I have always wanted to stay at a B & B in an old Victorian home and the charming city of Gelena was the perfect location for a visit from the Twin Cities. I chose the Lamberson Guest House based on the photographs and Trip Advisor recommendations and was not disappointed! In fact, thanks to innkeeper Michelle's attention to detail and friendly welcome, it far exceeded my expectations. My personal favorite was the home made brownies on our bed pillows--yum! The home is lovely and clean and the home-made breakfasts are delicious! My husband and I enjoyed the afternoon wine, cheese and chocolate chip cookies on the beautiful back patio, relaxing on the front porch rocking chairs after climbing the steps from Main Street, and unwinding in our room at night with a blu-ray movie from the collection available, including many new releases! Michelle is knowledgeable about the city's history/points of interest/restaurants...and is happy to make reservations for you! As an added bonus, we met three other nice couples whom we really enjoyed sharing conversation with and were sad when our stay was over! We can not say enough wonderful things about our experience; we will definitely be back!
We stayed at the Lamberson Guest House for a girls weekend getaway and it was fantastic! We were pampered and spoiled with delicious food and extraordinary care! There is a great view and a beautifully restored home!
Decided on a B&B for wife's birthday. I picked Lamberson because of the reviews on TA and on Google and am I glad I did. Michelle met us at the door and made us feel welcome the whole time. The renovation on this property is astounding. A 150 year old building that maintains its charm but is upgraded to a wonderful comfort level. The original woodwork, floors, built-ins are gorgeous. Breakfast was unbelievably tasty and imaginative. The wine and cheese evenings were delightful. The property is walking close to the downtown shopping area. I cannot imagine ever staying anywhere else in Galena. Cannot wait until we get back there.
This is the most perfect, beautiful B&B in which I’ve ever stayed. The attention to detail is beyond anyone’s expectations. Michelle, the owner and Norm took such loving care of us in a manner that is reminiscent of the era in which Galena was noted for amongst the very wealthy. You feel as though you are transported back in time. Just an incredible place and gracious hosts! And we loved their little pups, Murray and Jack!!
First visit here but definitely not my last. This old home exudes warmth and character. The room was comfy and ideally equipped. From morning freshly brewed coffee to afternoon wine and cheese, one could not ask for a better place. But what makes it particularly unique is the gracious service and spectacular daily breakfasts of the owner, Michelle. She is marvelous and an outstanding person. A treat to get to know her on top of all the other touches and gifts she brings. Hope I can return often even though I live in California.
Loved this home, location was great, beautiful inside and out, the 3 course breakfast was homemade and almost to pretty to eat.........delicious. We stayed in the Maud room and would choose it again, every detail was beautifuly done. But have to say our conversations and warm welcome from Michelle will stay with us and the reason we return.
Michelle, we needed to rest and your house is so confortable and cozy we slept 14 hours when we arrived after a flight from Brazil and three hours drive from Chicago to Galena. The sheets are of high qality, the bed, the bath, nothing was forgotten. Nothing. The breakfast is always changing and is all homemade. Delicious! The house is wonderful and full of history. I'll recommend your B&B Forever!
Before our first visit to the Lamberson Guest House, my wife and I had never been to Galena. We thought we would try the Lamberson first and then try other B&B's on future trips. Needless to say, no other B&B's have been visited. We love everything about Lamberson. Michelle is the #1 reason we keep coming back. It doesn't hurt that that the house is beautiful and the service could not be any better. The food Michelle prepares every time blows us away! We have two more trips planned this year at Lamberson and cannot wait to come back every time!
I can't say enough positive things about our experience at the Lamberson Guest House. The owner, Michelle, immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable, and soon began to feel more like a friend than someone with whom we were doing business. The home is beautiful and immaculate, and everything was in excellent condition. All the rooms are bright and cheery, with decor that makes a warm, homey setting. Michelle creates the perfect balance of feeling like "pampered guest" and "right at home." Her attention to detail is remarkable - everything we needed to be comfortable was at our fingertips, along with an assortment of ways to enjoy whatever time we had at the home, right down to an old fashioned wooden jigsaw puzzle in the parlor to fill a few minutes here and there. And the food! Michelle is a wonderful cook. She made delicious, bountiful breakfasts that were truly special. In keeping with the individual approach to each guest, Michelle also prepared modified or even entirely different dishes to accommodate food restrictions or preferences. Though she seemed to anticipate every need, Michelle encouraged us to contact her at any time should we run into a problem or have questions or requests. We enjoyed every moment of our time at the Lamberson Guest House, and look forward to returning. We would recommend it without hesitation to anyone planning to visit the Galena area.
I had a very enjoyable stay at Lamberson Guest House. The owner, Michelle, conscientiously provides comforts for her guests. Her breakfasts are artistic as well as delicious. The property is a mix of historic and modern that is well maintained with beautiful views of Galena and surrounding area. I visit Galena yearly and look forward to returning to Lamberson Guest House next year.
