Having emailed the hotel a month before arrival to explain that I have a bad back and require a softer mattress, I did think that some consideration may have been given to this request. On arrival, along with other guests our passports were taken and rooms given out. I suspected then that there was no heed taken to my email as rooms were given out as we stood. The beds were extremely firm and I knew that I was going to have problems straight away. I took my iPad with said email on to reception a little later, and was told that there was nothing they could do, and that I could put my blanket under my sheet to soften it. Needless to say this did not help. Four days later they did give me additional blankets, but the damage was well and truly done there. I was in pain, sleep deprived and unable to enjoy our holiday. I spoke to the rep who also spoke to the management and no action was taken after this either. Insufficient parasols to keep out of the sun, and the food in the restaurant would have been nice if it could have been served hot. Needless to say we paid more money and had to return home a week ahead of when we should have. We were so disappointed in the lack of empathy and customer service, and would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends sadly.

Stayed here with my best friend for a week 19th-26th March , on check in we firstly had to sign a disclaimer, not sure if the other nationalities had to sign or just us Brits. Room was basic but comfortable, shower very powerful , only British channels were news channels . All inclusive not quite , had to pay for Internet, Safe, towels(you got this back on checkout) , my friend & I usually like to stay on the beach , but again you had to pay for a bed on the beach , all these things bumped up the price of your holiday which wasn’t cheap in the first place !! The wind was extremely cold so although the sun was shining the wind chill factor was cold & laying by the pool with goosebumps isn’t my idea of a great time. Food was good & varied , entertainment “amusing” , the animation team work long hours , but don’t really involve us Brits at all . Although it is a beautiful island, lovely sandy beach I would not go back purely because it’s so damn windy !!! Shame

On arriving at the hotel my husband had unfortunately left his mobile phone ( with bank card) on the transfer coach. The staff on reception couldn’t be more helpful, even the maintenance gentleman (more helpful than the Holiday rep) not a great start to the holiday but realised at that point staff would be good and not disappointed. All staff so very pleasant ( odd bar man a bit miserable ) all staff spoke excellent English and worked so hard. The grounds around the apartments are very attractive and apartment very nice, cleaned daily. You can hire beach towels €10 and safe deposit €35 but €10 deposit back.Food good and booked a night in the Asian restaurant which was good not lots of choice but very nice. Would advise to book more than can also book a Mediterranean restaurant but it was fully booked for the time we wanted- 2 sittings 6pm and 8pm.Not really enough sun beds and as usual beds get reserved early only bonus the beach at the front of the hotel although you have to hire sun beds on the beach€4.50 for the day.Bar Africa we found was the best bar and a real sun trap only problem closed at 6pm prompt, cocktails were the worst I’ve ever had so stay clear, the juice is like dilute so spoilt the drink. Not a lot in Costa Calma and disappointing no promanard, didn’t find one English bar. If all you want to do is stay in the hotel or go on the beach it’s perfect. Don’t think we would go back to Costa Calma as not enough happening but he Hotel was good

Hotel and location very nice. Didn't find any problem with staff who were always friendly and helpful. Apart from no drawers in the room the hotel itself was OK. Only problem is there is nothing to do in the evening in the resort. All the outside bars and restaurants were closed. I think the resort is suffering from "All Inclusive " syndrome. "Why go out when you've already paid for everything in the hotel." This is killing many resorts. I won't go back . It's much too quiet /boring (and I'm in my sixties). Can't imagine how it was for younger people.

Just returned a week ago from this lovely place. Booked a cheeky week away and had never been to the island previously. We were surprised by how sunny it was although a little breezy, but it is known as the windy island. On arrival at the hotel the staff on reception were lovely and spoke fluent English, they explained everything to my husband and I, however, I would have preferred a porter to show us to our room as this holiday was sold to us as a 4 star hotel, so i presumed it would have a porter. Never the less when we booked we asked for a quiet room, and that was exactly what we got, we had room 221 and it was perfect, a bathroom with a good powerful shower and a balcony/patio that you could have held a party on, the view was wonderful and waking up each morning to the sound of the palm trees swaying and the ocean crashing on the shore was heaven. I could not fault the room or the room service, it was perfect. One point, I did take our travel kettle with tea and coffee and this proved invaluable so that we could have a drink when we wanted in our room. The dining room was abit of a free for all, this is what you should expect when all inclusive, the food was lovely and there was plenty of choice, however, for me the meat needs to be cooked for longer but thats a personal choice, there is something for everyone and the salads are plentiful and good. The sweets were exceptional. All in all my husband and I got everything that we wanted in this holiday except for the entertainment which was abit of a disaster, the hotel does not cater for couples and in my opinion it is more of a family hotel, it does have an Animacion team well 3 to be exact who cater for the children etc but honestly some of them go about shouting, running around and screaming in the entertainment room. There was very little adult entertainment and my husband nicknamed the entertainment room NEPTUNES as this reminded us both like it was something off Benidorm, but we did laugh as you just could not have wrote it. In the end we went to the next hotel the Palace and had fabulous entertainment there. On our last couple of days we ventured above the pool bar to what is a roof top adult sunbathing terrace with the big luxury sun beds, we had been there for quite a few hours when a waiter came up and informed us that we could not be there, well me being Yorkshire enquired why, he then said that it was 10 euros perday for the whole day for one of the beds and you get a pillow and a bottle of proscecco (more like pomagne), we informed the waiter that we know nothing about the fee and nothing had been said to us from reception when we booked in. The waiter asked us to leave!!!! mmmmm not happy at all but it wasnt his fault it was the managements fault for not informing us. So be careful of this one. I also thought that the price for the safe was extortionate 23.50 euros for a week, we have visited various islands and the most we have paid is 15 euros for a week. There isnt many boat trips to go on and if you do they are extremely expensive, so anotherone to watch out for. Costa Calma area is very quiet and suits people who are looking for a relaxing holiday with no stress. There was alot of germans in the hotel who were very arrogant and ignorant but this is not the fault of the hotel is is the way they are. Would we return to this hotel, the answer would have to be yes, most definitely.

Our stay from the 24th - 31st March. On arriving at the hotel after a good flight and transfer on checking in it seemed that the reviews were right when we checked in with a seemingly not too friendly receptionist. She must have been busy and was okay following our check in. The disclaimer was given to us to sign which we did and I can understand why they are doing it although I’m not sure where it would stand up on a future claim. I deplore the individuals who make their false claims against these hotels. We were allocated room 249 with a sea view, albeit through palm trees. The room was fairly well placed in the complex and was really nice. The restaurant was better than any that I’ve had the pleasure of using on any previous holidays with a fantastic choice of food and the opportunity of “open cooking” . Everything cooked fresh. Don’t be worried about the reviews stating mainly German holidaymakers as this isn’t true as there are also Italians, Danes, dutch and others. Getting sun beds after 9:30 around the main pool was a problem and we normally like to spend time on the beach but this hotel doesn’t have sun beds or a bar on the beach. It was a good week for us but for the price I don’t think that we’ll be returning.

We arrived mid afternoon after about an hour transfer from airport, quick & easy check in by friendly staff. Our room 137 was ideally situated by the main pool and a few steps from pool bar, with a lovely sea view which we made the most of by sitting in the sun on the balcony which was sheltered from the wind. The restaurant (like most all inclusive) was noisy and could be very busy at times but the food was of a very good standard, most impressed with the labelling of gluten free items as hubby is a coeliac - we had no problems food wise. The beach was an amazing expanse of clean sand and provided some lovely walks especially turning right when first got to beach. Be warned that the hotel does NOT have its own beach area therefore you will have to pay for beds and sunshades. Also several nudists using the beach even in areas that were quite busy. We used the local bus to go to Moro Jable and Jandia which made a pleasant change. Not much to do actually in Costa Calma apart from market on Sunday and Wednesday which we found somewhat disappointing. The hotel entertainment in the evening was well attended and bar service generally good.

Arrived at the Monica beach to find we had been allocated a fantastic sea view apartment, only problem was it was at the bottom of four rather steep ramps and as my wife uses a wheelchair not the best of starts. Thanks Thomson for not informing the hotel of our requirements. However, the hotel reception could not have been more helpful and the following day we were move to another great room ,but on the level. The animation team worked extremely hard and we always felt included although we did not take part in many of the activities as it meant leaving the sun beds and the weather was far to good for that. The restaurant offered a fantastic range of food at all meal times and I was most impressed by the variety o fish offered. I would recommend visiting the Asian restaurant where the sushi was wonderful and they served one of the best prawn dishes I have ever had.

On arrival the reception was clean and spacious. Staff were extremely helpful and appreciated my feeble attempt at Spanish, although they spoke English well. The complex was cleaned continuously, and room serviced daily. We appreciated the towels folded into differentvanimals each day;a lovely touch. All staff were extremely friendly. The garden room was away from the main centre and was all the quiter for that. It was a lovely room with gigantic bed, wardrobe, desk and television. Theere was also akitchenette and sitting area with another television. The pool area had two pools, one heated and one not. It also had two further pools for young children. There was polside entertainment several times a day. There is also direct access to the fabulous beach. We were 'all inclusive' and food and drink were available all day. My only real criticism (hence not giving it 5 stars) is that the food was a bit bland and samey. Every lunch and evening meal was pork, fish or margurette pizza and you couldn't get a cup of tea after breakfast (only coffee). The food, however was always freshly cooked at each station and hot. The puddings, mainly cake or angel delight types were really tasteless. If you can put up with this, as we did then everything was fine.

After the usual tedium of journey, especially long transfer in minibus crammed to capacity, eventually finding our apartment (heck of a walk from main block) & longing for a cuppa having drunk our water on transfer there was no water in apartment -trudged back to reception to be told I could buy a bottle but shop was closed (ok once you've bought said bottle you can fill it free ). Otherwise ok, but if your looking for a peaceful day by pool forget it& "quiet " pool is also kids pool. The resort is rubbish too. Luckily weather was great, apartment good &foood fine, won't be going back.
