Our holiday got off to a good start, great flights 3 families heading to turtle Beach for 8 days in the sun. About a week out and knowing we were going to arrive late we rang to arrange the $45 welcome food pack they offer for 2 of the families, we also requested a ground floor apartment so we didn't have to traipse 3 young kids and gear up and down flights of stairs, this was agreed, we then rang to confirm 2 nights out surprisingly we discovered that reception was closed after 7pm, after hours phone service let us know they would leave a message, great we thought, we rang again the following day and reception said it would be sorted. Arrival was smooth enough, but because we arrived after hours, (that being 7pm) we could only get temporary cards, we parked, got our gear and discovered we were 4 flights up from the car park, after hours can't do anything about this we would have to wait till reception opened in the morning, food pack nowhere to be seen and yep you guessed it, after hours can't help because reception is closed so after 12 hours of travelling at 10 pm with kids wanting bottles we had to go out shopping. Reception in the morning were anything but apologetic, apparently it was not their fault and if we wanted to change room it would now cost a cleaning fee for our room as we had used it. Great we thought, may as well soldier on with the top floor. Room wasn't bad, a bit tired but perfectly livable, surprising that there is no chopping board and that there are passive aggressive notes warning you that you'll be charged if you don't do the dishes before you leave. The dishwasher was missing most of the wheels off the tray which made it a nightmare to use and the cutlery holder let most of the cutlery fall straight through due to it being old and broken. 2 rolls of toilet paper and if you want more you have to buy it, 2 sachets of dishwasher powder to do the dishes for 8 days, want more? You need to buy it, want rubbish bags if the 2 aren't enough, go buy them, want towels for the pools? $5 per towel to hire, (you can buy much nicer ones just down the road for that price) portacot? Yep you have to pay for that as well, $25 per child for the kids club which almost never operates, pay for the mini golf, pay for tennis, and so on. Oh and if you don't take your rubbish bags downstairs you'll be charged for that as well. Hell you even have to go out and buy your own salt and pepper, there's not even a little pot of each to cook with. No food or drinks near the luke warm pools so you can't relax while you watch the kids, only saw 1 bbq by the adults only pool which, you guessed it, you pay for but you can't cook and let the kids swim at the same time because that area is adults only. The best thing about the place was the splash zone, or so we thought, but it was ice cold water so the kids lasted about 5 minutes, this is the only area you can sit and see and relax with a drink and some food as an adult and it's perfectly useless, if it were warm it would have changed our trip. All in all it was probably the least relaxing holiday we've ever had, we constantly felt we needed to leave the room to take the kids out, they could swim but we were left to just do nothing but supervise, we simply couldn't relax at all. The place has all the potential to be really great but there are just too many things that they do incredibly poorly, it feels like they are just going through the motions of making money and they've lost touch with actually providing a holiday destination. The cafe at the deck was good, food was pleasant make sure you buy beers by the bucket, it's $7.50 for one beer or $25 for a bucket of 6 which they graciously provide with a bucket and ice but don't try to drink your own alcohol on site. All in all for $290 odd dollars a night we were thoroughly disappointed, you don't even get a service till you stay 9 nights. If you want to relax with a young family you'd be better off elsewhere. Would we go back? Only if they made significant changes to their operations, it's full of potential but in all honesty it's pretty terrible.
Their website promoted a great experience, Four star rating, this may be the case 35 years ago, I was quite putout by the quality of the rooms on offer, staying for over a week I wanted something that was good value, nice atmosphere, comfortable, neat and clean, unfortunately this was not the case on any of these issues. My first room was dirty walls stained and dirty and located on the second level the cleaners had emptied the vacuum cleaner over the balcony onto the roof of the entry door below leaving the residue of the cleaner their for all to see, it was also very noisy located between highway and the main children pool. I rang the front desk and the staff were polite and arranged a room change, the staff member that assisted in the move was very nice and explained that many of the rooms on offer are privately owned and a lot of the owners are not forthwith monies to assist in the maintenance. My assistance gave me the offer of two further rooms and both were in poor condition one had a ugly blue carpet that was torn up badly and I was informed was due replacement during my time so I accepted the next apartment which was still not good but was quite and had no maintenance programmed. Within this apartment the walls were marked up and dirty hooks on the walls with no paintings, bathroom was so small and walls had been patched up but not yet painted, it was quite a narrow shower to squeeze into very tiny area, the apartment was very strange as if a converted corner of the building were sections like the kitchen and bathroom was fitted into small triangles, wardrobes were filled with items so you could not use them like fold tables, vacuums, and other peoples personal stuff...very unusual as this was sold to me as a hotel resort not a B&B.
We stayed here in Winter with our 2 children (aged 7 and 11). We stayed in a 2-bed refurbished (or superior) apartment which was clean and spacious and had everything we could possibly need (including washer, dryer and full oven). Upon arrival we were able to check in very late (after 11pm) due to our flights being delayed which was great. Unfortunately we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with our luggage which wasn't easy but we struggled on. Ultimately however, we were very pleased to have an apartment on the 3rd floor as we felt the balconies afforded a bit more privacy than the ground and second floor apartments and the stairs were only a problem when transporting luggage at the start and end of the holiday. The balcony was right among the trees which was so lovely for bird (and bat) watching with our morning coffee. The resort is a little noisy but as it's a family resort we expected this and it didn't bother us at all (infact it made us more relaxed when our own kids were making noise). Our children had a ball. They loved the variety of the pools, the splash zone and the kids club they went to was a hit with them too and the mini golf. A big surprise for us was the restaurant. Usually we don't visit resort restaurants as they tend to be pricey with average food however the Deck was very reasonably priced and the food was delicious (esp the pizza). I also thought it was genius having the restaurant located with an overlooking view of the splash zone and the pool area - which meant I could have a relaxing coffee while my kids splashed. The location of the resort isn't bad - short drive to Pacific Fair shopping mall and Broadbeach centre. Yes there were some minor things that could have been better but I feel that if I mention them it would just sound like nit picking - to be honest we found very little fault with this place. We will be coming back next time.
Stayed for two nights, room was a good size for a family of 5 and was clean and tidy. Kids really enjoyed the onsite facilities (water park, spa, various pools). Location was convenient, numerous shops, restaurants and beach all within easy walking distance. Onsite secure parking and wifi internet (without an extra fee) was nice, and the pool side cafe had a good range of meals and drinks. We look forward to returning in the future.
Pools were lovely resort restaurant was good value but apartments were a bit tired our bed was very hard like sleeping on a table the staff on the shuttle were awesome but there was one lady on reception that was not very nice probably in the wrong job as customer service was not her strong point is a fantastic place to stay if you have small children
We had a beautiful ground apartment that was updated, clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful time, loved having a coffee machine in the apartment. The bunk beds were a little small but apart from that we had a great time, the pools were great and the deck had wonderful food and coffee. Would stay again.
Stayed here in 2013 and raved about the place. Back 4 years on and very disappointed. First face on checkin was Janelle. Not only did she fail to smile or welcome us to the resort not once did she even thank us for our payment or for filling in forms . We got there earlier than checkin and at 2pm went back to get keys and Learnna I think it was was amazing...happy, smiling and kind. We were on the ground floor and very happy with our room location however apartments need a good refurbish and spruce up. Had the upgraded 2 bedroom and although furniture was modern couch was wet on arrival and bed uncomfortable. Sheets were threadbare and had holes which was very surprising. Curtains filthy under the white sheers. The apartment was cleaned very well....towels could do with replacing as thin and quite small. Pool and grounds beautiful. New Water slide zone awesome but not for kids over 10 unfortunately. Didn't use kids club. Meals at the Deck were delicious and the staff there very chatty and friendly. Would I stay there again?? No unfortunately I wouldn't. Sorry TB.....was good while it lasted.
Well if life is a beach then turtle beach resort needs a few Changes . We chose this place purely due to the kids club. So what has gone wrong you may ask ? Great photos on the website yes but it is closed most days even on the school holidays ! The facilities are there but where is the staff to run it ? When we asked that question silly excuses given like it is shut, not opened , closed Or opened another day . Well we flew up and pre paid to this place because of the kids club and it is cold the pools are freezing and we want the kids club !!! We can't handle the truth . We bought a lemon and to top things off lugging our luggage four flight from the car park only to realise that had we not been so silly we could have bought a luxury escape on the foreshore and minded our own grandchildren for far less So blocks back we have time for buyers remorse. The amazing thing was that the time the kids club was opened the kids movie screening ( another great picture on the website ) clashed . Why I asked The answer was well it's always been that way So if you want to use the kids club and watch the movie at the kids theatre then forget it There is an amazing water park but no one over ten can use it and it is really suited for kids 12 or 13 as well . So if you have a staggered family forget it . Finally the restaurant shuts by 8pm ,last orders taken by 7.30 So don't believe those photos either. Ha Then it took days for us to be able to charge anything to the room . This was rectified after a major complaint so cash is king here ! We were told that we got a room clean after nine days ! Why the magic nine. I suppose the staff for the kids club and the cleaners work every nine days good apartment but if it's the kids club you are coming for give it a miss
It's a family hotel and they really try to do it well. The apartments are super-spacious with nice kitchen and living room areas. Also the pools are of course nice and even heated during the colder winter months. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby if you don't like the pretty tasteless offering of the pool bar/restaurant. Beach is about 300-400 meters walk away so it's not really by the beach. Anyhow, the kids had a blast and that's what you come here for.
The only good thing about this resort is the lovely staff at club turtle and the facilities it has for kids. Otherwise we will definitely not be returning and would definitely not recommended this resort to anyone. We stayed in apartment 233 on the ground floor, The rooms were dirty, the walls were filthy. Inside of the fridge was filthy from the previous tenants, the curtains stunk and all of them were terribly stained. The kitchen wall next to the pantry had tomatoe sauce all over it. There were no tissues provided at all. Shower in the ensuite was revolting and stunk. We had to buy our own bleach to clean and plug in air freshness to rid the smells. The vacuum provided in our apartment had the most disgusting smell as if the bag had NEVER been changed, which I'm sure it hadn't! Along with the range hood in the kitchen when I used it I nearly vomited , it smelt like something up there was dead. The room had numerous cock roaches and ants. We addressed this issue with reception numerous times and the only response we got was there's nothing we can do about it, they are everywhere. Which simply isn't good enough. We asked for a can of spray to rid them and that never happened when the girl on front desk said she would organize one. Absolute joke! If I wanted a cock roach infested holiday I would have gone camping and not paid a cent. I suggest you advertise your rooms with free cock roaches as a May special! I called recption and asked for a roll of toilet paper and the girl on the phone said we had to supply our own . We have paid turtle beach good $$ for a 7 night stay and all we asked for was a roll of toilet paper and a can of bug spray and couldn't get that at the very least. Extremely disappointed in the room provided. As I mentioned it was filthy and stunk and full of cock roaches. I would definitely not pay the amount I paid to holiday here again and won't be back. Nor would we recommend this resort to anyone we know, and will advertise to everyone I know that your rooms were a disgrace and your reception staff were extremely rude and couldn't care less about what the paying customer requests or the standard of living. Extremely disappointed in what accommodation Turtle Beach has given us. Not worth a single cent that we paid. It was a absolute disgrace, I should be taking turtle beach to the travel ombudsman and demand a full refund, it's simply not acceptable to put a family with 2 young children in a cock roach infested apartment and not help rectify the situation after numerous attempts of contacting your front reception staff. No excuse is a excuse. I feel for any other family that books a stay at turtle beach and gets put in the same apartment.
