Don't expect to much of this hotel. The arrival was nice, offering a welcome drink and we could go earlier to our room (around 11:00). The rooms are not clean, found enough cookies, papers etc on the floors. Bathroom was old and full of chalk. Beds were clean and very comfortable. It was really hot in the room, even with the windows open we sweat a lot. Breakfast is untill 11:00. We arrived at 10:15 and there was no bread and they would not make any new ones! In general the hotel is decent but pay not more than 30,- a person!!

We arrived in sweltering heat. The receptionist was not at all welcoming bordering on rude. We tried to find out about parking. She told us it was free but it wasn't. It's free at weekends. After some research on foot we found parking at Stadttor for 13 euros a day. I think Kastens should be more helpful re parking and be more honest on their website. Maybe you'd choose a different hotel if parking was included in the price or easier. Apart from her other staff were nice. The room has no A/C and the fan is tiny. We slept with all our windows open. It is a quiet street and we slept really well. I'd requested a quiet room so we got the 5th floor at the back of the hotel. There are good places to eat close by. Decor is quirky ! Our room was on the dull side but clean. We really like Loretto St close by. It is an easy walk to Hafen & Altstadt. The shower was grea, they provide free toiletries and towels are changed daily. The breakfast very good and there is free tea and coffee in the lobby. All in all a good stay.

The hotel is very dated & doesn't look very appealing on entering & then the girl on the desk was very uninterested & very unhelpful ! As we arrived quite late we had a quick look at the breakfast area to be shouted at by one of the other staff to leave ! The lift is painfully slow & the room was quite poor ! The small Fridge barely worked ~The small Fan didn't work & the curtains were hanging off among other things ~ We asked again to an uninterested staff member for them to be fixed but nothing was done in the 6 days we were there ! Although we didn't really ask much from the staff everything we did ask was met with a roll of the eyes & very stern replies ! We did however have a nice time in Dusseldorf but we wouldn't ever set foot in this dive again ! Reminiscent of Fawlty Towers customer service but without the laughs

I have seen better places: rooms were ok, but the only lift was annoyingly slow, the reception was just adequate and breakfast was ok but nothing special. I think as a 4-star hotel it is overrated, more like a 3-star in my view

Working staff are not smile. Rooms Fine. Breakfast is good. 4 star hotel it could be better. No parkıng in this is so so. Everything is could be better . Maybe you can try this hotel.........

Myself and seven friends stayed here and all were very happy with the quality of the hotel. For being quite central in Dusseldorf,it is very quiet, clean and the breakfast excellent. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. It is on the periphery of the Altstadt and about a 15 minute walk to the main attractions.

Nice comfortable stay Great location - 10 mins walk to alsdat Would recommend for ease of access and decent value stay Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was quite good Had everything we needed

This hotel was superbly located with just a 10 minute walk if that to Rhein Promenade and The Rheinturm, about 15-20 minutes to Königsalle. Room was fantastic, bed very comfortable, a bit of a leaky tap in the bathroom sink but when I turned the lever a certain way it stopped, was concerned about wasted water tbh rather than the water noise. Unlimited tea and coffee in the reception area, staff were amazing and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and so much to choose from even hot food such as scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. My only issue was the noise as I am a very lighter sleeper and every night I thought someone was trying to get in my room but I think it is because the rooms were in close proximity it may have sounded like that. Also the noise from the courtyard of people shouting at night was horrendous. I did get to sleep but always after about 12:30/1 am. I am not one for complaining so I never told the staff but next time I would enquire whether they have a quieter room before I book, maybe on a top floor too as heard several dropping noises above. Apart from this I do give them 4 stars.

We stayed 2 nights at Kastens Hotel in Dusseldorf. As other have commented before it is more of a very good 3* hotel than a 4* hotel, but the stay was comfortable with a good breakfast. Overall cleanliness was good but could be improved as we did find a bundle of hairs in the shower drain. The hotel does not offer parking but a parking lot under the Rhine bridge (Apollo Parking) is within a short walk. Parking fees 2 EURO/hr with a 24hr max of 20 EUROs. We took the car into the city but there are public transport options. Walking would take approx. 20 minutes.

Kastens is 4* hotel on, but to be honest it's really a good 3* a German hotel which does its best to cater for most European nationalities. The rooms are nice and spacious and the beds (double bed) are comfortable, however in Germany it is surprisingly rare to actually get a double bed, double normally means two beds as one, I was staying on my own so more that enough for me. In addition the rooms are always nice an clean & they are serviced every day. The Hotel is situated a little away from the main life of Düsseldorf (Alstadt), however like most of Düsseldorf the transport links are amazing and you are never more than a stones throw from a tram, bus or U-Bahn. The 708 bus/tram stops right outside the hotel and goes to Graf-Adolfplatz (underground train station) from there you are only 2 stops away from Alstadt or if you prefer the 708 will take you straight to the Haubenhof (central train station) from there you can go anywhere. I stay in Germany every week and tend to Hotel hop, not by choice but more so to do with availability. Kastens is a nice Hotel and I give it a 6 out of 10.
