Lorne Hotel Glasgow

Having read some of the comments on here saying that the Lorne wasn't very good and some even seemed traumatised by their visit. I was wondering if I had made the right choice. I did. The check in was done in seconds and the room (221)Was a lot larger that the shoebox I was expecting and a few minutes after putting the heating on, the room was nice and cosy. The room could have benefited from a lick of paint and new wallpaper behind the bed but for the £50.15 We paid, I was more than happy with room. The Kelvin bar and the Bilberry cocktail bar were/are great and the staff were all friendly enough. I didn't find it that expensive for drinks either but maybe that was because we were at a wedding in Livingston, which was held at the McDonald Houston hotel and that was ridiculously expensive. Never had anything to eat at the on-site restaurants so I can't comment, apart from saying that the Indian restaurant looked very busy for a Tuesday night. Booked up for Deacon Blue at the Hydro (which was less than a fiver in a taxi to get there and a 10-15 minute walk back) so we'll be looking to stay there again next December. Oh, if you get the chance to see Blondie, GO , they were brilliant. Can't believe Debbie Harry is 72 !!! Her voice is still amazing.

We stayed here for a night and chose the hotel because it is located very close to Mother India, our favourite Indian restaurant. We have stayed here before so we know it’s cheap and cheerful. The bed was not very comfortable and the shower needed a good clean in the corners, but the bar was atmospheric and the breakfast was fine. It was ok for one night.

We stayed here for one night as we were going to a concert and it was very reasonably priced for bed breakfast and evening meal in the Indian restaurant which is part of the hotel . We weren’t expecting anything amazing to be honest so we’re pleasantly surprised with the modern and clean reception and bar area . We were quickly checked in by Catriona who was really friendly and helpful and a brilliant member of front of house staff . Our room was plenty big enough for the two of us and the bathroom was clean with complimentary toiletries supplied . We had a drink before our meal and found the prices very reasonable. Our starters in the restaurant were delicious but unfortunately the curries were totally inedible . They tasted of pure salt and so did the rice . The waitress was very apologetic and all the waiting staff in the restaurant were very attentive and friendly . It was a real shame that the main courses were so poor . The only other negative point was the complete lack of help we received from the man who had taken over on reception . When we asked if he had a number for a local taxi firm to bring us back from the concert his reply was an abrupt “Google it!!!!” Definitely not a person who should be working on a reception desk ! We had a good nights sleep ( very comfy bed ) and the breakfast selection was fantastic with a wide choice of cereals ,fruit and yoghurts and hot tasty food . All in all we had a pleasant stay and the two negative points wouldn’t stop us from returning .

We stayed in the Lorne Hotel when attending an event at the SSE Hydro (Little Mix concert). The hotel is located within 10 minute walking distance to the venue. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. There's 2 restaurants, one Indian and the other serving traditional British food. We ate in the hotel pub. The food was fantastic and piping hot. The batter on the fish was lovely and light. There's also a cocktail bar which although doesn't serve cocktails late at night, residents were still able to socialise with a good selection of wines, beers and spirits. The bedroom wasn't the largest room we've stayed in but it was clean, comfortable and quiet. All in all, a great hotel and we would stay there again.

The most positive adjective that can be attributed to this place is : DECAYING!! Everything inside must be renewed. It might be clean but it looks absolutely dirty because of the colour that the ages have left over anything. Very poor breakfast in a very nice restaurant

Can't cope with large numbers...service terrible and untrained staff. Food was sparse in spite of overpriced bill. They should not offer their services if they can't deliver. Looking at the previous reviews this hotel is really going downhill...or perhaps already has hit the bottom?

Really very disappointing hotel. Our shower drain was blocked! The room safe wasn’t working asked 3 times to repair it with no joy. The joke is the safe isn’t even attached to the wall. 😡 Carpets really grabby, so was the throw and the scatter cushion on the bed. The air conditioning in the room really didn’t work. Had to get them to reset it twice. Breakfast was over cooked. Poached eggs were hard after asking for soft. Tea was ready made in a flask! Yuck 🤢 The room doors didn’t seal properly, the light from the passage poured in. Had to ask for more tea bags, towels and there weren’t any tissues in the room. There was no parking for our car, we were juggling, pay and display machines and moving our car. Will definitely not be staying here again.

This hotel surpassed all my expectations, situated 15 mins walk to the SSE Hydro, easy to get to and near the motorway. Very nice staff and very good accommodation easy on street parking but not secure.

Hotel looks lovely at first glance lovely modern reception and very friendly staff. How ever rooms very a big let down . Small ( ok we could cope with that only here for 2 nights) Dirty ... that we could not cope with quilt was only put in half way up cover the tucked into bottom of bed we removed to put quilt on full up and notice quilt was dirty grey colour but even worse there was a great big yellow stain on the actual quilt cover on the side I would be sleeping under . skirting board opposite where my husband lay in bed, bareing in mind room very small looked like it had vomit stuck all along it . We are not overly fussy and realise the room only cost £130 for 2 nights over weekend but come on at least basic cleanliness should be expected. Room was cleaned once we complained no refund offered in fact was almost over charged by £50 on check out until we queried bill could not be bothered at that point by fighting further . Best piece of advise I could give you is JUST DONT STAY here until hotel sack there hotel services manager and get someone in who can do the job .

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was filthy, I have attached photos of the carpet for reference. The bed was extremely uncomfortable so I barely slept and the smell of the whole place was so bad I heaved walking through the corridors. I booked for 4 nights, stayed the first night because I had arrived late but checked out the following morning and booked another hotel last minute. I couldn’t stay there any longer. I didn’t bother asking to change rooms because my colleague also had a room that was just as bad. When I arrived at the check in desk of the hotel I moved to that morning, the staff member actually told me that the Lorne is known for “charging by the hour” which only confirmed my suspicions and is what mostly made me feel uncomfortable being there. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
