Helpful reception staff who showed us where to visit on a map. Rooms were good sized with access to satellite TV. Bath/shower combination. Beds were relatively comfortable. The view from the room (lower floor) was actually quite unappealing. Check the charges on your bank statement because it was not what was quoted on my booking form.
This hotel offers excellent location, breakfast and staff. In addition it has guest laundry facilities wich are very much appreciated when trekking around New Zealand. Rooms were spacious, quiet and with excellent bathroom facilities. Recommended
We stayed two nights in this hotel and recommend it to other travellers. There is a valet parking service for your car for 15 NZD per night. Our car was parked in the basement of the hotel. Our room was clean, well-equipped and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And last but not least: one night, we had dinner in the hotel restaurant, and both our meals were really delicious.
Hotel was clean but nothing all that special. Staff were slow to meet needs and not super helpful. Parking is expensive and no parking provided for guests. It is fine but would probably look for other options as it is expensive for what you get.
Staying here for 3 nights and initially really impressed with the service and dining experience , however having had a long day out today and looking forward to dinner tonight ...it was a disaster . The kitchen could not cope with the influx of a coach load of visitors and it was at the expense of the individual diners. My fish was served raw.. despite my specific request to the waitress to ensure it was thoroughly cooked . VERY disappointed, my family had dinner and I was left awaiting a replacement which had not surfaced after 15 minutes . I then declined to wait. We had to ask for the manager to address this, I was offered room service soup ( or another choice from the menu but eating alone..?? No thank you ) our evening was ruined. I would only recommend this establishment if there are no coach loads of travellers . This is the only Hotel in both South and North Island in the last month that has let us down.. Shame
Staff were very friendly, room was large and clean with two comfortable beds. Dark curtains to make the room dark (very pleasing). We were delighted to stay here. Only a short walk to octagon. Plenty to choose for the breakfast.
Excellent centralized location just a walking distance to Octagon. My room was exceptionally clean and cozy. I had a wonderful view from my room of the city and the harbour. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff greeted us in a pleasant manner and always checked in with us. The food was devine and desserts were delectable. There was 2 laundry rooms available on 2 separate floors and a gym on another floor. I appreciated the cleaner making my bed each day and topping up bathroom supplies with clean fresh towels. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed at the Scenic Hotel on a recommendation from our travel agent. What a great hotel! We arrived early around 10am and easily were able to leave our luggage with the desk as we were too early for check in. We headed off to lunch -- this hotel is centrally located with many many shops and restaurants at your finger tips. One of my favorite things about the hotel was the lobby water infused with fruit - was very refreshing! Later when we came back to the hotel we checked in to a huge room. It had all the amenities one could ask for. They are eco-friendly and I think even won some awards. The bath products smell like heaven! And they give you a little bag to encourage you to take home the remaining products so they don't get wasted. We are travelers that don't like our room made up and had the do not disturb sign up for the day. When we came back from activities one evening we came back to a basket outside our door filled with towels, bath amenities and extra coffee! What? That was definitely what made me give them 5 stars in this review. I've never had a hotel be so thoughtful. Also they were very communicative when we had changes to our pick up times for tours. Last - the breakfast in the morning was perfect. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is a great hotel that accommodates you! And not just the typical fruit...they did a full bean dish that was super flavorful, potatoes, hummus and roasted tomatoes. Oh and the coffee is nice and strong. Yum. Enjoy! You will love it.
Rooms are very spacious so ideal for twin share. Beds are fantastic and a joy to sleep in. Staff are very helpful friendly. Only blimps are little space on bathroom vanity and limited sky sport channels. We stayed 2 nights on a golf tour and it was perfect for us.
We have stayed 3 nights here and I would definitely stay again. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in! You just sink in and never want to get up! Smack dab in the middle of everything and walking distance by a few minutes to any place you want to go. The prices are excellent and the staff very friendly. Definitely worth staying here.
