AC Hotel Iberia Las Palmas4.0 out of 5.0

With a five-star staff (Sr. José Ramos, Carla, Bhavna and all others) this Marriott property is a wonderful choice. You'll be greeted with smiles from beginning to end, never mind how busy they are. Modern from the outside and very pleasant inside, the hotel offers nice ocean & boardwalk as well as neat city views. Location is fantastic: the area is quiet but you are a short walking distance away from the historic district of Vegueta with plenty of shopping and dining options, Teatro Pérez Galdós, Casa Museo de Colón, Catedral Basílica de Santa Ana and other landmarks. One of the city’s two main bus terminals, San Telmo, where you can take *blue* Global buses to travel anywhere on the Island is a seven-minute walk away. Playa del Ingles and El Faro de Maspalomas are one hour away by Global Bus. Playa de Las Canteras and Las Arenas Shopping Mall can be reached by *yellow* city bus within 15-20 minutes. Rooms are immaculate and spacious; bathrooms are super clean; mattresses, bed linen and towels are of high quality. Wi-Fi is quite adequate. Some rooms appear to have better Wi-Fi connectivity than others. Highly recommend for a comfortable and affordable stay in Gran Canaria that has so much more to discover than just the beautiful beaches of Maspalomas... I return to AC Iberia every time I visit the Island.
We stayed for 4 nights in a twin room and had no issues. The room was clean and tidy. Bathroom was nice and clean and nice shower too. However the door is a frosted glass door with a slight inch gap all along the door which wasn't ideal as sharing with a friend. Other than that the room had a great ocean view. AC worked fine. Could do with a mirror by the dressing table. There is an in room safe and you get complimentary water. We used the airport shuttle service too which saved us over €70 for return journey. The hotel is about 7 mins from the beach area (Las Canteras) by taxi which cost about €5 each way. It was a 5-7 minute walk to the San Telmo bus station where we got the local bus to Puerto Rico, playa del ingles and Maspaloma. The shopping area and restaurant is about 10 mins walk passing through a lovely park with tourist desk there too. The main tourist office is near Santa Catalina park. All in all a great stay. Breakfast was average. Not a lot of hot food choices apart from scrambled eggs, Spanish omelet and bacon.
We ended up at this hotel due to a flight cancellation. Shortly after arriving there, we were assigned rooms which is impressive, given that we were quite a lot of people arriving at once. Throughout our stay, the staff tried to fulfill our requests, but they always seemed a bit too dismissive. The room was ok, although on the small side. While the room floor and bath were clean, the walls had marks on them and even bits falling off. One of the wall lamps was also moving (not supposed to). The only two power sockets in the room were nowhere near the bed. Free WiFi is an overstatement. There is a basic, very slow version, that cannot be used for much. If you actually want WiFi, you will have to pay for it. Also, better ventilation in the bathroom and a toilet brush would have been nice. Breakfast and dinner were not impressive either. The food itself was good, the selection was limited (and a bit too standard for my taste). My biggest disappointment was the rooftop pool area. Both the pool and the seating area looked fine, but I had expected them to be bigger. There is no space for a lot of people there. There is nothing to provide shade either. Overall an average stay, less than you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
The double bed seemed quite unstable and moved with each turn of the body. Tasty breakfast although after 7 days a little monotonous, nice and helpful staff. Good location near to big pedestrian street with lots of restaurants and shops. Very small parking for such a large hotel, maybe 20 parking places.
Stayed in this hotel while crew changing, The hotel is nice & quiet, rooms are very clean Food is ok, also the bar area is nice. Staff very good & helpful , They also serve bar food witch is quite nice.
Was put up here when a flight was delayed Room was ok with acceptable air con The buffet breakfast was ok but very very basic cheap yoghurt , fruit very very poor hot dishes. Totally lacked finesse Lunch appaling - even way watermelon was cut was poor rough unmanagechunks, no veggie options, overcooked fish, overcooked meat, pasta which was overcooked , tinned tomato sauce tinned veg carelessy prepared salad, ready prepared fruit tart and one cake - poor quality careless chopped up, cheap ice cream which had large chunks of ice in it from clearly melting and beinng refrozen. No hot veg except chips I would not have served food like this at home . The chef needs performance managing. The restuarant staff tried but lacked any visible leadership - overwelmed by task of clearing and providing cutlery which could have been provided self service.
The hotel is located oceanfront, 500 m from Old Town and 3 km from Las Canteras Beach. The hotel offers free shuttle from and to the airport but the schedule is very limited. From outside the building is not pretty, more like a hospital. From inside it is modern and nicely decorated. Our Master Suite was on the top 11th floor but the entrance was from the 10th floor because of the rooftop pool. The suite was huge in size and had a long but narrow balcony with a seaview. There was a sewage smell in the room. The breakfast was quite average in the food selection but worth the 13 euros.
Good hotel with spacious rooms. Buffet breakfast has a variety and caters for all. View from my room was stunning, Palm trees, ships leaving & docking. Next door is a night club which was a great nite out. Located centrally within walking distance to Las Canteras, shops, catherdral & Columbos's house
Very nice, clean hotel with beautiful see view. Busy road and problem with parking, but very friendly and helpful staff is compensating the stay :) I would definitely recommend it and stay there again :)
We arrived for a 5 day stop and drop holiday close to the airport. Guests should be aware this is a city hotel with immediate walks out into city streets not beach front promenades and hotel is not within walking distance of beach, I would not consider this a holiday type of hotel but great for business users or people passing through. Reception staff where not overly helpful and lacked knowledge of local area. The Reception bar area is very dark and feels quite claustrophobic not much natural light. Be aware that restaurants' in the local area do not open for evening meals until 20.00/20.30 hours, even though it is a city you have to go to the beach area about a 5/10 minute taxi ride for anytime dining. The pool area on the roof is lovely but depending on weather can be windy and very cold. The gym was poor and we had to asked for free weights to be available for use. Breakfast was basic but sufficient. 10/10 for the ultra comfortable bed. Bedroom was sufficient and functional. Taxi costs 30 euros approx. from airport or if the times work out the hotels free airport transfer is excellent and works well.
