I have been in these hotel for a week for a conference, with two other colleagues. At the moment of the booking we had three options, and decided to book this hotel because it looked nice from the website and seemed to have more services. BUT, already when we book, they made a real mess with our reservation, forcing us to loose time and contact them by phone more than one time (getting a very unpolite reply from the reception, somebody even speaking with higher level of voice demonstrating a high level of unpolitness!! even if we were just clients that wanted to be sure about having the reservation secured...) The day in which we arrived at the hotel, we realized that (information obviusly not clear and somehow hidden in the website) 1) for the use of gym, sauna and pool, one has to pay 5 euros per day. That is a lot considering the price per room per night!! (I paid 120 euros per night with a early bird price discounted) 2) there is wifi, but the speed is so slow that one can not do anything (ridicoulus for a hotel where the majority of people go there for business) 3) at the reception we received again a unpolite behaviour. The room is fine, and the breakfast as well (and people at breakfast are much more polite than personnel at the reception), these are the only good things I can say. We have all been very disappointed by this hotel, way below the average of 4 stars hotel in Germany!! And, to finish, when we did the check out, again a bad experience. I was treated like a stupid, just because the personnel made again a mistake and a mess with our reservations and were not able to print for me the correct receipt that I need. (printing a receipt saying that I paid with the credit card even if I paid via bank transfer.. and not being able to change this I just was treated in a very unpolite way). Absolutely not recommended. Have to increase the level of the services to be worth a 4 stars hotel! And need to train the personnel at the reception to learn how to be polite!
We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Maritim. The room was nice.... but the bathroom was fantastic; rainfall digital control shower, heated floors and heated, embedded light mirror. The breakfast buffet, which we prepaid for with the room, was awesome. They have authentic German breakfast foods.....as well as American breakfast fare. You may also order from a menu also, I believe. They have another restaurant and a separate bar (Main-hatten)off of the lobby. Since we hadn't adjusted to the time difference, it was nice that the bar was open after midnight. We were treated to cucumber mules for the first time. The Maritim is within walking distance to everything.....the Main train station, the Saint's bridge, the fortress and the Residence.....you name it. Enjoy your visit to Wurzburg!
Whilst the room was a great size, I'm not sure what it is with the Maritim chain but maybe they bought all their furnishings and beds from the same supplier in the 1960s and no one advised them to move on. Just saying. Hotel was well placed with great service from the reception through to the breakfast area, even had humour (or just professional actors). Nice stay, would stay again.
I would rate Maritim Wurzburg as a high end 3 star hotel. The hotel is situated centrally, a stones-throw away from the Main River and about a 10 minute walk from the station, at a very leisurely pace. The Wurzburg Residence is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel and there are several nice restaurants and bars in the area. The reception staff were friendly, but they seemed to be understaffed. I was here in June and there were 2 people on reception. There were several people staying at the hotel for a conference (the hotel offers several spacious meeting rooms for conference groups) and as a result check out was very slow. The rooms themselves were fine. They were big and airy and had a functioning tv and fridge (very important in June). There was no tea/coffee facilities, but most 3 star hotels do not have this. The shower worked fine (although a bit dated) and free toiletries were provided. My biggest problem with the room was the fact that the air-condition would not cool down the room. I set to to the lowest possible temperature (believe this was 10 degrees) and it was still about 28-30 degrees in the room. Several others had issues and believe that the centrally controlled a/c had not been turned on. Had the a/c functioned the hotel would have been deserving of a 4 star rating. Breakfast was fantastic. This was one of the best hotel buffets I have experienced. The variety was huge - anything you could want was available. You could either sit in the restaurant or on the terrace. The experience was very positive. The hotel also had a nice little bar which was open late. All in all, I would recommend the hotel and stay here again if I was in Wurzburg.
Close to all the main attractions. Aged hotel with new features. The bathroom had been redone and was well up to shape. The room was small and could do with some refurnishing. The breakfast is superb, as always (this was my 3rd stay at this hotel).
This is a nice modern Hotel. We stayed on the ground floor and our room had a nice outlook and was very quiet. The room had a good comfortable bed and we slept well. We were only there the one night. The hotel is located near the river and close to town. Our package included breakfast and this was quite comprehensive. We found the staff to be very pleasant. All up a good experience.
Stayed two nights. Great room which was very spacious. The staff was very helpful. The delicious breakfast buffet was elegant. Difficulty using the wi-fi was the only negative. Would recommend highly.
We stayed here one night and glad that was the case. Nothing great about it. I didn't like the room but the location was good. There would be better places to stay in the area in my opinion. Saying that, I though breakfast was quite good.
Good if you need to be right smacked in town, near the river and the station as well. Old like most of the hotels in Europe but clean. Have English speaking staff and breakfast was alright but always crowded.
Very good location in the centre of town. 15 minute walk to the jaw-droppingly beautiful hofkirche. Comfortable rooms. Air con and wifi were good. Staff were helpful enough but there was always a queue at reception. Very good car parking facilities at 8 euros per night. We hadn't paid the extra for breakfast but I was still surprised that there was no free coffee either in the room or in the lobby. When we stayed, there were renovations going on, so we were subjected to drilling noise until 5.30 pm. Drilling re-commenced the next morning. We were warned about this on arrival, but by then we had already made the booking, so we had to put up with it. Also of note was the very unusual semi-transparent sliding door to the en-suite bathroom.
