Beautiful hotel situated in former palace. Location downtown Dresden, parking garage in basement. Friendly personnel and a very effective concierge named Markus. Even our dog got the Royal Treatment ;-) We’ll be back!
This hotel is part of the rebuilding of WW2 fire damaged Dresden city centre. Its the former palace of the mistress of one of the rulers of Saxony. We found the public areas to be a bit cold and austere, but it has a lovely French bistro attached (good food) and also a gourmet restaurant and German tavern (which we did not try) and also a Wild West (US) themed bar that was good. The first room were given was traditionally themed but street lights outside kept us awake. The second room was more modern and very pleasant. Beds are quite firm but bathrooms have a separate shower The location of the hotel to the rest of the sights of Dresden was excellent. All the museums and palaces (mostly rebuilt as they were before the war) are all within a short walk
Very good quality hotel with large comfortable rooms, comprehensive and attentive service. Nice bar and restaurant - great facilities overall. It's in a great central location, ideal for exploring the fascinating city of Dresden. Highly recommended.
This hotel is the sister hotel to the Adlon in Berlin, but there was no comparison between the two. This hotel is large and grand and very-well located, but a bit old-fashioned and doesn't offer thee same white-glove experience that the Adlon does. We did get the view of the old-town that we wanted and it was lovely. We were also upgraded to junior suite "for just 20 euros more". The suite was very large and the bed sat in a round corner of one of the building's turrets. The bathroom was large and the the room was quiet once the windows were closed. The free WIFI was a joke and the up-charge for better service seemed like a rip-off, so I sat in the lobby to get a better connection. Dresden attracts an older tourist crowd and I had to listen to loud drunken retirees coming and going while I was down there. The check-out was quick and efficient, but not as sentimental as it should have been at those prices. And the prices were very high compared to what we got at other luxury hotels on our trip.
We stayed two nights in a European-sized room that was large enough for two and our luggage. It was excellently appointed and had an excellent bed. The room faced the street and there was some street noise through the double-pained windows. Service was excellent and the location was near the tourist sites.
I have come back to this beautiful hotel after almost 4 years. I have booked romantic room setup as I wanted to surprise my beloved lady. All worked out just amazingly. We have received great upgrade to suit on 3rd floor with balcony overlooking the Residenzschloss so our stay really was a extraordinary. The service was up and beyond Kempinski standards. The only inconvenience we experienced was service at the Intermezzo restaurant. We went there with our little son for early dinner. Somehow after our waiter was changed we have not felt welcomed so we ended up quickly finishing our wine and going up to the room. I understand that they might have been stressed because of a little stubborn boy, but he was behaving well and we came very early into empty place....
Excellent hotel, almost a palace, the rooms are giant and great. Comfortable bed, it's a small apartment. You will love it, special for honey moons and romantic times. The staff are very kind and try to help all the time.
This hotel is in one word awesome. We booked there because they offer babysitting services and we wanted to be centrally located. The hotel met our expectations and was great. This is such a magnificent hotel and they did a good job rebuilding it after WW2. They offered babysitting service, and used Kinder Service Jocus. Our son really took to Manuela right away and was willing to stay with her while we went out for adult dinner and conversation. Highly recommend this place for both families and couples.
The restaurant, Palais Bistro is highly recommended. Good location and view, also the price. It is said French cuisine, and it is little bit mix of French and German, quite casual, it is nice to sit out-door.
I arrived to the hotel in the afternoon. The room I received was a nice double room with king size bed, on the first floor with windows overlooking a museum, which I must say was influencing a bit my privacy. When leaving to the dinner I realised there is a problem with not working deposit box, which I reported to the reception. When I came back, around 9 pm, the room was prepared for the night ( curtains closed ) but the deposit box was not repaired. I wanted to watch the news but the remote control was working very purely and the quality of the image was also low. I decide to take a bath and after a while I realised that it is not possible to stop the running water ( there was a problem with a cock that was turning but not stopping the water ). The problem was reported to the reception which sent 2 different people that were not able to solve the issue. After that I was informed that the problem requires technician, but he is of the duty. I was offered to change the room but I was surprised being offered a single room with a queen size bed instead of an upgrade that I would usually expect in such a situation in 5* hotel. Not something I would expect from Kempinski chain.
