The property is right next to the core jungle and Steward at hotel would share CCTV clipping of a Leopard that came inside the property gate in he night. No human attacks have ever been reported, so enjoy the place in a guided fashion.
It was our first visit to sasan Gir, the climate was good and the hotel is located just besides the Gir Safari. Lots of greenery all around. A Lake flowing nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed the jungle safari, saw a majestic Lion. The hotel staff is very friendly and food is tasty.
Good spacious property with excellent service and well-maintained rooms. This property is next to a river and has good views. We were a group of two families, each with a 4yr old kid. All of us enjoyed the property. We drove down from Vadodara(Gujarat) to Gir. Ample parking is available. The property has good green open spaces. Enjoyed the swimming pool as well, it was clean and well maintained. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the government office where you can obtain permits and start the Lion safari. It is recommended to obtain permits in advance. They can be arranged online. Restaurant was nice and food offered was excellent. We had opted for a all-meals included package. Food was freshly prepared and tasted well. The staff is very helpful, courteous and professional. Recommend to stay here on your visit to Gir.
The visit to Gir was an amazing , unforgettable and enjoyable experience . The Taj Gateway Hotel is also nice. The weather was good and we could see the animals passing f on nearby. It was trilling experience.
We came down from Rajasthan to Gujarat to specifically visit the Sasan Gir National Park to see the Asiatic lion and other wildlife and since we had been staying with various Taj properties opted for this hotel. Upon arrival the staff was kind enough to assist us with an issue we had with our driver. In hindsight we should have arranged our pickup from Ahmedabad through the hotel as this was cheaper. The hotel and the rooms are a bit dated but for jungle/national park lodges it is a good level. It is situated in a nice and quiet area of the town by a creek and from your balcony you can see the river and forest. There is some wildlife to see from the hotel or by walking to the river. Allegedly one can occasionally see a leopard below the bridge at the entrance of the property. The start of the safari ride is less than 3 minutes away so an excellent location. The hotel has its own jeeps to go on the Jungle Trail safari which is convenient (in contrast to for example Ranthambore). Frankly the safari's (entrance + guide + vehicle + camera fee) are expensive for foreigner but this is attributable to the forest department but we generally had good engaging guides. The driver from the hotel did an excellent job. The food menu offers a mix of Indian and western cuisine; fortunately the Indian food is a little bit less spicy than the Rajasthani cuisine. It is best to wait until the tandoor is up and running and order some fresh naan with tandoori lamb or chicken. It is a bit more humid here than in Rajasthan so it's nice to take a refreshing swim in the pool. The personnel is helpful and accommodating despite the low season and it was nice to chat with the people in the hotel restaurant. The hotel arranged for a car to drop us off at Diu airport which was at a decent price.
What a fabulous stay and what an experience, one to cherish and remember for a long long time. Many things stand out being (a) What a location, next to the Hiran river, the property offers an awesome setting in the middle of the forest, you can literally hear the birds, peacocks and other animals (b) Outstanding hospitality and service; staff is just too good and so well oriented in client service and ensuring customer satisfaction, you feel part of a family (c) Absolute fresh and appealing food, appears just taken out of farm, cooked so Homely and with an extraordinary taste…Rooms are well built and equipped with all amenities…pool is decent though not of metro standards…All in all, would love to come again in this extraordinary property
The staff will serve you with everything at every hour. We stayed at he presidential room which was really nice. the attached balconies and the chair outside to watch the beautiful nature. Also one day, the river down, the deers were observed there drinking water. It was a marvelous site. The spa was pretty okay, same rates as Mumbai! The staff were extremely friendly and was always greeted with a smile. The safari arranged were great. The food was good. The staff will help you in everything possible. Spoke to them endlessly about Gujarat and especially about Gir. Their knowledge about the place is phenomenal. They dont even get bored of the questions. Thanks for making me want to come there again!
This was a replacement for our original booking. It was very quiet with few other guests. The staff showed great interest in our safari results and rejoiced with us when we reported 11 lions on one trip. The hotel was the very close to the park booking office and gate. The room was excellent and the chef tried hard to accommodate my no-spice diet. A shame we didn't discover the nearby liquor store till our second day.
The overall experience is not upto the TAJ experience. There were lot of mistakes done by workers . We were first told tea is free so we ordered but after we had tea they said its not chargable . SPA was too dirty and not upto the mark to the value charged Cleanliness was there but rooms did not have wow effect. TAJ has tata name attached and the price charged is higher than the experience . On other side Lords inn and fern charged same but has good overall experience same with Vishal Greenwoods Thanks and best regards
Food is ok & amenities also ok ok type, gym is not like gym just 33 machines that too for cardio & one out of order. Bi Cycles also not good quality or non maintained. So these all needs to be taken care of for best experience.
