Even though this hotel is under renovation, the rooms are great, bathroom has an awesome shower and the huge bed so comfortable to sleep in. They even gave us complimentary bottle of sparkling wine! The breakfast is fantastic, can't say anything negative about the hotel. The renovations are in the main entrance only so it never bothered us. Would highly recommend it and would come back anytime. Thanks again!!
This hotel is in the perfect place to see all of the sites in Florence. There were numerous places to eat and we could walk to all of the sites. It was very close to the outdoors leather market. We had two adjoining rooms that had an outside courtyard that connected them. Our rooms had recently been renovated and the bathrooms and showers were a nice size. Breakfast was included and the staff was helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting Florence.
It is located right at the city center, The room was renovated so it was beautiful and cosy with very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also new with a big shower. Free wifi, the staff was polite and very helpful in anything we asked. The breakfast was good and everything was homemade. The hotel is under full renovation procedure and there is construction but we didnt hear or have been disturbed by anything.
The hotel is a short walk from the train station and the Duomo and it overlooks the Medici Chapels. There are many good restaurants and bars close by. The bedroom and bath area were large and updated. We had a view of the piazza and Medici Chapels. The front desk staff were helpful and courteous. They have many items available for breakfast.
Having never written a negative review before I am very sad to have to write such a negative review. I came to this hotel with high expectations given some of the other reviews but got a bit of a surprise at the state of the building on arrival. I was willing to overlook the construction site reception area and old facilities as rustic, Italian charm. Unfortunately this would be the highlight not the lowlight. With angle grinders, hammering and large air conditioning fans outside our, non-soundproofed door we were unable to even speak in our room, let alone relax (I have video's of the sound level if anyone is interested - deafening!). We were paying what was a reasonable sum of money in order to live in a construction site. We contacted the reception staff to discuss but they could not move our room and did not offer any solution or any recompense. They said that the room should not have been provided to guests but thought it was still ok that we still paid the full rate. We were eventually moved to a quieter room inside for the final afternoon of our stay (make sure you request this before arrival if you have already booked!). Since then I have sent multiple emails to the hotel and have not received any response. Terrible management with positive, helpful staff. What an absolute disaster - stay somewhere else!
We stayed at Corte dei Medici for 4 nights at the end of May. The location was amazing and super convenient. Breakfast was delicious, wifi worked great and the service was exceptional. Our only struggle was finding the name of the hotel on the outside of the building. Because it is in a 500 year old building, the brass name plate is easy to overlook if you are not watching carefully. We followed our map app to find the building and stood outside looking at the building for a few minutes before we noticed the door.
The room was very clean, comfortable, and had a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful and the girls providing the breakfast were very nice. All the employees were very helpful. There was a small elevator to each floor which helped with the suitcases. The hotel was in a great location, close to everything.
We stayed for several days and couldn't have asked for a lovelier hotel, a better location, a friendlier staff, a more gracious welcome, tastier foods and more kindness than we received at the Corte dei Medici. It was accessible to so many sights and our room had a view of the Duomo, a few blocks away! We were comfortable from start to finish. Mille grazie to Nina, Rachel, Ursula, Chiara, Anna, Angela, Fillippo, Maurizio and the entire staff! They made us feel at home!
I stayed at Corte dei Medici from 22 May - 28th of May in room 104. Let me start with what is good: location - central and walk-able. Very clean rooms, great service - eg. allowed us to eat breakfast early our last day due to catch our train. The breakfast was also outstanding. Very generous portion However - our room (which could accommodate 3 twin beds) - room 104 - had terrible air conditioning. It was ~80-85 degrees F during our stay and I even had to take a picture of the thermostat blinking red and show it to the front desk. Our air conditioning did not work until the 26th of May. This would not have been an issue except for the street noise and the noise from the cafe directly below our room - which played loud dance music from ~8 AM - midnight each night. We could not open our windows to enjoy the cool night air. Lastly wifi was weak and unreliable. Maybe b/c the hotel was sold out.
We loved our stay at Hotel Corte dei Medici! The renovated rooms were beautiful and spacious. The location was a convenient walk from the train station and all of the major sights in Florence. The breakfast each morning was delicious and everything was homemade, even all jams/jellies and butter! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is undergoing renovations and we look forward to coming back for another visit to see the finished project!
