The hotel rooms are spaceful with big beds but the service is not great: -cleaning not always good -hotel staff unprepared (ex: laundrys.. you pay 20 mxn for coins but they did not informed me that I have to buy my own detergent; the invoice did not contained the bill info !!??!!...what could be that hard or not knowing...don't know) For a longer period of time (1 month guest) is not a great place Although the brackfast was ok and the lady's from kitchen were very nice and understanding regarding food preparation taken into consideration european food is very different and not all of travelers can eat anything from mexican tradition or too spicy)
I am staying here again for 2 months..i also stayed for 3.5 months earlier this yr. between the express and Jacarandas, so i have many IHG points and am Spire Elite membership. The rooms are ok, the mini fridge is nice to have...sitting by the pool is a bonus.i have eaten in the lobby restaurant quite a few times, it is not bad...way better than the Express restaurant. The only concern is being a Spire Elite member, i should have been offered a room upgrade.i never asked at check in..when i did inquire, i was told you have to ask at check in. That to me should be offered anyways when you spend 5.5 months this yr in the Holiday inn,
Booked for 12 nights left after 4 nights. Difficult communication with staf members. Not realy putting in the effort to take care of there guest. Giving you the feeling of beging if you ask for something. Train passing by next to your room. Very difficult to sleep. Stayed in many igh hotels.
The room is clean but I faced the lack of hot water in the shower one night. Breakfast for the cheapest option is quite simple, just a few options for fruit, some slices of bread and some hot meal. There is a better colonial breakfast. The restaurant is reasonable, some dishes are good, other reasonable. Good value for the money. Reasonable for business trips.
It is clean, rooms are ample. The pool is very nice. There is a Little Caesar's Pizza right next to it. The restaurant that is inside the hotel (Motril) serves a delicious traditional Mexican breakfast buffet. The last floor is for smokers.
This story is real and frightening. I can supply all the details to prove it, including companies names, people names and room numbers. Stayed at this hotel during the famous EXPO AGRO, like we were used to do each year during more the 10 years. So did many people from other companies that exhibit at the same event. Druing the second night, one of our colegues from Peru got a phone call to his room. The person on the line said that he is at the front desk and represented himself as a police office. HE KNEW THE NAME, FAMILY NAME, ROOM NUMBER AND NATIONALITY of my coulgue. He told him that there is an operation agains the Sinaloa Cartel in the hotel and told him that for his own security he should get dreseed and go out so someone will take him to a "safe house" later he told him to go to a near by store, get a mobile phone, activate it and call a certain number, when my coulge got suspicios the person told him that if he doesn't follow the instruction, they will come to pick him up from his room!! The person from Peru stayed at his room all name with his cloths on and didn't know what to do. He was afraid to use the phone and decided to in the morning he will head directly to the airport and leave the country. in the morning we all when to the managment of the hotel, just to find out that there were more people with the same story (a platics factory from Canada etc.) some decided to leave imideatly to to ariport and leave their belogings in the event and not come back. we all had the feeling that the "security staff" from the hotel had part in that (when we talked with them they knew some details that weren't given to them by us!!). The hotel satff didn't see worried. they sadi that someone hacked into the reservation system but only got the names and room numbers. nothing to worry about... also they said that they will take the "safety measures" to make that nothing will happen. I convinced my coulegu from Peru to stya one more day and leave the show the folloing day. The following day we checkedout, a day earlier then schedueled. our rooms (3) where pre-paid. the hotel staff didn't see any reason to give us a credit for the last night, altought we expained that we didn't feel safe. we asked to speak with the reservation manager (Maira) but she didn't think it's important enough and sent her secretary to speak with us althoug she didn't know nothing about the events. We will definitely come back to this event again, but never again to this hotel.
I was shocked a brand such as Holiday Inn designed, built and accepted a compressor attached to the hotel that basically pumped a deep thundering vibration into the building. The low frequency, deep vibrating noise of this rumbled through the entire building and as soon as your head hits the pillow it conducts through your bones and ended up giving me headaches, nausea and pretty much zero sleep. I changed room after the first night to move up 2 floors from the 3rd to the 5th, no change. I tried on the second night to go comatose on local tequila, no change. I tried the 3rd night to use my ear plugs and zero alcohol, no change. Pillows don't help, turning off the rooms AC did nothing to help. It could not be solved. I will never stay here again. Staff are nice, rooms are ok but the deep, low frequency hum from the compressor means its a total no go.
I have stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions. Staff are friendly and professional. Parking garage under the hotel provides good security. Breakfast is good. One watch-out is the noise from the train which passes quite often. Rooms at the front of the hotel away from the train are recommended.
Rooms are clean, service is good, food is reasonably good (be careful with spicy food if you are not from Mexico and in my opinion prefer to order the "a la carte" instead of the buffet). Internet is not good, but it is free. All in all, a reasonable price and place to stay for business. Try to ask a room far from the railroad, the train is quite noisy.
CAVEAT EMPTOR: Literally impossible to take a shower. The water goes back and forth from pipping hot to freezing cold in a few seconds, so it is impossible to set the shower to any temperature. Very frustrating and quite a challenge to accomplish to get clean in the morning. The food is way below average, you can hear the guest in the next room breathing (just imagine the rest) and the manager is never on the premises. . Oh, I almost forgot. There is a train that pases literally next to the hotel, so twice at night you will be waken up by the noise. Something they "forget" to tell you about when you check in. IN A NUTSHELL: If possible stay anywhere else, it doesn't matter where, just somewhere else.
