We went to the restaurant at this hotel and I have to say we were not disappointed. The hotel is quite old and the ambiance in keeping. The restaurant is fairly formal, but they do have a Bistro, which less formal, personally, I quite enjoy the formality for a special meal. On arrival we were shown into the lounge and after ordering a drink, were given the menu for perusal. It was a fairly extensive menu that offered, things that were different from that served at many other restaurants. We were shown to our table and served warm soda bread, followed five minutes later, by our starters of wild mushroom risotto and Herefordshire snails - both were very good. For main course I had salmon and my husband duck, the sauce on each was delious, as were the vegetables. The dessert menu was lovely and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the banana dessert, I however, settled for the cheese board. There was easily ten choices of cheese and I'm pretty sure the oat cakes were home made. The food was top quality, locally sourced and very well cooked, added to that, the staff were pleasant and attentive. All in all, it was an excellent meal and evening and I have no hesitation in recommending it. We will certainly be returning.
It was a relief that my booking was taken for dinner on Saturday night.I like to take the trouble to plan well in advance but on this occasion it was spontaneous for a variety of reasons .Apologies for the short notice. As usual was made to feel very welcome, the menu was seasonal and imaginative the service was attentive and friendly as always .
This is why we go away anywhere, to kick back and relax. This is a great place to do just that. Surroundings are peaceful and service excellent. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the towels and linen white. Tea, coffee, homemade biscuits, and fresh fruit in the room. Leaf tea and ground coffee too, fabulous. Milk and water available in the fridge. Beautifully cooked breakfast, quality ingredients. Service and food from the bistro also fantastic. A slight niggle as the shower was without power, but that might be expected in an old property and as the water was piping hot it wasn't the end of the world. Two exemplary members of staff worth a mention, the receptionist who was warm, friendly and efficient, and the waitress who served the afternoon tea, pulled pints at the bar and served at dinner. Highly recommend a stay if you are in the area.
It may officially a 3 star AA rated hotel, but it feels more like a 4 star, in terms of the quality of the room, the food and the staff. The room (Old Vintage) was large, comfortable and tastefully furnished. It was also spotlessly clean. There was complimentary fresh milk and water in the fridge and loose leaf tea (with a teapot and strainer), a cafetière, a caddy of shortbread biscuits and fresh fruit. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and cooked individually. The muesli with fresh fruit was a delight - not at all sugary - and the cooked breakfast was cooked perfectly. We ate twice in the bistro in the evening and the food was excellent - good quality ingredients cooked and presented extremely well. The service from every member of staff was that lovely mix of polite and friendly that makes you feel like your a real person whose custom is valued. We would love to return at some point in the future and would highly recommend to anyone.
We chose Corse lawn as we love it there, sadly we could only book one night we left it too late. Welcoming and comfortable as ever. My food was good, my husband was disappointed with the lamb but the marmalade in the morning is his favourite I forgot to buy a jar, good excuse. To go back soon.
I stay away quite a lot on business & am trying to steer clear of the large corporate chains as their pricing policy is getting ludicrous (e.g. over £200 for room only at a Premier Inn in Wiltshire). As a result I was very pleased to come across the Corse Lawn House Hotel. I'm sure the owners would not mind me saying that it is NOT a place for the bling brigade. You won't find this place full of black and shiny silver and fake fur. This is a country house hotel in every way. My room was large and very elegantly decorated. The best way to describe it is as a "home from home". Minimalism is not on the agenda! There are two options for dinner: a more formal restaurant which includes a table d'hote menu for just over £30 (plus a la carte) or a bistro which has the same a la carter or some lighter options. I opted for the latter and had a lovely meal with exceptionally good service. Breakfast is all served at your table and was large and plentiful. There are lots of very nice details like ground coffee & a cafetière in your room with fresh milk in the fridge. The swimming pool is rather like an outdoor pool with a large clear cover over it. There's a small cubicle to change in but no showers. It's not the best hotel pool I've used but I had a half-hour swim before dinner which was enjoyable after a day on the road. Overall, I was very impressed with this hotel. The facilities & hospitality were excellent as was the food. I was so impressed I've already re-booked for next month.
Our extended family had a wonderful weekend at the Corse Lawn, 15 adults and 8 children! We were looked after really well from start to finish. The service at dinner was immaculate and the food was excellent. All our various whims were catered for without a problem. The breakfasts were freshly prepared and plentiful. The location is absolutely fabulous and is surrounded by lovely countryside. We made good use of the pool, croquet lawn and tennis court. The rooms were spacious and nicely furnished and the whole place is really homely. There were really lovely touches like free home made biscuits and bottled water. There is a cosy lounge area and the kids loved the freedom to run about in the grounds. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The wi-fi and phone signal was patchy in different parts of the hotel
This was our second visit to the Corse Lawn and again we found it a delightful experience. Personal service, quaint rooms and a fantastic restaurant. Time moves slowly here and it is the perfect place to relax and wind down. Gorgeous setting and welcoming hosts, we can't recommend the hotel more highly.
Booked a two night break at this Hotel which included dinner. The Hotel is in the middle of the country side. The room was very spacious and a very comfortable bed. The set evening meal was very disappointing, vegetables over cooked and funny textured chicken. We enjoyed our stay but wished we had gone out to eat in nearby Tewesbury.
This much loved hotel is family run; there is great attention to detail and some little extras are provided which make it special. Real coffee, leaf tea, biscuits and fruit are available in the bedroom and and even hot water bottles should we have needed them! The Queen Anne house stands proud on the edge of the village green, with a pond in front. Garden tables and chairs by the pond provide a popular venue for afternoon tea. One feature we appreciated in the restaurant was the cheese trolley with many unfamiliar varieties of cheese. Old fashioned it might be, but a style of comfort and service that we appreciate!
