We stayed at the Mercure for two nights while visiting the historic sites in Wurzburg. The hotel is conveniently located on the other side of the river from the old town. This is exactly what we were looking for as we love to walk. We parked our car in the carpark (a bit confusing procedure, but it was fine) and spent two days exploring the city on foot. The hotel is modern and the room was clean and comfortable. The free wifi worked well. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel or have a snack or drinks there so we cannot comment, but it is always nice to have those services available. This hotel fit our needs perfectly and we would stay there again.
Clean but not particularly cheap. Limited menu, a nice warm-up I would call it. No guaranteed car parking despite adding it to the booking and when I got it I hardly could get out due to being blocked by another guest. Apparently no control but paying for it as an extra.
We stayed here for 2 nights - the hotel is centrally located off the Mainbrucke and very close to the old town. The hotel itself is modern and clean. Our room overlooked the road but there was no road noise and had a beautiful view of the town. The breakfast was delicious offering sausages, eggs and bacon as well as fresh fruits, breads and pastries. A very nice receptionist took our bags as we had a few hours before our flight and wanted to have one last look around the town before making our way to the airport. It's a great hotel and we will definitely stay again!
We arrived with a party of 24 people from Prague to spend one night on our way back to Brussels. The coach could park right in front of the hotel which made the luggage problem non existant ! Everything was planned for our arrival and the rooms had all the required amenities. The carpeting in the corridors looked a bit special but that did not bother us. We also booked supper in advance and this was well taken care off by an external caterer. Afterwards most of us stayed at the nearby bar to enjoy some extra drinks. Breakfast was of the buffet type which suits everybodies' taste.
We stayed here on our first night of a cycle trip along the Main River. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff were very good. the hotel is only a short walk from the historic centre, which is well worth a visit.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. It is not in the historic centre, but reasonably close. The staff were helpful and friendly. The wifi worked well. The room was clean and there was a tea pot and a coffee machine. I wish there were a mini fridge - that would have been much appreciated. One other point (though minor) is that the shower is one of these partially open showers which it is impossible to use without getting water all over, and there was not much storage space by the sink (though there was a shelf above the toilet). I liked the ability to open the windows as well (very rare in the US/UK). We didn't try the breakfast as we are not big breakfast eaters and it was a bit on the expensive side, but it looked good. There is paid parking on-site.
Nice welcome by name, clean room and very good located; near the center. The breakfast was nice and complete. The bar area a bit small (restaurant side closed with a cord) and not very flexible staff towards us (small group). Strange parking lot which could have been explained a bit more (not working car elevators).
The hotel is down by the river, it is comfortable and has friendly staff. Our room overlooked the town and river, great views, comfortable room. I just wish the windows opened wider to allow air in on a hot day/night, as we're not fans of air conditioning. It doesn't have a restaurant, but just across the road is a very good one. The hotel is close to the Alte Brücke, the main footbridge into town, a photographic must and an opportunity to watch the lock working. We wandered around the pretty town and took in the Marienburg fortress too.
My husband and I spent one night at the Mercure Hotel after visiting with his family near Schweinfurt. We were on our way to Frankfurt the next day to spend the night before flying home. We really enjoy Wuerzburg and this hotel is in a very convenient location to go the the historic section of the city. We were able to easily walk to the old bridge over the Main that evening for dinner and hike up the hill to the Marienburg Festung the next morning after breakfast. We had a standard double on the street level. In spite of that it was quiet and the only issue was that we definitely had to close the heavy drape in order to have privacy. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We had scrambled eggs which was a switch from the usual during this stay. The coffee was good. All in all, I would stay there again as I hope to visit Wuerzburg again as it is one of my favorite German cities.
This would have got a very good review if it wasn't for the size of the room. The staff were nice, the hotel was clean, the parking was good but the room was nowhere near the size I've come to expect from Mercure. It was OK but that's all.
