It's a nice clean hotel but, don't expect any good customer service. The bar staff treats you like a nuisance, the reception desk hides in the backroom, and they block the exit with busses. Very middle of the road hotel.but they charge premium prices. For the price there is better value elsewhere
I was here on a convention last week end. The hotel is situated about 4 kilometer or a 15 euro ride away from dusseldorf airport. Nice lobby, well decorated. Very comfortable bedrooms. Mine was on the 12th floor with a great view. Comfortable large bed, 2 armchairs, bathroom with walk-in shower and bath tub and good amenities. Very satisfying. The buffet dinner -cooked for ca 150 people- was very average. Food was overcooked but often cold. Really not what we were expecting. pity.
Great hotel if you've landed at the airport and need not go into the centre of Dusseldorf. Big wide lobby, clean, friendly staff. Gym is small but more than adequate with not just a few bits but a Smith machine and decent equipment though the treadmills are dated and in need of repair or replacement. Breakfast very nice. Good hotel.
Very nice place to have meetings. rooms are oke. Breakfast very good with a lot of choices. We had lunch in the restaurant which was good. In the evening we ate at the bar and the waiter was just great. You need a car to visit the city, because it is a minute drive by taxi.
Stayed here twice, both times very satisfied with the accommodations and the staff’s friendliness and professionalism. Food is good. A lot to choose from in the lunch buffet. Rooms are spacious, clean and beds are comfortable.
The Hotel is really nice loved the decoration. We got a smoking room. The room is really big nice and very clean. First Hotel in Germany where the parking is free. Breakfast is really good with a lot of food. The price of 3 nights inclusive breakfast was not expensive we only paid 222€. The wellness area and fitness is on the 15th Floor and is really nice you can chill in a nice area having a nice view.
Don’t be alarmed by the exterior appearance or location of this hotel. We arrived to stay a couple of nights for an exhibition at Messe and were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were phenomenal. Great steam showers and jacuzzi baths, huge walk in wardrobes and fantastically appointed bedroom / lounges with floor to ceiling glass and remote electric blinds, although the views are to be expected for an airport hotel! Our party of four, being cynics of airport hotel restaurants dined in on the first night of the stay and were flabbergasted by the attentiveness of the staff and quality of the food. I would highly recommend you consider this hotel for a working visit to DUS. Approx €23 for a Taxi into town.
I've been staying at Van der Valk Airport hotel quite a few times and what I appreciate is that you always get same great service every time. I don't see the place targeting being a luxury place but it goes - in many aspects - above the normal 4* ranking, starting with design, comfort, sleeping quality and ending with a few small extras like breakfast selection, gym and - from some perspective - location. Now, when it comes to location, many may say that's not great. It's really in the middle of nowhere, but pretty close to DUS airport. The advantage, though, it gives you a great view over the airport or towards Duesseldorf/Ruhrgebiet. If you plan - though - visiting the Altstadt (Old Town), you need to keep in mind taxi will cost you ~25 EUR one way. Recently, there have been some public transportation options put in service within walking distance, but I did not test that yet. Back to VdV, I've been (and still am) pleased by their fabulous breakfast (one of the best - if not the best - I've experienced !). It's the only place I've had oven cooked omlette and that tastes great ! Another valuable thing to consider by those driving over to the place: parking is free (for 24 hours), which makes a big advantage in Duesseldorf and specially around airport (those traveling there by car will know what I mean). I've made already some recommendations for dinner when reviewing Maritim Hotel (go to Altstadt, it's really worth - not that much for food, but for the overall atmosphere). Specially now, with the Karneval prepping-up, this is something unique - advice for non-German visitors to the area. Oh, one more thing - in case hotel management reads this... Organizing a free shuttle to DUS airport would definitely boost customer satisfaction. When you try picking-up a taxi at the airport and give them VdV as destination, you get anything but nice smiles... All in one, for the time being, in the 4* range, VdV stays on top of the list.
My husband and I have been loyal Van der Valk customers since moving to Europe 2 years ago so I’ve hesitated writing a negative review. However this will be our second stay in a sub par van der valk property. We have stayed at this location a few times as we fly back to the states from this airport. Upon arrival the first room they gave us reeked of body odor and some other unidentifiable smell so we asked for a new room. Our new room smelled better but stains on the floor, stains on the towels, a fingernail in the bathroom the shower barely worked. Things didn’t get better when we went to the sauna as two saunas were broken used towels were everywhere and a shower was broken. Top this off with some idiot using his laptop to watch a game in the relaxation area. When we got back to our room we phoned the front desk to tell them of the state of the sauna and all she said was “there’s a phone in the area you can use to call us” ??? Not sure what this would have accomplished. Not sure what’s going on with this line of hotels. Perhaps better employees or more attention to upkeep of the properties. The one good thing about our stay is that the food is always amazing at a van der valk. We will rethink staying at any of these properties in the future. The other property outside Antwerp was this bad if not worse with cobwebs in the room.
This is indeed a lovely hotel. I stay at Valk hotels all the time but this is very different. The facility is very nice however after getting to my room I noticed immediately that there was a key in the slot inside the room, the window was open and it smelled like smoke. I had to use the bathroom and decided to go down after, to let them know that someone had smoked in the room but it was not me. In the bathroom, suddenly the room door opened, it scared me but as my luggage was right in front of the door, I think I surprised whomever came in. When I came out of the room, I grabbed my stuff and went downstairs. I had called out as soon as I heard the door open but they left quickly. I suspect it was an employee using the room for a regular break. My room was changed and I went to new room, all was fine. I needed a 4am wake-up call for a flight. As I went to sleep I decided to call the front desk to confirm my wake up call. The phone was not attached to the wall... a decoration. I tried to find a cord and reconnect but cord in room did t fit phone. I got dressed, went to front desk, as they told me how odd this was... they said they would send someone up to fix it. No one showed up so again... I am back at the front desk. This time I was carrying the phone. I had to be up early, and was t going to stay up longer for them to get it together. I told them they had to send someone to my room to knock. Which I. Fairness they did do. Shuttle to airport... that was there, a taxi as they don’t have a shuttle. The taxi was not given correct info either for 2 days he told me. Get it together Valk!
