This hotel really knows how to look after its guests. From start to finish everything was spot on. I emailed the hotel in advance with a room request for health reasons and received a very prompt reply advising they will try their best and they certainly did just that, everything I had asked for we received. Such friendly helpful staff, the reception staff were amazing, in particular Diana, who went the extra mile for us, by even writing a note for our taxi driver in case he did not know what we needed. The rooms were large and spacious and exceptionally clear. Mini toiletries in the bathroom, lots of clothes hangers in the wardrobe, 2 large single beds and a sofa bed, table, chairs and large vanity unit. Patio sizes do vary, we had large ones with sunloungers, tables and chairs. The hotel grounds were spotless with lots of sunloungers dotted around this very large complex with windbreakers. 2 pool bars and Africa bar. Mail pool bar serves a late continental breakfast, snacks and afternoon tea. The Gala meals on both Christmas day and New years eve were amazing and so well organised. We have been to many hotels and these Gala meals and presentation topped any we have ever had. Various animation teams Italian, French and other nationalities, I think they all started at this hotel in November they were so energetic and happy in their work, they never seem to stop and always around day and night to entertain the guests of all ages will a smile on their face. The hotel runs like clock work, bearing in mind the size of it and the number of guests it holds. Our electricity went off, I reported it and within minutes the electrician was there ans repaid in seconds. Every member of staff we had the pleasure to meet were fantastic and so hard working, reception, bar staff, restaurant, cleaning, I would definitely recommend and hopefully return. Our group consisted of ages of 10 - 80. Thanks so much for making our Christmas ans New Year Special, you have nailed it SBH Monica Beach
Lovely hotel. Light and spacious. Staff very helpful but discrete Room lovely with balcony overlooking the beach with palm trees around. Food excellent and very varied. No need to repeat a meal if you do not want to as so much choice and food always hot. Lovely walks on the beach, tennis to play or just swim or read a novel. Great relaxing time in beautiful surroundings.
The initial look of the hotel is very pleasing. Light, bright and very welcoming. From the outset you can see it has been well designed for wheelchairs. Slopes everywhere and even a low desk at reception. Check in was quick and the staff were very polite. The wheelchair accessible room was just that. Roll in shower and support bars by the toilet. Excellent. Ok, so the shower didn’t have a chair but using the chair from the patio worked fine. The staff take care to make sure everywhere is clean and fresh. When using the shower the entire bathroom got flooded but it didn’t get into the room. The food in the restaurant was ok, not world class but OK. I never went hungry and always found something to eat, mainly fish and pork cooked on the griddle with the appearance of chicken or beef now and again. Chips, pizza, salad and pasta were also on offer every day. The pool area was clean and well organised. One pool had signs of the interior lining flaking off, but the semi heated pool was very welcoming on cloudy days. One of the things the hotel management needs to control is the sun bed towel leavers. It’s probably the worst I’ve ever see with the majority of sun bed with towels getting a tan. The large pool slide seems to be an embarrassment as it doesn’t work. The slope isnt steep enough and the surface isn’t slippy so you have push yourself down with your arms and legs. DOH! The alcohol (spirits) was typical Canaria style. Cheap and low alcohol volume, around 25% for vodka and gin. That’s why they give you loads in a glass. Bar staff were like all the other staff, very friendly, efficient, polite and professional. The animations were great and full of energy. The evening entertainment was a mixed bag, some good, some not so. For the class and standard of the hotel I’d put it as an average 3* classification, and thats what its rated as. Overall a lovely stay and relaxing holiday with nothing to worry about from start to finish.
Lovely hotel very clean staff friendly but the food was horrendous that was a big let down as everything else was great not very much to do in local area but good for a relaxing holiday as long as you eat elsewhere
arrived home last night after a wonderful week at this hotel. on arriving met at reception by lovely staff Especially Samuel and Bianca and another lady whose name I didn't catch.I told Samuel I had been trying to learn Spanish and every day he helped me, thank you from your Liverpool friends..we had apartment 82 lovely.. but no view only lovely trees and the other apartments, I would have liked a better view. but room was nice. the food was really good, even if you are fussy there is something to eat. we did find the drinks a bit weak, but still enjoyed. all the staff from reception, cleaners gardeners maintenance restaurant staff, bar staff, all need a thank you. but the animation team, well they work so hard, long hours and most of them smiling all the time. the shows they put on are really good. Vincento, Martin, good fun. thank you ..yes it is mainly german, Italian, French but this is not a problem we enjoyed it all. we hope to return again.. best wishes to you all.
We were four very tired nurses in need of a rest and rest we did, in beautiful surroundings and great weather. We had a lovely sea view room ( for 2 to share) which was spotless, never saw an insect never mind a cockroach the lovely Maria cleaned our rooms every day, the food was fab and fresh and we had so much to choose from, all the staff were lovely especially the animation team who were jack of all trades even serving up lovely cocktails they made fresh right in front of the pool we're Scottish and even though Brits are in the minority we weren't treated any different from anyone else. We go on hol every year together and can honestly say this is the best time we've had. Well done everyone at Monica Beach!
My partner booked us a week here for my birthday . Some of the reception staff were lovely and helpful . Signed an agreement to say we would notify hotel first if you become ill as people have been claiming from england for being ill on holiday . My partner was ill during our stay an had a bad sickness which we think was a mild food poisoning . I did inform reception but they just wished him well . I dont blame the hotel for the poisoning anyway i blame the local animal park without naming names. Was told by the holiday rep for jet2 that the animal park was 40 percent off but was not the case when got there . Wouldnt recommend that to visit. The asian restaurant was average minimal choice but made a change from what can only be described as the cattle market restaurant . Pushing and shoving over food . Me an my partner went for breakfast and evening meal at opening times as rest of times were carnage . The daily show puddings were nice. Good choice of puddings at hotel . Food was average repeated food . Room was clean all the cleaners did a fantastic job of keeping the hotel areas an rooms clean. Cocktails were small but being all inclusive could go back up for more . Nowhere to sit to view entertainment unless arrived early . Bar got crowded and other nationalities seem to be served before english this happened to me on several ocassions plus the day spent alone round the pool the bar staff and cleaners spoke to the germans but didnt even greet me with a hello . Maybe they were regulars at the hotel. The hotel was on the beach the beach made this holiday as again unless you stick your towel on a bed at 8 not enough sun beds . The shop in hotel was nice reasonable price. No bottle water given out for all inclusive thats a first for me in a four star hotel . Some of the shows were really good the entertainment team did a brilliant job at halloween of decorating an put on a good show and halloween walk through. The hotel wished me a happy birthday and left a voucher for a bottle of champayne which was lovely . Small shopping places near by but jandia shops much better . Some nice walks on the beaches too . Dont think we would stay again unless price was cheap .room was cleaned daily - total rip off you have to pay for a safe in the room and there was no way i was going without a safe after reading some of the reviews. The english people in the hotel was prob 10 out of 200 .
Rude staff the food was poor, same thing most days and most of the time it was stale/cold Cockroaches in my room on several occasions and the receptionist said just spray it. I do not recommend this hotel!!!!!!!!!
I know this is a late review but I can’t get this off my mind and I want people to be aware: Me and my boyfriend thought we’d go on our first holiday together and we booked to go to SBH Monica Beach for 2 weeks back in July. We arrived on a Saturday evening and our room was on the beachfront. On the Wednesday we went to watch the Elvis Show and it was the first evening we decided to go watch the entertainment. It was really good and when it finished we went back to our room. When we arrived at our room our stuff was everywhere. All over the bed and all over the floors. I completely broke down into tears. They’d broken both our suitcases, gone through all our clothes and possessions and stolen all of our money. We’d taken 210€ between us and all of it was gone. The balcony door had been “broken into” and the curtain was pulled across to hide it. (I say “broken into” because in the morning we looked closer and it was VERY obviously done from the inside as the damage was to the inside and not the outside of the door). We went straight to the reception and we got told specifically to not call the police because they wouldn’t speak English and wouldn’t help us. We now know this is complete lies and they do - but it was our first holiday away from parents and we didn’t know any better! We were then informed the manager would help us in the morning. It got to the morning after a completely sleepless night and the manager didn’t want to talk to us. He was very rude and blunt and said he’d sort it out at 10.30am when breakfast was finished. (It wasn’t only the manager that was rude - there was a very rude receptionist too who shouted at us and did not care about what had happened to us). Me and my boyfriend decided to go back to the room to take some pictures for the travel insurance and when we got there the manager had sent the maintenance man to FIX the balcony door before calling the police or even looking at it himself!! This screamed ‘cover up’ to me and my boyfriend straight away - why would you destroy all evidence of someone breaking into your hotel and not even make an attempt to get the authorities involved? It took us 2 days until we managed to get to the police station, which was a 30 minute bus journey to Morre Jable, as we had no money and the hotel wouldn’t help us with phone calls or with finding ways of getting there. The police informed us that the hotel should have called them, the police would’ve taken fingerprints and hopefully caught the person who did it. I have never known a hotel to care so little about the guests welfare and wellbeing and to just try to cover everything up completely. It still makes me shake and feel sick to the bone that everything got as bad as it did and that it completely ruined our expensive holiday that we’d saved for and looked forward to for so long! We got told by the manager that the hotel would give us our money back and 2 days of our holiday, which we had spent trying to sort out the robbery and the whole day at the police station, if we contacted them. We tried going through Thomas Cook and they literally made us wait 6 weeks to tell us there was nothing they could do and me and my partner had personally tried contacting the hotel director and they completely ignored us and never tried getting back to us. It’s blatantly obvious to me and my partner that it was an inside job and that the hotel deliberately didn’t help us because they knew it too. I would never go back and waste my money on such appalling service and safety. I never thought this would happen to me and I never thought it would still keep me awake for months after but it still upsets me to this day. Please please please take all of this into account if you stay and remember that the police do speak English and they WILL help you. Thank you for reading this x
We travelled to the hotel with a family group of adults and kids and enjoyed a week of relaxing in the sun. The rooms were great - spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony and a shower that actually had high pressure and wasn't falling in bits! We were all inclusive and the food was really good - all meals breakfast, lunch, dinner and the snack bars were better than we were expecting. Usually during an all inclusive holiday we get a little bored and end up eating out of the hotel a couple of times but we enjoyed the food all week. Lots of choice for adults and kids, food prepared fresh by chefs and salads, etc replenished regularly. The waiting staff were lovely, friendly and helpful - in fact this was the case for all staff in the hotel. During the day there was plenty of sunbed choice - and although we were told beds shouldn't be reserved and towels would be removed some folk still insisted on bagging the best ones and leaving towels on them for hours without using them - although they were moved round the pools - elsewhere they got away with it. It's a lovely complex with quiet areas to lay if needed - we particularly liked the terrace overlooking the beach with access to the bar down steps. Great for kids wanting to swim in the sea or the pool and away from the entertainment team by the main pool. The pools were lovely - if a little cold but a word of warning in that although pool toys are sold in the hotel shop (lilo's, balls etc) they are not permitted in any of the pools which our kids were disappointed in. The one major thing that lets this hotel down is the evening choice of bars and entertainment. There is no outside bar or terrace area open in the evening which we found strange as the bar near the beach would be a lovely place to sit at night. There was one bar inside in a very hot and stuffy room where the entertainment happened which wasn't great - one night was an Elvis night which consisted of a film shown of Elvis and the entertainment team dancing - another was Grease - again a recording of the music with the entertainment team acting out the parts. Would have been fine if there was an alternative bar but there isn't - you can sit anywhere you like but you have to trail down to that bar for all drinks which was baffling. Some folk clearly enjoyed the entertainment which is great but it would have been nice to have an alternative. We went out of the hotel once - caught the bus to Morro Jable. The bus stop was a 5 minute walk down hill from the hotel then a 20 min ride - well worth a look for the lovely shops and beach - the hotel is also near the zoo but we didn't go. So in summary we would go back again as we really enjoyed our holiday - hopefully they will re-think the evening choice of bars and open up outside.
