It is clean, rooms are ample. The pool is very nice. There is a Little Caesar's Pizza right next to it. The restaurant that is inside the hotel (Motril) serves a delicious traditional Mexican breakfast buffet. The last floor is for smokers.
This story is real and frightening. I can supply all the details to prove it, including companies names, people names and room numbers. Stayed at this hotel during the famous EXPO AGRO, like we were used to do each year during more the 10 years. So did many people from other companies that exhibit at the same event. Druing the second night, one of our colegues from Peru got a phone call to his room. The person on the line said that he is at the front desk and represented himself as a police office. HE KNEW THE NAME, FAMILY NAME, ROOM NUMBER AND NATIONALITY of my coulgue. He told him that there is an operation agains the Sinaloa Cartel in the hotel and told him that for his own security he should get dreseed and go out so someone will take him to a "safe house" later he told him to go to a near by store, get a mobile phone, activate it and call a certain number, when my coulge got suspicios the person told him that if he doesn't follow the instruction, they will come to pick him up from his room!! The person from Peru stayed at his room all name with his cloths on and didn't know what to do. He was afraid to use the phone and decided to in the morning he will head directly to the airport and leave the country. in the morning we all when to the managment of the hotel, just to find out that there were more people with the same story (a platics factory from Canada etc.) some decided to leave imideatly to to ariport and leave their belogings in the event and not come back. we all had the feeling that the "security staff" from the hotel had part in that (when we talked with them they knew some details that weren't given to them by us!!). The hotel satff didn't see worried. they sadi that someone hacked into the reservation system but only got the names and room numbers. nothing to worry about... also they said that they will take the "safety measures" to make that nothing will happen. I convinced my coulegu from Peru to stya one more day and leave the show the folloing day. The following day we checkedout, a day earlier then schedueled. our rooms (3) where pre-paid. the hotel staff didn't see any reason to give us a credit for the last night, altought we expained that we didn't feel safe. we asked to speak with the reservation manager (Maira) but she didn't think it's important enough and sent her secretary to speak with us althoug she didn't know nothing about the events. We will definitely come back to this event again, but never again to this hotel.
I was shocked a brand such as Holiday Inn designed, built and accepted a compressor attached to the hotel that basically pumped a deep thundering vibration into the building. The low frequency, deep vibrating noise of this rumbled through the entire building and as soon as your head hits the pillow it conducts through your bones and ended up giving me headaches, nausea and pretty much zero sleep. I changed room after the first night to move up 2 floors from the 3rd to the 5th, no change. I tried on the second night to go comatose on local tequila, no change. I tried the 3rd night to use my ear plugs and zero alcohol, no change. Pillows don't help, turning off the rooms AC did nothing to help. It could not be solved. I will never stay here again. Staff are nice, rooms are ok but the deep, low frequency hum from the compressor means its a total no go.
I have stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions. Staff are friendly and professional. Parking garage under the hotel provides good security. Breakfast is good. One watch-out is the noise from the train which passes quite often. Rooms at the front of the hotel away from the train are recommended.
Rooms are clean, service is good, food is reasonably good (be careful with spicy food if you are not from Mexico and in my opinion prefer to order the "a la carte" instead of the buffet). Internet is not good, but it is free. All in all, a reasonable price and place to stay for business. Try to ask a room far from the railroad, the train is quite noisy.
CAVEAT EMPTOR: Literally impossible to take a shower. The water goes back and forth from pipping hot to freezing cold in a few seconds, so it is impossible to set the shower to any temperature. Very frustrating and quite a challenge to accomplish to get clean in the morning. The food is way below average, you can hear the guest in the next room breathing (just imagine the rest) and the manager is never on the premises. . Oh, I almost forgot. There is a train that pases literally next to the hotel, so twice at night you will be waken up by the noise. Something they "forget" to tell you about when you check in. IN A NUTSHELL: If possible stay anywhere else, it doesn't matter where, just somewhere else.
I get to spend a lot of time on this hotel because of work. So I know this one very well. Sometimes you choose a brand for the points or rewards... Right? How ever this particular hotel recently gave a huge maintenance and upgrade to rooms. Changed restaurant service and menus and also the gym. If it used to be good now is amazing! Super friendly personell, the best breakfast buffet and mexican antojitos buffet for dinner too. Located next to a new and growing area from town where you can find shopping malls, movies, bars. You name it. Great hotel and services!
For the area I consider this to be a good hotel in good location. Have transportation to the nearby restaurant area this makes the service more complete. They offer continental breakfast with average quality, good assortment for a 3 star hotel. Cleaning was well executed. Good internet signal. Attendance at reception was good, a little slow regardless that I had already made their only advance option for accelerated checkout. I consider that they do need to improve overall room's doors, as wood structure is weak and didn't provided the best comfort in security.
I just spent 5 weeks at this hotel for work so I believe that I can speak with authority regarding their services. Positives: Requested microwave and fridge for my room and got them within 10 mins after request, various services offered (gym - hint you have to turn on the electrical machines (just look for the buttons), transportation) Negatives: you need to leave one of the room keys in the room slot that allows the electricity in the room to function (including the air conditioning, the fridge). The food in the hotel is not good, eat somewhere else whenever possible.A great alternative option are three restaurants nearby. The best (and most modern) is called "El Tres"(I'll review that place later). In the same plaza, there's Sitio which is one of three restaurants owned by the same person for which you can order off of any of the three menus. The transportation service seems to never be available (we were able to use it once in 5 weeks). We asked about getting our breakfast (which was included) packed so that we could take with us the next morning (before 630am) so that we could go into work and they kindly agreed and delivered on the agreement (they called it a box lunch). That was the first and last time. After that one time, they gave us a variety of reasons why they could not/would not do it, which was perplexing since we had had the service there. The worst was when we made the same request and they agreed and then did not deliver on their promise in the morning, so we had nothing to eat and no way and no time to get anything to eat for breakfast the next morning when we came to collect our "box-lunches" - didn't even let us know in advance that they wouldn't be able to comply. The laundry service put holes in 9 (nine) of my coworker's shirts (Basically it looked as though they used some type of clip/pin in each of them), and then she is still waiting for resolution/payback. Another coworker had a cooked roach (yes the creepy drawing kind) in his food the first night that he stayed there. Once after coming back to my room, it had been cleaned all save a bloodied tissue that was on the floor in the bathroom next to the trash-can (that's correct, not in the trash-can), but next to it. One morning at breakfast I saw the employee who was setting up putting the pancakes in the serving tray with his bare hands (no gloves). On the weekends, breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant next door (called Motril), the first morning I went there, the security guard came up to me to let me know that I could only eat from the cold foods section of the buffet with my coupon (which was super helpful of him) but I was in the process of getting the information of how the buffet worked from the wait-staff at the time. I felt like I had somehow crossed a line with the secret service (the guard had an ear-piece and a suit), very uncomfortable feeling for a paying guest. Makes me wonder what the other hotels in the area are up to since their claim is that they are the best in Irapuato.
I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Irapuato at least 6 times this year for business. It has a central location that is close to all the good restaurants, is clean, has a good restaurant, and an amazing staff that is always ready to help. They have drivers that are more than willing to drive you to any local destination that you wish to go (just make sure to tip them). Highly recommended place to stay if your in the area.
