folks and everything is geared towards that, for exampe the TV has only one english channel - CNN, although there is a pay channel for english movies, TV programmes, etc. The rooms are very clean and modern looking. Breakfast is adequate although lacking in variety. But for me the place deserves 5* is because the staff are friendly and make the effort to assist in anyway they can. Although, their English is very limited, I did not have a problem communicating with them. The beds are hard (I think this is all too common in hotels in China). WiFi is very patchy so don't expect great speeds. If you are visting the Canton Fair, they have a free shuttle service to and from the venue. The nearest metro station (Linhexi - Line 3) is approximately 15 minute walk as is Guangzhou Railway East Station. Would I stay at the hotel again - Yes (if the price is right). Would I recommed it to friends - Yes
The rooms are old and the air-conditioning suppose to offer heating and cooling, but heating doesn't work. The fitness is bad and old. There is always 3 people at the reception but all 3 together can barely make few words of English. Located 45 minutes away from the city by taxi. Welness is actually not welness and it looks dirty. Restaurants around hotel are expencive and low quality. Terrible wifi. The only positive thing is that you can take bycicle from hotel and ride to the mall wich is around 10 minutes away by bycicle.
Guangzhou's Landmark International Hotel is in the business District. Just 20 minutes to the Pazhou International Exhibition Center by taxi and 10 minutes walk to the subway station. The hotel rooms are very comfortable with excellent city views and Internet access for free. The Landmark's restaurant serves both Chinese and Western dishes.
The hotel is okay, a little old but very clean, very good location and free shuttles for most of the business fairs, 5 blocks away from linhexi subway station. Take the foot massage from the spa downstairs is very cheap and really good. Don't take the breakfast, it's too expensive for what they really offer, there are plenty of other options such as local pastries and stores ( 7 eleven type) where you can buy breakfast.
I, like many, was in town for the canton fair. The hotel is a bit dated, but I felt it was clean and it was comfortable. Some of the staff didn't speak English, but we're always eager to find the staff person that could speak English. The hotel shuttle to the fair was good except on Monday then moved from the bus to the shuttle and it didn't meet the demand, but the quickly found a solution. The location is good 2 blocks from the Westin that has American food options. Wifi was fine but not as strong as a higher star hotel. Wifi was free. Breakfast is included and was set up much the same as the other Chinese hotels by offering both Western options and Chinese. I did get tired of it, but that happens to me in the US too. I will return because of the safe location and friendly staff.
I stayed there during the Canton Fair. The best thing going for this hotel is its location. It's in Tienhu, and block east of the Westin. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Guangzhou East Train Station. There are several malls/shopping centers within walking distance. When I first arrived at the hotel, the people at the front desk were friendly, and check in was done quickly. Even though the people at the front desk were semi fluent in English, everyone else at the hotel were not. It took me 4 phone calls to get someone to pick up my laundry. My room was alittle outdated, but clean. The bed was a queen size and hard like most all beds found in hotels in China. Internet speed was above average for a Chinese hotel and was free. The ethernet cable connection was much faster than their wifi. The bathroom was ample in size, but like a lot hotels in China, it had huge glass window where you can see into the room. A rolling curtain was the only thing that would hide any activity done in the bathroom from the rest of the room. My biggest gripe was that the t.v. had 40 chinese channels, but one English speaking channel (CNN), and one Japanese channel. There are no western restaurants on the premise and NO room service. I was told that I could call the Chinese restaurant and they would send the food up to my room, but there wasn't a menu in the room and you would have to order in Chinese. The worst thing about the hotel would be the breakfast. It was horrible. I'm not picky about my food, and I'm adventurous about trying Chinese food when I come to China, but their food simply sucked. Even though the price of breakfast was included in my stay, I opted for the McDonalds that was luckily just across the street from the hotel. There are also several convenience stores very close to the hotel and shopping malls that are about 10-15 minutes walk away from the hotel had many Chinese and non-Chinese restaurants. Another positive thing about the hotel is that they had 4 shuttles to the Fair from the hotel, and 4 shuttle back to the hotel in the afternoon. I always got a good nights sleep. The room was quiet and the AC worked well. But I don't think I'll be a guest here again.
This hotel was cheaper than other business hotels in Guangzhou so I wasn't expecting much, and this was a valid assessment. The non smoking rooms smelled of smoke, the breakfast was awful and the hotel service sub-standard. At one stage I stood at the counter for a full minute whilst two staff ignored me. Everything was disorganised, and whilst the room itself was nice enough and the hotel was very well located I can't imagine a circumstance in which I would return
This chain has a couple of properties in Guangzhou. I was only staying in Guangzhou for one night and wanted something with good location but not too expensive. The lobby is a lobby, clean and uncluttered. Reception staff are attentive and English did not seem a problem. Corridors are very tidy and clean. Only a little dark in spots due to lighting. Rooms are a very good size and does not seem small. I booked an entry level room that came with two beds. These are larger than normal single beds and are a very comfortable size for one. The bathroom is very modern and with an excellent shower (Pressure and heat). Room is clean and we'll maintained. Actually the whole property seemed clean and we'll maintained. Location is about 20-30 minutes from the Peking Road Mall or there is a big popular shopping mall within 15 minutes from hotel. The IT computer Street is about 15 - 20minutes taxi ride away. International airport is about 40 minutes to an hour away depending on traffic.
