wonderful Home and hosts that allow you to feel like you are at home. I stay in rental houses all the time as I travel frequently because I have family scattered around the United States. My stay at sandhill Flats in Gary, Indiana has been amazing and I will continue to request to book this home every time I come to Chicago to visit my family. The home was clean., had everything I needed to enjoy my stay, extra towels, extra extra linens, coffee, and an espresso maker, which was my absolute favorite. Amazing hot tub that made the 20° nights. I feel not so bad! I give sandhill flats a 10 out of 10 for their courteousness quick responsiveness for any questions that I have no matter how minor and the overall cleanliness and exceptionalism of the home…

Overall our stay was wonderful. The hot tub was great and easy to use and access. We could not get the fire pit to light but was able to use the grill just fine. The outdoor shower was great for going to the beach and rinsing off our dog. House had a musty smell. Customer service was quick and responsive when we called. Would stay again.

Check in and out was easy. While staying has issues with getting gas grill to work due to no long lighter. They did bring one so that was nice. Alot of the outdoor furniture was broken. I didnt like that the gate to the yard was locked and i couldnt go in and out that way. The fire pit wouldnt get a big flame at all. Not worth it to lite. Also not easy to light. The hottub was nice and big but the cover was ripped when we got there. The house was beautiful on the inside and had great curb appeal. It did need some home decor to make it feel more home like. No cleaning supplies was left at all. I wouldve like some clorox wipes or a bottle of cleaner. Overall it was comfortable and clean. Location was good as far as close to alot of beaches.m but very rundown bad neighborhood. I wouldnt rent again for the fact that it was over priced. Host did respond when things went wrong.

Great place

We really enjoyed our time here, I think they should do a little better advertising the proximity to the beach and offer a map. We thought you had to walk down the sidewalk and street to get to the beach, turns out there is a trail that leads directly to it on the end of the dead end street. A wagon would be needed to haul your stuff, they have chairs and beach stuff in the box out box but we had no clue until we looked around. As others mentioned the Internet is very spotty but the communication of the host is absolutely second to none. If I sent a text within 2-3 minutes I had a reply. Gary has a bad wrap so we carried that around with us but at no time felt unsafe, as mentioned the drive in you think you're headed to a bad location but it's not and we walked the long trail that ends at the apartment's with no concerns. The hiking trails are nice but a bit hard to follow because they switch terrains so much.Chicago is only 35 miles away so we took a day trip there and Michigan is 30 minutes the other direction so pretty good location if you want to escape the city but also visit a big city. The pizza place just around the corner was very good. The backyard is a really nice addition but we weren't comfortable getting in the hot tub because there is a camera visibly pointing at it, I don't believe they watch it at all but it was still something I didn't want to mess with.Overall this is a great place and the dunes are worth exploring

Short stay

Recently stayed there with daughter and her 3 boys. The house is as pictured and clean. Had issues with WiFi connectivity. Reached out to property manager and was given another option and that one wasn’t any better. The road the house was on, was quiet and I felt safe however the general area and beach, was a bit uneasy. You can walk to the beach from the dead end street adjacent to house. Need to climb a sandy hill to get on a main trail and the follow that trail to the beach parking lot. The later in afternoon it got, the rowdier the crowd and we felt uneasy with the young kids. We ended up driving north to get to a better location. I questioned the safety when booking and was assured the area was safe, cameras in place and yes, street was quiet and felt safe…the surrounding area not so much.

Space was very pretty and well maintained. Very comfortable beds and sitting areas, quiet street and GREAT access to the dunes. Added pet fee from their separate website we were unaware of from the original booking. Lost water 2x and electricity through no fault of their own - company was great about responding and communicating

Excellent vacation spot for Indiana Dunes

Enjoyed three nights at this property to hike the dunes. Location was good, towards the West side of the park but an easy drive to multiple hikes. Also had the option to walk directly from the house for the Miller Woods trail and Miller Woods Beach. Backyard was great for relaxing after a day of hiking. Grill was easy to use with the hard lined gas and hot tub was clean and enjoyable. If you do bring more than 2 cars, the remote lot is at the Miller train stop about a mile south. Was a bit nervous about leaving my car for multiple nights but did not have problems. Hot water in the shower was finicky at times. Had some difficulty with check in and had to reach out to the host for door code which they provided.

Great stay!

We had a great stay! The property was perfect- hot tub, plenty of beds, comfortable beds, walking distance to Lake Michigan! Home was comfortable and clean and the managers were easy to reach with questions-just a text away. Would definitely stay here again

Weekend getaway

Great location! Quiet, nice neighborhood and our pups loved the fenced in yard! The beach is a block away. All kinds of trails right there! Beautiful home! Will definitely be coming back!

Property looked terrible so we found another rental!

The fence was literally falling down and the yard was a mess. I rented this property to have a fenced area for my dogs and daughter and that was not an option. The house was in a very poor area with boarded up windows and graffiti. I would never have felt comfortable staying there and not al all as represented online!

Clean, spacious and quiet getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at Sandhill Flat. The check in process was easy and communication was clear. The place is spacious, clean and stocked well. I was impressed they provided some coffee and sugar packets. We enjoyed the spacious backyard, grill and hot tub in the evenings. We were close to the park and beach . We would return.

Cute little space

We overall enjoyed our stay here. The only issue we had was that the wifi was not working so we were not able to use it for working on our computers or to watch TV. I reported this to the property management company but nothing was done about it. Outside of that, we had a great stay.

Comfy and close

The house is well maintained, living space was good for two adults and two teens. The beach is a walkable distance. Food and groceries are not far away. The area lacks a small vacation town feel but the house is great for a cook at home get away. Good street biking and running trails in the beach area.

Great time

Walking distance to Marquette Beach ($10 daily parking) or a 10-minute drive from the more popular West Beach (the westernmost part of the National Park, $25 daily parking). The house was comfortable, and we enjoyed grilling and using the hot tub in the backyard. Note: The Wi-Fi doesn't work well, and you'll need to bring your own coffee for the coffee machine (or use the Keurig).

Great stay!

This is our second time here and this time we brought our doggie and she had a great time on the beach chasing the waves! The house is beautiful and the amenities are great. Our only request is to please repair the fence - particularly the back corner. It really needs some love.

Wonderful place to recharge

Great weekend getaway

We stayed for the fourth weekend and it was great. We went to Miller Beach which is less than a 10 minute walk and even for the Fourth, it was relatively quiet and clean. We also went to the Dunes which was about a 20 minute drive.
