Moderate facilities, clean mostly. Nothing special but its one of the cheaper places in Erie.

Rooms are not nice or clean. Sink was clogged, heat would not turn down.

Was not a good experience..... owner was rude and rooms could have been cleaned better

wasn't bad close to what I needed nice staff, clean room very hospitable. Cozy beds also.

Filthy in every aspect from the parking garage to the room and bathroom. Ceilings peeling apart, tattered furnishings and dirty floors in the room.

I tried to switch to 4 different rooms because the air conditioning was not working properly in my room. The air conditioning didn't work in any of the other rooms either. The coolest my room got was 78 degrees. The staff tried to accommodate by switching me rooms but after trying so many different rooms, I just left without staying the night because the room was too hot to sleep in. The location was nice, but the room was just too hot.

We had to get a second room after only being there 5 mins, due to an issue with the door locks. The air conditioning in the whole building is terrible, except for the lobby and where the breakfast was served-that was an icebox! The room was dirty, pillows were thin and uncomfortable. It was supposed to be an updated, newly renovated room. The parking garage was a joke too, and at times, not enough room for all the guests. We will never go back!

This was a cheap stay for our daughter's orientation. It served the purpose. Hotel staff was hard to get a hold of to even check in so don't rely on getting them for much more. Water leaked in the elevator which was a little scary. The continental breakfast was Frosted Flakes, no orange juice, yogurt and store bought pastries. Out of order waffle iron on display and toaster with only one side that works was there as well. It is a gorgeous hotel that appears to be on its last leg. Too bad, too. It is beautiful and close to everything. It needs TLC.

Central HVAC was still on heating mode, so there was no individual room control to cool the 81 degree room. Had to open the windows to the sounds of traffic and have a fan brought in to move the air.

The room was very clean and big. No fan in the bathroom so the bathroom got steamy fast, but no big deal.

Avalon was unable to activate the AC so my room was absolutely stifling. I had to sleep with the windows open and the street was noisy. I indicated I didn't need clean sheets daily so the maid also decided not to make the bed. The breakfast is the same daily and is terrible. The coffee was cold. When I asked for hot coffee, the waitress said, That's as hot as it's gunna git honey. The honey thing only works if the service is good and you're being quaint. She said it sarcastically and nasty. That answer is so wrong on so many levels. I would never ever stay there again. The front desk people were remarkable nice.

There NOTHING positive about my stay at the Avalon. The decor was right out of the 60's. The bed sheets and towels would not even make decent rags. The mattresses had to be decades old and were on squeaky old box springs. Wall paper was peeling everywhere. Stains were all over the carpeting. The place was very noisy. This place needs to gutted and fully renovated. Heck I didn't even have a remote AND they charged me over $100. I could go on, but you hopefully you get my point.

For the price ($100 a night), this place is pretty shabby. Rooms are badly in need of updates, carpets are stained throughout and HVAC in room was below average at best (set thermostat to 50 degrees just to get air moving). Free breakfast was carb-heavy and no eggs or breakfast meats in sight--told the cook was away so just cold foods. I guess none of the three available wait staff knew how to fry up bacon....?

I did not like the full size beds. The hotel looked like it had been very nice at one time, but it is in need of an upgrade.

Good location , free parking - rooms are older decor but comfortable bed. No cable tv, decent place for a modest budget

First when we arrive there was no one to help with our laugage we have to carryn everything w/o help from any of the staff. The picture from the web site was decieving the room is nothing like the picture. the room needs painting, the matress was torn they use safety pin to hold it together. the linen was not iron,it looks like some one just take the linen out of the dryer and throw it on the bed, the bed was very uncomfortable. If I was not tired from ttraveling, and the place was not close to the hospital conference I would have left the same day. the . Over price for its condition. They advertice for restaurant that non existent. My company recommended for us not to stay at this hotel but we did not recieve the list of hotel they recommended on time. I will never ever recommend this hotel to any body.

Not really what I expected, but it worked. Need help with the parking lot area. not user friendly.

Well from reading several awful reviews, we still decided to stay here because of location. This was an overnight girls getaway. Lake during day, Bars in walking distance at night. This hotel is in need of a MAJOR renovation. I think the maid only changed the sheets before we checked in. Candy wrapper on chair, stains all throughout the carpet, dirty shower, dust everywhere, greasy fingerprints on the bedboard, thin walls, mouldy window, No where to park as lot was full. They should not charge over $100 for a room. The only nice thing was the lobby area. Luckily we didnt spend that much time in the room!

This hotel was pretty bad. It made me wish we had booked a cheaper room at the Red Roof Inn or Motel 6. The hotel is very old and it shows in the decor and facilities. My boyfriend said the room smelled musty (the only time I'm thankful to have a cold and no sense of smell) so we turned on the A/C in hopes it would help. You only get the option of on/off with the A/C despite a knob that might fool you into thinking you have control over the actual temperature. The towels were scratchy and cheap, though thankfully clean. There wasn't even a pen or notepad in the room. The telephone had instructions for a wake-up call but, when set, it went off an hour later than the requested time. Luckily the funeral we were in town for didn't start until later in the afternoon or it could have caused us big problems. When coming and going, there were quite a few rowdy fellow travelers and I wondered if the cheap price or the proximity to downtown bars and baseball field were factors in drawing some shady customers. Hotel staff weren't overly friendly but not rude either. I wouldn't choose to stay here again though it could have been worse. At least the bathroom looked clean. Plus we got a view of the fireworks after the ballgame. It's in the heart of downtown where local businesses are trying to revitalize the neighborhood. There are some good restaurants in the area. I'd recommend 1201 Kitchen for something different and delicious. The bottom line is this hotel was one of very few with available rooms to fit our last minute need. Back in its heyday as a Hilton, I'm sure this was a great place to stay.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff, nice lobby and great outside garden area for a cup of coffee and to read the paper. Breakfast buffet at Benjamin's was good and reasonably priced. Under ground parking adequate but not great. Carpeting in hallways was old and dirty. Rooms were not cleaned. Mattresses and carpeting were old and dirty. View from room was nice. Location was convenient to Bayfront area attractions.
