Had a wonderful stay at the Seaside Inn on a September weekend with my daughter. We wanted to be near Ocean City and within walking distance of the beach at a good price. Unknown to us, it was Ocean City Bike Week! The Seaside Inn turned out to be perfect; we were within a 15 minute drive of the Ocean City Boardwalk, but away from the crowds and noise. When you cross the line into Delaware, you automatically feel more relaxed and low key. We got a room on the 3rd floor, towards the back. It's a pet friendly hotel; we didn't have a pet with us, saw a few, but never any problem with noise at all. The room was good sized with a balcony, half-height fridge, two comfortable queen beds, breakfast table and updated bath. You won't get an ocean view, but you are about two blocks from the beach. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and free coffee in the lobby every morning - no coffee maker in the room. We visited to both Ocean City and Bethany (rode bikes up coastal highway, a really nice ride and wide shoulder) during our stay. The hotel is an outstanding value. I think I have a new favorite place at the beach!
This inn is in a great location and very close to the beach. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was great, letting us check in early. One thing that was surprising was how quiet the inn was. You could not hear the traffic outside ( had a room in the back) Nice small pool inside. A/C worked great. Would stay here again.
We read what a lot of reviewers have written here before making a reservation. So we will try to write a few new things that may be of interest to potential travelers. OK...let's start with the refrigerator...this one had a freezer in it...YES!!! How many times have you been to a place and have something like, say, a gel freezer pack and the frige doesn't have a freezer...A+ on this. And, let's talk toilets...this one had a full lid cover and the place where you sit was a full ring, not one of those split things...yeah...sounds silly, but the cover on the toilet puts it above a lot of places. OK, a good air conditioner...quiet, with an energy saver for nighttime sleeping. In fact, as many have written, this place is quiet...very quiet. So, in a word: GOOD. Unfortunately, there were (at least) two wall plugs that had no juice...one near the refrigerator was sort of on and off, so the refrigerator defrosted itself overnight one night. One wall plug was just plain dead...so you computer does not charge up over night. We had three small table lamps with three TINY CFL's. The result is that if you plan on reading, forget it. For heaven's sake...jack up the price by a buck a day and give us some light. In a word: BAD. The key swipe card works by holding it in front of the sensor on the door knob. But, on the third morning of our stay the thing wouldn't open the door. So we went to the office for help....not a word of apology...the owner took our card and asked only, "Are you leaving tomorrow?" A-ha! Apparently these things are programmed for a particular time period, and ours gave out before our planned exit from the place. So the card was reprogrammed and we were back in the room...Oh, wait...the next morning as we were bringing luggage out to the car at 6:30 am, the card failed again. Luckily my wife was in the room and opened it for me...but for the next half hour we had to leave the door ajar as we took our luggage down the two flights of stairs (no elevator) to the car. In a word...UGLY. Now, remember we were in just this one room...maybe the things that I have mentioned as BAD and UGLY wouldn't be a problem in some other room. Note that the BAD and the UGLY are all things that are easily fixable. So, in summary, we'd like to say that this place is "GOOD"...certainly not VERY GOOD, and GREAT would be over the top. So three stars is the best we can do here...it's above average but three stars is closest to the truth.
Loved this small, 3-story hotel. Great location with nice beach right around the corner and great restaurants right across the street. Having a refrig and microwave in the room was very nice. Although the hotel overlooks the street, the balcony is big enough for 2 to sit, and it's quiet when the balcony door is closed.
I liked this place. It fit our needs perfectly. It's not much to look at on the outside; it gives a kind of retro vibe. But the room itself was clean and had newer flooring. The balcony was nice, as was the a/c unit. The pool was comfortable, and there were lots of lounge chairs surrounding it. It's not far from the beach, either. It only takes a few minutes to walk there. Staff was friendly. I would go back if staying in Fenwick.
I really enjoyed my week long stay at this clean, friendly, well-run inn on Fenwick Island. It is far enough from the crazy consumer frenzy of Ocean City that the beach is mellow, but good restaurants are walking distance. The proprietors, a friendly Greek couple, are kind and helpful, but they run a tight ship. Everything is in pretty good shape and clean. The pool in the courtyard is tiny, but clean and refreshing. (Don't forget to hose off the sand with the outdoor shower, first! ) Beds are decent, pillows good, etc. The towels aren't scratchy! ! Yay! The housekeeping staff are also friendly and considerate, and make lovely little scallops out of the hand towels when they freshen your room. Everyone works hard at the Seaside so that you can relax! We were on second floor, surprisingly quiet despite dogs and children in residence (great hotel for both! ) No elevator, three floors. Helpful to know ahead of time, glad we checked other people's reviews. The beach is a block away, for sunrise or just sunbathing, etc. For a spectacular sunset, cross the Coastal Highway and walk out through the residential streets to the Bay. If you're lucky you'll see horseshoe crabs, leaping fish, and many smaller regular crabs and fish scuttling along the shoreline. And did I mention the sunset? Spectacular!! Wish we could have stayed longer. .. Definitely will return! !
My wife and I stayed at the Seaside Inn for 4 days in July 2016. The management and staff were very professional, courteous and engaging. We had recommendations for breakfast (Jimmies) and dinner and found the staff to be very attentive to us. The rooms had a microwave and mini-refrigerator and were in very good condition. The cleaning staff did an excellent job. The hotel is about a block from the beach in Fenwick so very convenient. The building is made of brick and concrete so noise was not a factor. The hotel had ample parking. The rooms were a bit larger than the normal room but with the beach so close, it was great. There were a number of families there while we were there and we felt very comfortable at this hotel. Coffee was available in the lobby each morning and there is a pool in the middle of the hotel and perfect for little children etc. We will definitely return. A+
We only visited for a weekend (2 nights) but we were impressed. It is an older hotel, but kept clean and spruced up. The nightly rate was reasonable and the staff were helpful. We enjoyed our balcony and complementary coffee (in the office). It is located very close to the beach (a 3 minute walk). It is also a 3 minute walk to Just Hooked, a delicious seafood restaurant. We plan to return in the future. The only negative that I have to share is a non-working/empty ice machine and the doors to the laundry & janitor's closet are glass and look dumpy/rundown. But I can certainly vacation with that and I plan to again.
The recent positive reviews are pretty accurate - Rooms are kept spotless, location is great with a short walk on a quiet street to a large guarded beach with clean soft sand. The service was very good - front desk personnel were friendly and check-in was smooth. Though the pool looked inviting, I didn't try it since I spent every day at the beach. Location is in-town with walking access to restaurants, shops, etc. The clientele seemed to be mostly young families. With this said, I was concerned that the exterior doors to the hotel are not secured - anyone could walk off the street and wander around the motel. Also, the interior hallways, although clean, could use some sprucing up to make the facility more inviting. There were some minor maintenance issues in the room as well - tub didn't drain well and some of the fixes to wear-and-tear were done poorly. If you're expecting a Marriott or Double Tree, you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a good value motel that's clean and convenient to the beach and town, you will be very happy.
We just spent the weekend at Seaside. The inn is conveniently located and you can access the beach without crossing the busy highway. The room was clean, had a fridge and microwave. We were greeted by Irvin and he was very pleasant and helpful. I would stay here again. Also, they have free coffee in the morning.
