Affordable hotel! - no refrigerator - no A/C Other than that, it was ok
This hotel is in walking distance of Sachenhausen ("Saxon town", a popular restaurant/apple-wine location in Frankfurt) as well as Old Town (Altstadt). These are the two main tourist attractions in Germany, and there is no need to worry about getting transportation to them. The only downside of this hotel's location is that it is relatively far from many of the bahnhof's (lokal and sud are the closest, but you'll need to take a tram or bus and maybe do some transfers in order to get there). You can walk to them, but it's a long walk with luggage. There is a taxi station directly across from the hotel that is often staffed with cabs waiting to pick people up. Our room was clean and relatively comfortable and included free WiFi and free breakfast. We had a double bed that was made from two twin beds squished together. Consequently, there was a gap between the mattresses. This kind of construction is common in (budget) German hotels, and so I cannot complain. The foam mattresses were not very comfortable (not firm enough to provide a lot of support), but they could have been worse. The WiFi was slow at times, but it was free. The breakfast was the standard German style -- lots of cheese, lunch meat, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and some cereal. There were some scrambled eggs, but they had a very strange taste to them. In general, Americans have a lot of culture shock when they encounter German breakfasts. I cannot blame the hotel for this -- you'd find a very similar setup at any other German hotel. We were just grateful the breakfast was included. The hotel staff were helpful and happy to call us a cab to the airport (which arrived in just a few minutes). So we were stay here again if we were to go to Frankfurt. Having said that, we probably wouldn't need to spend much more time in Frankfurt. Two or three days is enough to see most of what you'd want to see as a tourist. One warning -- being so close to Sauchenhausen, there can be a lot of street noise. It dissipates by 11pm usually, but you should be prepared for it.
Receptionist were trying to change the price I already had paid for.
