Stayed at the Ivy Hill Hotel for a couple of nights visiting family for Christmas. An excellent hotel for a quiet break but within easy reach of London. Staff were fantastic. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast - both very nice. We were given a room upgrade and it was more spacious than our previous visit - very comfortable. Would definitely book again.

Large, very clean room, with plenty of storage space too. The bed was really comfy and big too. Great shower in the bathroom, some more surface space would have been handy in there though. The pipe system is really loud between rooms, which I'd say was the only downside.

So, this is a Best Western, and accordingly my expectations were tempered before I arrived. On the plus side, the staff were outstanding throughout! On the rather more sizeable minus side.... The "suite" as described on the booking page is nothing of the sort. In fact I did question I was in the right room and was advised, "yes sir, that is our suite". No, that is a standard room with a 4 poster bed! Speaking of the bed. Sorry but the idea is to have a firmish mattress and softish pillows - not the other way round! That has to be the softest mattress I have ever slept on. Food is what you would expect. Not bad, but not memorable either. Overall. If you have the choice, pick somewhere else. I am sure there are better nearby. If you don't have the choice, don't pick the "suite". You will not be happy with the premium charged for what is little more than a standard room.
