Novum Hotel Madison Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof4.0 out of 5.0

Good hotel close to the main train station (Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof), which has direct trains to the airport (S-Bahn S11). There is also a tram stop just outside the hotel. The room was pretty standard and clean. I was able to communicate with the staff in both German and English. Lots of places near by to find food/drinks.
I stayed in this hotel for a week and while there were certainly no frills and it could do with a revamp of some of the facilities it was clean and it was safe and close by to a lot of things in the city so I really can't ask for much more considering that booking the hotel a few months in advance and the price was only $42 a night. Room came with a fan and a safe. Old wooden furniture was kind of cool. The front desk staff, especially Stephen were all very friendly and helpful with any questions I had. It can get really noisy if you have a street view room so just to keep that in mind.
Hotel is adequate for a 3 star hotel. Some good things are; Location Friendly reception Nice reception area Storage for luggage Good wifi Free safe hire Somethings which could be improved Interior rooms - dated and smell smokey (tobacco) Also, we were facing the road at the back of hotel and it was constantly noisy- nice big windows, but our window (room 418) was broken and can not be opened. No TV channels in English, however lots of channels. Breakfast is continental and expensive. Shower temperature is not consistent and changes from scalding to freezing in moments. Lots of good things, but also lots of improvements needed. Overall, a tired but satisfactory 3 star hotel. Thank you.
First of all for couple of interrailers like us the location was excellent: just a short walk from the station and still within walking distance from the city centre. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable but the decor could use some updating. Also an airconditioner would come in handy as the rooms were quite hot when it was plus 20 degrees. The staff were very helpful and kind.
Stayed a weekend with party of 4 and booked a Family Room; these are advertised as either 5-person or 4-person, and as price was almost same we picked the 5-person one. As Murphy's Law got it when arriving they gave us the key for a smaller one (1 level, 1 double and 2 single beds); we were too tired to claim immediately and did so next morning. They corrected their mistake well and as compensation even gave 4 free b'fasts for the Saturday, good service! And indeed the 5-person one is considerably more spacious, with a double bed at elevated level and 3 single beds at entrance level. Back to the hotel itself. For a 4-star it scores badly: e.g. limited TV, intermittent WiFi, b'fast (a whopping 15 euro per person per day) only a few hot dishes, no AC. But maintenance is okay despite the dated rooms, bathroom fine for the weekend, excellent location close to station though in a slightly seedy area. Overall, still recommended if you don't pay too much.
Looking for a mid range stay in the center of the city, I get a good offer for this location. Central, couple of hundred meters from the main Railway station. Unfortunately I didn't listen the advise of the concierge and get a parking fine: opposite to the back of the hotel there is a 24 hour parking for 6€/day. Better take it. The hotel: lot of rooms, nice personal, not my best feeling but anyway good. Room surprisingly in german country style but WC zone totally renovated in modern style. I get 2 comfortable nights and was sorry that I had to prolongate the stay and they were booked out. And I had to go to the Hotel Metropol. (see my review there).
Staff very helpful and friendly, clean and comfortable rooms, great location close to train station and walking distance to the main shopping district and historic center, Altsadt....although could use better cable TV contract to offer multi lingual programming....
Stayed for two nights during an exhibition in Düsseldorf. The hotel has a good location nearby the trainstation. Königsallee and Altstadt are within walking distance. The drive from the aitport takes 15 minutes when the traffic is low. The fromt desk staff was service minded and polite. Breakfast was pretty good. My room was facing the street and the traffic noice was noticable but I always sleep well so that did not represent any problem for me. The room and especially the bathroom could use a refurbishment. Check out was a little bit slow.
We've been in the Novum Hotel Madison in Feb '17. It was a good hotel and the room was ok. Badly to say is just the noise in the night in a room next to ours and that the breakfast wasn't included. I would recommend it anyway.
The staff was nice, the room was clean and the bed fairly comfortable. Would probably not stay there again because of a very bad WIFI signal and slow speed. Even the TV signal was bad as the transmission froze for a few seconds once in a while. Perhaps this is normal for Germany as even the WIFI in the was limited to 30 minutes.
