From the moment you step inside the gates you are transformed back in time , to old world Mexico charm !! It truly lives up to the boutique aspect & the rooms are nicely furnished & comfortable . A few blocks walk to shops , banks & plenty of places to eat . Klix is the director and is always there to help with anything on your mind . This was my second stay @ Villa Ganz and know it wont be our last .

I stayed the last weekend of February for 3 days. The last time I was at Villa Ganz was 2014. The incredible service and product remain! This is a boutique hotel but it feels like you are staying at a relative's home. I always feel very welcome and comfortable here. The lush backyard, full of trees and bushes, and the terrace patio are perfect for breakfast and a drink in the evening. Guestrooms are individually designed so you should request to see some vacant rooms to get an idea for a future stay. I enjoyed the plush towels, bathrobe and a basket of bath amenities. Plus a welcome gift of fruit and wine. You are minutes away from many fine restaurants. A great thing about Villa Ganz is the quietness of the property. If you are looking to relax this is the place. Finally, I must mention the genuine friendliness of the staff and their desire to serve. There is nothing they won't do for you.

I am typically am rather verbose in my reviews, but I was left slightly speechless by this place and unfortunately pictures just can't do it justice. Every little detail is attended to, from the 20 real candles lit nightly along the staircase, to the fruit and wine in your room upon check in, the nightly "happy hour" in the garden terrace also with candles and a fire in the fireplace, and the absolute charm of the building and rooms. You feel as though you are in a classic, timeless home, but without the stuffy "old" feeling that sometimes ensues. The staff was incredibly helpful and made sure we had anything we could need. Should we end up in Guadalajara again, we will definitely be back!

We stayed five nights in lovely Villa Ganz and very much enjoyed it. Our room, number 17, was very pleasant— light and airy, with a small private terrace. Beds were great, linens top notch, plenty of hot water, everthing very clean. Breakfast in the patio was great. Continental breakfast came with our room but you can order additional heartier fare—omelets, french toast, etc.,—and the food was always delicious. The staff was always super friendly, professional and helpful. The shady garden was a haven in the hot afternoon. We also loved the location. Be sure to walk around the neighborhood and see the Art Deco and early modernist houses, including two Barragan residences. (You can go into both of them.) Also lots of excellent restaurants. (Don’t miss Allium, right across the street from Villa Ganz!) Staying here was like being in an elegant private home and we felt as welcome as if we personal friends!

I am shocked and upset that this hotel has a certificate of excellence. We booked 3 nights based upon the glowing reviews and certificate. Upon arrival we were extremely shocked at the reality of the hotel. Our room was dirty with a stained, old couch. The chair by the desk was stained as well. The carpets were dirty and the bathroom was old with an awkward tub that was old and patched. Nothing about it was as described. We have traveled in many different countries and cities in the U.S. We have stayed in many different types of hotels, from small motel like ones in the National Parks to luxury hotels for a splurge. We've traveled to Mexico numerous times and stayed in a wide range of places from upscale luxury, to roadside motels in Rosarito, to small local inns in Purepero. We have no issue staying in places, as long as they are clean and advertised honestly. At the Villa Ganz we felt we had been swindled and lied to. We packed up and told them we wouldn't be staying, but they refused to refund us any of the money for our 3 night stay. We tried to book another hotel in the city and couldn't find any available for the days we needed, only partial parts of it. We ended up booking a flight home the same day we arrived rather than stay at the hotel. We are out quite a bit of money and missed out on a stay in Guadalajara that we were looking forward to. I would not stay at the hotel and believe in good faith TripAdvisor should research the accuracy of other reviews. The hotel is not up to par with the advertising. I realized upon coming back home that there are no pictures of the bathrooms- because they are so out of date and only strategic photos of rooms. Travelers beware- the Villa Ganz is dishonest and I wouldn't feel comfortable booking a room there.

In my experience, what makes a successful boutique hotel is the quality of the staff. By this metric, Vila Ganz was superb. The front desk was manned 24 hours a day by a variety of friendly, helpful, English speaking staff who were able to organize whatever we needed by way of tours, taxis and restaurant bookings. The hotel itself exudes a sense of history, and the daily happy hour provided a relaxing break after a day of touring. The gardens are shaded and tranquil.

Our group of 13 mature tennis players and spouses stayed for a week in 7 rooms, so we gave the place a full workout! Armando, Polo and Monserat as well as Sally and all the other staff were attentive beyond words. From happy hour to breakfast, around the clock they lit the fire, called taxis and recommended great restaurants.

What to say about this hotel is impossible as it was the best experience we had in Mexico. There service was beyond excellent. Great location, restaurants everywhere. This is a must stay if you want the feel and look of Mexico.

According to the reviews, this was one of the top boutique hotels in Guadalajara. Keep in mind it is not an Hacienda, it is antique house in the middle of the city. The service and staff was excellent and the rooms were comfortable and super nice. They have complementary wine tasting every night. It is a pet friendly hotel, however the dogs cannot use the garden, you will have to take your dog outside. The complementary breakfast was OK. There are good options to eat close by the hotel, the Pizza next door is delicious. Do not go to the Indian restaurant near by.

Spend two night in this lovely hotel. Felt like a guest in magnificent mansion. My room was huge and had a hamaca, a feature typical of southeast Mexico, a bit foreign to Guadalajara but still a nice touch of long-gone amenities in grand houses in old Mexico. The staff was very polite and gentil. The location of the hotel is impeccable, centric and close to fine restaurants, lovely boutiques and bookstores, on a very walkable lovely area of the city. I’ll come back soon.
