My daughter and I recently enjoyed some time in Vanuatu and while staying at Benjor found the local staff to be very helpful and friendly. It's proximity to the Mele village and distance from Port Villa make it a great choice.
It is very quiet and out of town about 15 minutes, sometimes hard to get a bus by yourself back to the resort. (Because the fare isn't worth it for the driver) However, the villa I had was extremely spacious and nice. Good kitchen, and bathroom, it even had a bath. The staff were very friendly. I had trouble with the TV, it had no signal and it took 3 days before someone came to see to it, then when the man Sam did, he was very good and professional but unfortunately still couldn't get it to work, but he got the dvd player working, so I could watch dvds, so that was good. There was only another couple here when I was staying, so maybe that's why it felt like it lacked a vibe. It would be good for families wanting a get away.
My husband and I spent a beautiful 6 days at BenJor. The 2 bedroom Villa was perfect, fully equipped kitchen which allowed me to utilise the markets and Au Bon Marche. The staff were beautiful, the hosts were more than accomodating and the location was perfect and made it easy to access other sights and Port Vila. I can not recommend this venue highly enough. It was so lovely. There is also so much history attached to this venue, I highly recommend that you ask about the Americans and their pool hahaha.... can't wait to go back to BenJor!!
We stayed at Benjor just after Cyclone Cook. The accommodation (house upgrade) was great and the staff were very friendly. The owners are Aussies and they are also very helpful. The only accommodation issue was inconsistent water temperature in the shower. Benjor is located close to many attractions including the Zip Line, Wet N Wild, Mele Cascades and Mele Village. It is fairly easy to catch a bus (min-van) from the road or the hotel will organise one. The resort is around 10 - 15 minutes from Port Villa and we bought shopping and did day trips as a trip for every meal isn't worth it. Food at the restaurant was usually good but expensive for Vanuatu and could be inconsistent. We got to know many more locals than when we visited Fiji (Warwick) which was more an all inclusive resort holiday. The locals are very friendly and welcoming and our kids loved meeting other kids and visiting schools and homes in villages. A trip to the Beach Bar on Friday Night to see the Fire Dancing is highly recommended and Hideaway Island (except for the road) was also very good for a day snorkelling and is close. There weren't many guests at the time we visited and some areas (tennis, former bar near pool, volleyball and put put) needed work but the staff were hard at work mowing, gardening and cleaning. We find it very hard to locate good places to stay for our family of 5 without needing two rooms - but Benjor was a great base - and they were also very accommodating with changing dates. .
Tranquil setting about 15mins out of central Port Vila. Excellent staff and service. We arrived just in time for Cyclone Cook. Kelly (manager) and the other staff looked after us extemely well shifting us to a bungalow further back from the beach as a precaution, made sure we had food. Had some glorious days after cyclone. Snorkeling straight off beach at resort. Benjor is close to sights such as Hideaway island, Cascade waterfall, Secret garden. Benjor beautiful tranquil relaxed resort. Staff were very helpful in suggesting and organizing day tours and transport especially Fred and Peter. Owners Miranda and Greg very friendly and accommodating.
A nice quiet place to relax and get away from it all. I had a one room villa with a view of the well kept gardens and the ocean. Very peaceful listening to the ocean rolling in the evening. The pool was inviting for a swim to cool off and there was reef to snorkel over directly from the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole vibe of the resort is lay back and relaxed.
Have spend a week at Benjor Beach Club and was blown away by the beautiful coastal setting and the well maintained resort facilites. The service provided by the staff was exceptional and the meals were 1st class. Excellent family resort that simply is well run and provides a memorable experience with the panoramic water views. Wake up in the morning and go for an ocean coral experience off the beach just outside your room. Glorious experience. Happy Customer Joe B 😀😎
Our week at Benjor is coming to an end but the positive memories will last us a lifetime! We had never been to Vanuatu before so we didn't know what to expect. Benjor is out of the city centre and really does have the feel of a club. In fact the restaurant is built on the site of a WW2 US military officers club. Of course the officers would have picked the best spot on the island! One of the first things we did was walk down straight in front of the restaurant and went snorkelling. The fish and coral were incredible! Over the next few days we went fishing, visited a local village, did a heap more snorkelling and still had plenty of time to relax and unwind. We went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the waves right outside our door. The food at the restaurant was excellent - we didn't have a bad meal. The island chicken was so huge that we shared it! The curry was spot on. The wood fired pizzas were a hit. And the steak and fish were also well worth ordering. We were able to pick our own coconuts and over the week I became quite proficient at husking. At least I thought I had until one of the locals showed me how its really done! We also picked fantastic paw paws, bananas and grapefruit. Definitely organic and delicious! The managers are great and the staff give it a fantastic, friendly and local touch. Benjor Beach Club is definitely worth a visit. We'd recommend it to anyone!
Benjor is about a 15 minute bus ride from Port Vila. Buses are easy and pretty inexpensive. We liked that it was a bit out of town....loads of space, nice drive to town, near a couple of great attractions (tanna coffee and the summit were great). The staff were really helpful. We had to get the doctor on our last day because our baby was sick...it was organised for us by the owner with no drama and the doc was with us in the hour. The rooms are clean and spacious. Some of the facilities were a little bit worn down but it was exactly what id expect in a humid, tropical climate that operates on island time. There is loads to do at benjor...big checkers board, beach, pool, mini golf, walks, books, board games and dvds. Id definitely recommend it with little kids. We have a 21 month and a 9 month old and benjor was a really easy, fun, pretty relaxed place for us to take them. If you think beach shack getaway then benjor will be a very pleasant surprise!
We had two meals at the restaurant. The first time we thought the food and service was really good. We had a some nice fish and curries that were really good. We went back three days later and it was very disappointing. Service was average but they were a tad busy so that was ok. What was not ok was vegetables served cold, pizzas had very strange flavour, steak cooked terribly. Not a good night.
