Maritim Hotel Würzburg4.0 out of 5.0

I had booked 2 rooms for myself and a colleague, My colleague was woken up in the morning by raw sewage in his bathroom! It had leaked from the drain. When he called reception they did nothing! We needed to go down and demand that they fixed it! Later on that day, I went for a swim in the hotel pool. Next thing I know a member of staff had come in and started shouting at me about leaving wet footprints between the shower and the pool! I then asked to speak to the duty manager, who wasn't around because it was a Saturday! There has been absolutely no offer of any compensation at all, and still not a word from the manager. So to summarise, the day started with sewerage alarm clock, carried on with being yelled at by a member of staff, and ended with no attempt to make this right. All in all, the experience is the worst I have ever had in any hotel ever!
The hotel is well situated , rather close to the city centre. The staff is friendly and courteous, especially in the large breakfast room which provides a very pleasant outdoor terrace. The rooms are medium sized and show a bit of wear and tear (especially the bathroom). Shampoo and bath soap are not renewed daily. Beds are a bit too soft. Large TV in the rooms and free Wifi everywhere. Only two elevators for the entire hotel make for long waiting times. Ask for a room facing the inner courtyard, since trafic is loud and busy at the front. Parking spaces in the covered garage are narrow but not expensive (€ 8 per night). Breakfast is quite luxurious (check out the splendid butter dispenser !) and the staff is extremely helpful. Nice hotel which (just) deserves its 4 stars ranking
Looking at a map, it appears as if the Maritim Würzburg is far off from everything. In actuality, it is about an 8-minute walk from the train station, then from the hotel you're in easy reach of the centre of town. My single room was large with an easy chair and good-sized work area. Free wifi was good, although it cut out for a couple of hours one day. The bathroom boasted a tub and bidet. Breakfast was superior to most I've tried in Germany; more variety and quantity of everything. Breakfast was very popular, so you might consider getting in there right at 6:30. There was a special note about the “memory” pillow provided. However, It seemed to be not much more than the usual insubstantial tea towel in a pillowcase that is usually provided. All in all, I liked the Maritim. It checked most of my boxes. I found the staff professionally warm and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
Stayed here for one night pre river cruise. It is a simple hotel the room had what I needed but no tea or coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was amazing huge buffet. On the down side on the Sunday night we stayed there the bar was not open for anyone to get a drink so had to go hunting in the town where everything was closed except one bar we found
This hotel was a complete surprise. We stayed in conjunction with a cruise tour. Normally they choose good hotels. This time they chose an EXCELLENT hotel. The location was a bit of a ways from the central city but close enough to walk or use public transportation which was about 200 yards away. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant, bar, and breakfast room were elegant and reasonably priced. It is a place I would definitely seek if back in Wurzburg.
We were impressed with the hotel from them working so quickly to get our large group into their rooms, printing out boarding passes, and generally being helpful. Rooms were very nice and the breakfast was outstanding, as others have noted.
Clean, fresh room reminded me of Marriott Courtyard. Had trouble managing temperature in room. I struggle sleeping under a duvet rather than sheets and spread. Had no problem with mattress. The breakfast buffet was the best we experienced in a week in Germany. Staff was very helpful.
The hotel is in good location, old town is reachable within 10 min walk. Style of the hotel is a bit outdated, i think it's late '80. Same as many of the old Maritim Hotels in Germany, the investments for refurbishments have been limited over the last 25 years. Room is clean, with a small balcony, god mattress, good tv and enough space. The WIFI is slow, luckily High speed Telekom (paid) is available. A 4 * property should have a water kettle for coffee/tea. The light in the bathroom is terrible and the pillow is as flat as leaf within seconds As I got a fantastic rate value for money is ok.
The rooms were fairly nice enough. Front desk was very helpful and printed out our boarding passes. Breakfast was VERY nice and tasty. Little distant from the old city, but not too far to be a problem.
Stayed in this hotel for one night, the Hotel was lovely, the room was nice and cozy, I had two single twin beds instead of a double bed, but it did not bother me. The staff was agreeable and the food was fine.
