Disappointing

When booking I saw multiple reviews about a musty smell. We prepared for that but didn’t smell anything. However, there were dirty towels left in the washing machine. When I contacted Vacasa about it I was told I was lying. When I sent a picture they said oh housekeeping messed up. No apology for calling me a liar. When it came time to cook ALL of the pans were terribly scratched so either Teflon was peeling or old food was burnt to the pan and would not come off. We had to go buy a pan to cook with. There is no outside grill but they do have an outside kitchen with a stove top. When we went to cook burgers there was no propane and they did not refill it or mention in the listing that we would need that. So we had to buy a mini grill, charcoal and lighter fluid. The sofa bed was missing several slats so when my daughter sat down she fell through the couch. This is where we planned for my 9 year old to sleep so he had to sleep on the couch in the living room instead. Overall it was very disappointing.
Dirty towels left from previous guests.
Scratched and burnt on food that did not come off.
Every pan, some even had rust.
My kid fell through when sitting down.

Quick beach weekend

This property met every single one of our needs. Everyone was able to have their own space at night and we had a big kitchen island to play games on and snack throughout the day. Short drive down to the beach on the clean/family, friendly part of the beach.

Smells Awful

The cottage is adorable but, as soon as you open the door the awful smell of mildew/mold hits you in the face. The A/C and bathroom vents look awful. Unfortunately, the windows don't open to air the place out. We had to leave the front door wide open to sleep and still had runny/stuffy noses. The management takes at least 48 hours to even respond, of course, they are unable to fix the issue. . I will never book this location again.

Holiday Weekend Getaway

This house was close enough to the beach with a nice walk in the nice weather we had. The house was just as pictured so it was up to the expectation. Vacasa was quick to respond on questions/request we had during our stay. We had no major issues while on our stay. I would bring baking pans should you plan to bake something in the oven. They had plenty of pots to cook with but no baking pans for things like cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We enjoyed our stay completely. Beds for comfy for all.

Great TX Vacation Home

The Crabby Cottage is a great vacation home. Very clean and comfortable. Also a great location close to the beach. And near good restaurants and the Big Store. Loved sitting on the big front porch. I would definitely recommend staying here and would come back again.

There were some housekeeping issues such as trash under the beds, a dirty potty training seat hanging in the bathroom and overall could’ve been better but overall the house was good for our short stay.

Not blown away

Home was not clean. Half of the light bulbs were burnt out. King bedroom mattress was awful, like sleeping on a water bed. We rented the home for July fourth and were not notified until the evening we checked in that fireworks were not permitted on or around the property. Which was a bummer especially since our kids enjoy them and there is a BBQ pit under the cabin and a fire pit within 10ft. Seems like it was a nice cabin at one time, but it’s clearly been rented often and needs TLC.

Loved the property

Property was great. Quiet location and quiet beach away from main Galveston crowd. Only problem was the Wi-Fi did not work during our stay. Wasn’t a big deal for the adults!

Appreciative BUT Won't Stay Again

We had about 7 or 8 issues / concerns but the biggest complaint I have is that I was never contacted to discuss them or have them addressed. I text 2 different numbers and sent 2 emails during our stay with no response. I won't go into detail about all the problems except for two. The property manager should honestly look into another cleaning service. There were panties that were beyond a little dirty in one of the rooms. I'm not sure how this was overlooked. And secondly, the ants in the home are a huge nuisance. My grandson and son were bitten a lot as they slept. I have pictures of the issues should someone actually ever contact me.

Cottage near the beach

Quaint beach house near the beach. Short drive in golf cart or car. Clean and everything you need for a home away from home. Extra pillows and blankets were nice, even for the cozy porch with a cool breeze. Definitely a top pick on Bolivar Pennisula.
