My husband and I have just returned from our 3rd holiday in Gran Canaria. We first stayed at Catarina 28yrs ago on our honeymoon. What a wonderful change! We arrived on the 10th July, first opening day after extensive renovations. The staff were extremely helpful. We arrived at 21:15 and thanks to Receptionist, Oscar we were able to have our evening meal. Lovely greeting from Noe on our first evening. Yes, the renovations were not completed and there were still workmen about, but the staff, were all apologetic about this and as the week went on a lot more of the work was completed. There were some minor disruptions, but this did not spoil our holiday. Thanks very much to Isobel and Tomy for their very good treatment of us. The Hotel is clean, fresh towels everyday, food was great, staff helpful, room was very nice. The animation team were great with the children. I loved the Aqua Gym. The evening entertainment was not that good, but most enjoyable for the children. I understand that there will be more in-house entertainment soon. We would certainly recommend Catarina hotel. Thanks to Jamie our TUI holiday Rep Thank you for a lovely holiday
Second time here in this hotel. Near everything walking distance of beach bars reataurants bus stop taxi. Lovely pool area . We stayed bed n breakfast basis. Fantastic breakfast in morning always places to sit. Staff lovely helpful. We had 5th floor room fantastic views well worth a visit .
Our first holiday abroad in years, had a great time. Great food, plenty of choice. Hotel spotlessly clean, very friendly staff. Well situated not far from the dunes! Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.
Well, we had such a wonderful time in November last year at the IFA Catarina that we have just booked to go again for 10 days on 19 March 2018 and cant wait. It has gone fully inclusive since our last visit but sure we will enjoy the extra drinks. Not sure if a packed lunch scheme is available for those spending a day at the beach, but hopefully someone will be able to confirm this and thank you.
What an experience ,,, hopefully never to be repeated . Arrived on 13 and by the 14 bars were shutting down and in came the builders ? Shabby dated and scruffy , all management especially customer relations rude arrogant and uncaring. As for the noise WoW horrendous experience all in all save ya money and holiday go so we're else
There was no choice of bars when we arrived the indoor bar closed the night we arrived so other guests informed us, then on day 2 the pool bar closed and the renovations had started, had to be outside at night for the entertainment only place with a bar, we have never stayed in a hotel less than 4 star, this place felt like it must have only been 2 star, very very disappointed, the rooms were clean and the gardens were lovely the only positives of the week.
It was a very nice and friendly hotel where the rooms are clean and the staff was very kind. It situated near the beach and the Maspalomas sand dunes. The food was delicious but we missed the traditional Spanish food like Paella or Tapas.
Hotel clean, friendly staff, fast check in. The room was dated no tea making facility or welcome pack not enough plug sockets. No welcome pack in the bathroom which has a bath with poor quality shower over it. The beds are like sleeping on a plank of wood came home with bad backs. We had to pay for wifi which allowed 2 devices if you need more you pay again. Had to pay a deposit for pool towels 5 euros and another none refundable 5 euros then 1 euro each time you wanted a clean towel. You have to swipe each one of your door cards in the restaurant and they keep a paper tally of your drinks (limited choice) which you hand in on leaving. The food was good but very repetative and bland with lots of veal & pork. There is no separate children's menu were the children can choose there own food. Snacks and ice cream only served for a short time in the afternoon.None of the pools are heated and no inflatables allowed not even a tiny sponge ball. There was no al a cart restaurant as advertised in the brochure. The outside circular pool bar was shuttered up so not in use. Overall disappointed with the run down facilities and broken tiles around the children's pool area. Having stayed in other hotels in this area we have experienced far better.
We recently stayed at the Caterina for 2 weeks - the last time before it closes for a total refurbishment in the middle of April. We've stayed here many times before and found it to be a most congenial and comfortable hotel and I have written several reviews about it. This time I would just like to say a huge 'Thank-you' to all the staff who have worked so hard to make all our holidays enjoyable. This time, in spite of knowing the hotel is due for closure, they continued to work tirelessly and with full commitment to ensure their customers were well looked after. The restaurant staff were superb, the gardeners kept the grounds immaculately, cleaners were meticulously in ensuring everything was spick and span, everyone worked so hard. So, thank you every one - we hope the new hotel is as good at the old one.
Just come back from a 7 night stay at IFA Catarina. First impression was very good, check in was swift and painless, room was clean and tidy, we managed to just get in for lunch. Wow, loads to choose from even though there was 15 mins left. As we went All inclusive we just sat anywhere and had our drinks brought to us. The main pool was very crowded but we found a table and chairs and again our drinks were brought to us. We got changed for dinner and then we found the hotel has a strange quirk, remember we are wearing bands to say we are All Inc, we were told we had to bring down all 3 of our key cards and they were swiped through a computer and we were then given a piece of paper which our drinks were recorded on, we then had to give it back to the lady at the front of the food hall. This happened at breakfast too, except for the drinks bill. The hotel is long and loads of little areas to sunbathe in where you can be away from children (dont go in the Easter hols if you dont want children around you). The mattresses are hard and not enough plug sockets in the room, also in 2017, having to pay for wifi is a bit naughty but it was 2 Euros per day for 2 devises so not as bad as other places. It would be interesting to see what they do to the place. The drinks flowed and the staff were really friendly so well worth a vist
