It was one of the few hotels that would sleep a family five. They left three small packages of gummy bears for our three children and extra towels. It also was right in the city, but parking was difficult as well as just going into the hotel when you first arrive. The most negative feature was no air conditioning or even a fan to help circulate the warm air. We had to open the windows for some air and listen to city noise all night long while we tried to sleep.
The hotel is well located, 15 min walking to the center of the city. Hotel is clean and the room is really big (family room).
the staff was okay. we were greeted fine. when asking about the wifi they said it was down and would not have a technician available until the next day. for some reason i did not believe this and had the feeling the internet did not exist. the room although clean and suitable for the cost was difficult to maneuver around with 2 suitcases, backpacks etc. the neighborhood although not totally sketchy was a bit on the not so nice side. there were multiple "marital aid shops", "strip clubs" and drunks meandering around. when getting into the elevator to return to our room after a brief evening downtown my wife entered as the doors were closing. she put her hand up to trigger the sensors that should have opened the doors back but instead it smashed quickly and strongly without stopping. it cut and bent her thumb. she was in extreme pain. we immediately walked back to the desk and asked for some ice. the response from the desk clerk was less than sympathetic. he checked the bars ice machine for ice. it was out. he turned it on and shrugged saying it would be at least a half an hour before the machine produced ice. he offered no other solutions or suggestions.... just another shrug. we do not feel slighted for any of this as we did get a very good price for the room for the evening. the low price DID NOT INCLUDE BREAKFAST. this was fine with us as we liked having the low room cost. this was a total reinforcement of "you get what you pay for"... or really... you don't get what you don't pay for.
The hotel was easy to find -- about half a block from the train station and was well-lit with 24-hour front desk. The room was clean, and while small, had a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water in a modern bathroom. The wifi was free but difficult to connect to (had to re-login and authenticate every time phone/laptop weren't active, required registration) and the signal in my room wasn't good, though adequate for checking maps and so forth. The breakfast was really good -- had European-style bread/meat/cheese along with American-style eggs, toast, cereal, plus fruit/yogurt/juice/coffee/tea. It is reasonable to walk from here to the old town part of Duesseldorf -- it took me about 15 minutes at a comfortable pace.
I had to spent a night in Dusseldorf because of long connection and was looking for cheap accommodation in downtown and close to train station. Find this hotel with breakfast for $46 including tax and coupon. To my surprise It was way far above my expectations: very clean and neat room, nice front desk people, opulent breakfast with wide selection of cut meats and cheeses. Couple minutes walking to train station, surrounding area is perfectly safe at night (for me), perfect location to explore on foot the old city. Free wifi and computer use in the lobby.
Walking distance from central railroad station, also, walking distance from shops and entertainment.
I was surprised that breakfast was not included. It was nowhere mentioned that the breakfast is to be paid for 15 EURO/ day. The past 10 days where we stayed in hotels in Munich, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg none of the hotels charged us for the breakfast.
It was much more than expected. Breakfast was great quality. The thing I didnt like was the bath was clogged.
It was a great stay with small expense. Bath was clogged and that was the only thing I want to complain about. Breakfast was better than I expected.
