Some shortcomings

The hotel itself is in a good condition. The room was very comfortable and clean. Service was generally friendly and efficient. A couple of niggles though. When booking the room, I chose the Standard room with minifridge. Obviously this was a higher rate. Based on stays at other Holiday Inns offering this same option I confidently expected a stocked minibar but was very disappointed to be told we would only be supplied with a mini fridge.. with no contents. Not even mineral water. Given that other hotels in the chain provide stocked minifridges when this option is chosen, it should be made clear at the time of booking that there will be no contents in the fridge. When I arrived in the room, there was an assembled cot which we had not requested. The reception was quick to remove it when i reported it, only to get a knock on the door within 15 minutes asking if we wanted the cot which they had with them. Some lack of communication going on there. Finally, the breakfast was rather disappointing. OK, the hot buffet was perfectly acceptable but there was no fruit to accompany the cereals, nor any yoghurt. Also there were no peppermint tea bags. Given that the hotel was absolutely packed, generally speaking the condition of the hotel and the service was of a satisfactory standard. We were particularly impressed by the staff assisting a blind guest at the breakfast. However the shortcomings I have highlighted were a little irritating.

Excellent choice for pre or post cruise out of Southampton. There were 4 of us. We had a room with 2 bedrooms, king size bed in one and 2 twins in the other. Hotel restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner. We used Uber to get around. 10 out of 10 recommend!
