We have stayed here during spring break for several years. This resort is very family friendly and we enjoy it year after year. This year was amazing and the newly renovated rooms are perfect. It is so nice to stay at a place that is not 30 stories with 1,000 of people.
Furnishing are comfortable and nicely decorated. We were in a 2 bedroom 1 bath that was laid out a little strange. The bathroom is right inside the outside door, so you must go through the living area to use the toilet or shower. In one of the bedrooms there is a sink and vanity. The common areas are still the midst of the remodel, so bar was not open at this time. The pool is a larger size with a hot tub adjacent. Access to the beach is down a short flight of stairs. The resort is located near a lifeguard station and beach access for driving. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. They had several activities planned over the weekend including a visit from the Easter bunny.
Had my doubts about it after I booked it since it was under renovations and a time share property. I was quickly blown away by the property when I got there. Right on the beach. The pool and hot tub were open and really nice. The staff were so friendly!! We were only asked once if we wanted to do the time share presentation and were not pressured into anything. We chose not to do it and they were ok with that. Rooms was supper clean and updated. Kids loved that on different days they have free ice cream or root beer floats. They have a couple of nice grills to cook on outside. Very close to restaurants and shops. And again the staff was really nice and helpful!! Thank you for a great vacation!
We were also here in 2014 and are very happy with the recent villa renovations! The pool area and outdoor games, such as checkers, were a highlight. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our only issue was the Bluegreen vacation representative who continued to ask me if we would attend an update meeting. No means no, right? I have owned Bluegreen for 12 years and I've sat through my fair share of meetings. Other than that, we had a wonderful week!
Family stayed in room 606 from 3/6-3/9. Nice oceanfront 2 bedroom unit. From North Central Florida, we visit the beach often, and end up in this area several times a year. If you have your pick, our favorite is the Bluegreen Daytona Seabreeze though it's availability can be a bit trickier.. The pool was warm for march, which my 3 year old daughter loved; beach was nice too. Spring break traffic doesn't really inch up to this area, so that's nice for families too. We've stayed here before (choice rewards members), and will actually be back for 2 nights next week, hosting some (Northern) family members. It was under construction, but wasn't a big deal. The time share people are a bit more aggressive here than at Seabreeze, and the front desk makes you go through them to get your parking pass. Word of advice, if you tell them you have been to a presentation in the past year, they will drop the subject, as evidently there is some rule about doing more than 1 a year... My only complaint this time around is that they have installed new toaster oven microwaves, which isn't in itself a big deal, but ours didn't work. That is, the toaster oven part. So we pretty much wasted all the food we bought that couldn't be microwaved. Maybe not a big deal to some, but when traveling with a family, and staying in a condo, we had really expected to be able to bake some stuff (pizzas, chicken, etc). We had a maintenance man come up to check it out; he said there were at least 6 of them that weren't working and to "just try to use the microwave". That's cool, he was nice about it, I just hope we don't get one of those 6 rooms with inoperable ovens next week! Anyway, give it a shot; we keep coming back. Long story short, if the Seabreeze is open, it will always be our first choice, but this is an adequate second.
I was a little worried about what my experience would be as I had read some reviews about this resort that were not so great. I ended up having a great vacation at Casa Del Mar. The room I stayed in was one of the newly renovated rooms and it was lovely. The room was clean and had a beautiful view. The staff was very nice and very helpful. All in all, I had a wonderful time at the resort and I wish I could have stayed longer.
We have been Bluegreen members for more than 15 years. Normally we are more than satisfied with the accommodations they provide at their multiple resorts. This one was a disappointment for sure. Let me first say what we liked about the resort. The two bedroom unit we had was beautifully decorated and the view of the ocean was great. You could smell the new renovations and I really liked that. Staff was nice and accommodating and were knowledgeable of the area. The heated pool and outdoor areas were really nice as well. What I didn't like, we were not told that there were major renovations going on. Both elevators were dirty due to numerous construction crews going up and down with materials. There were construction workers everywhere all day. The unit we had was an odd layout. You walk in to a bathroom immediately inside the entryway. Next there's a kitchen/living combo. Again, it's beautifully decorated, but it's dark and it's hot. There are two bedrooms directly past this area, both with beautiful ocean views and each has its own balcony. I loved that. Each bedroom has an air conditioner which as the a/c ran cooled very quickly. However, the living room/kitchen area and the bathroom were so hot you couldn't stand to be in there. The a/c was effectively contained to the two bedrooms even though they made an attempt to put a fan in the wall of one of them that was suppose to suck the air into the rest of the unit. This was a huge flop. Also the only natural light was limited to the bedrooms, making the rest of the unit extremely dark even during the day. But it was the heat that caused us to cut our vacation short by 3 days. This layout just doesn't work for me. I was surprised, never saw anything quite like it. Oh, and the sofa and single chair in the living area was like sitting on the Flintstone's rock sofa. Very, very uncomfortable. But the bed was comfortable. And, if this unit had six people that it claims to accommodate, that one single bathroom would not cut it. We won't be coming back here again.
Staff was super friendly and accommodating when we checked in. I was a little worried after reading all the reviews about them being under construction. The lady I spoke to over the phone said they are on phase 2 of the construction, which I believe is now the interior finishes. Hopefully if you book a room you'll get an updated one like we did. When we arrived the elevators were definitely dusty from construction and needed to be wiped down so that made me nervous. However, when we got to our room I was pleasantly surprised. We are staying on the 7th floor and our 1 bedroom with a King size bed is gorgeous! Recently updated everything is clean and new. View is awesome on the spacious balcony overlooking the beach and pool. The bathroom is modern and clean. Glass door shower and tile. A lighted makeup Mirror in the bathroom as well. Kitchen has all the basics you need. Love love love!
They are renovating, which they told us, but I think if we knew to what extent, we would have made other plans. There is only one elevator that is working, which is problematic. The restaurant/bar which is advertised was closed. The renovations are 7 days a week and start early in the morning with jack hammers directly above us. We wanted an Ocean view, but that results in hearing the pool music day and night and the gate slamming to the pool from sun up to sun down. We didn't get a welcome letter when we came in so we did not know where or how things like garbage was handled. When you called the front desk to ask it took forever for them to answer and then they sounded angry at you for asking. For the price they need to get it together. However, the rooms are beautiful. The pool and lounge chairs need updating . No activities because it is off season
We've been Bluegreen owners for 15 years and this was not up to their standards. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Also, recycling is encouraged here! On the negative side, we booked a small studio with street view, but we expected so much more. The smell of the unit was always damp and musty no matter what temp the AC was on. There was no hot water in the morning for showers. We had a full size dishwasher which we couldn't use because there was only 2 of each dish, cup and utensil. Instead we had to hand wash after every meal to have items for the next one. And Bluegreen really needs to find a way to add at least one overstuffed chair to that room. We used patio chairs to watch tv, which is not very relaxing. The resort itself was also disappointing. Between the hurricane damage and the remodeling there was very little in the way of amenities. No pool, no hot tub, no bar, no game room, no gift shop, no shuffleboard or giant chess, no use of pool deck, no immediate access to the beach. There was a fitness room that had an elliptical, treadmill and stationary bike, but the weight machine did not work well. There could have been a barbecue or some activities such as a bingo night offered. We will not be returning to this location and would definitely not have become Bluegreen owners if this was the first experience we had. Bluegreen needs to find a way to keep the amenities during remodeling or return the points we wasted staying here.
