New World Hotel Dalian4.5 out of 5.0

Make no mistake, this is a first class hotel in every regard. I was not familiar with the brand name "New World" but I am now, and will look for this name as I continue my travels in Asia. Here are some of my thoughts. First, I wouldn't be writing this if I felt the hotel was average in any way. It is not, it is a premium property in prime condition and with truly nice amenities, and what felt like a hand-picked staff of warm, professional people who love their hotel. I sense that a lot of this flows from Mike, the manager of the hotel, who is a thoughtful and absolutely wise and professional person. I'll talk a bit more about this in a minute,. The rooms are very high quality, the beds are better than anything I've found in the USA. There are electrically controlled window blinds and the bathrooms are large and luxurious. For a moment there I felt like James Bond and thought I might want to call down to have a bottle of champagne delivered to my room. And, not that things feel pretentious or overcooked. I don't like these kinds of places., The New World is just the right balance of luxury and leave-me-alone, all the while the staff is ready at once to help. I guess what I'm saying is that whatever your expectations are of a hotel, you will be comfortable here. And again I think of Mike, who I believe sets the tone and guides his staff to achieve this balance. Which is not to say that the inherently generosity and rigor of the Chinese is not a factor, it is, but I think Mike helps channel this is a nice way. I mean really, you end up thanking everyone when you leave. I made extensive use of the large, luxurious pool, and the two smaller warm/hot hot bath pools at the far end of the main pool. The main pool has a large shallow area suitable (and safe for) children, but is large enough to contain a deeper area for swimming / laps. The hot baths are great. And by the way, the shower / locker rooms are modern, fully equipped and immaculate. There are other layers of amenities that I did not partake in, but here's one that really impressed me: The gym. Here's why: It's not a large gym, it's medium size, but equipped with the best equipment I've ever found in a hotel gym, bar none. If you're looking for some cardio exercise, you're completely covered. But if you're involved in strength training, you're also completely covered, because there's an absolutely smart collection of twelve of the latest Life Fitness and Cybex machines, in addition to free weights, bars, benches, etc. The specific collection of machines - a perfect cross-fire of exercises that span the muscle groups - indicated to me that someone with a lot of knowledge of strength training played a part in the design of the gym. This is an example of why the New World is a top-tier hotel. On my way to the hotel, I broke the screen on my laptop. I went out to purchase a new screen, but ran into Mike ( I think he just knows when to show up), who asked his IT manager to loan me a set of screwdrivers so that after obtaining a new screen, I could install it in my room. Try to stay here, if you can. It's a great hotel.
I was in hotel for several times, but finally I changed my mind and I went to other hotel this time. The main reason was a bad smell all over the floor. I think it was related to sewage. The second reason was bad internet speed, I was there for business but I could not open my email! The worst thing is that prostitutes offer you every time you come in to hotel!! Break fast was not good as I expected from 5 star hotel. To sum up, it is not a special hotel! Better option is available at the same price.
I was satisfied with your counter members' service mind. Most of members that I met in hotel was really kind and nice. but the cleanliness of room disappointed me. (especially duvet cover and bathtub)
I was asked to pay for upgrade when I checked in late afternoon that day. The reason is that there was no clean room and I have to pay more to get a clean room. Waht a stupid reason it is! Of course, I refused to pay, but I was asked to check in later that evening....
I had a very good & enjoyable stay in the New World Dalian Hotel. The staff were courteous and efficient, the hotel was nice and centrally located. Morning breakfast was sumptuous! Overall cost performance was excellent!
A great hotel, nice rooms excellent staff and good downtown location. The beds and linen used here is my favourite of all hotels, super comfortable and I always have the best nights sleep here than any hotel while traveling on business!
Located in CBD with good view. But not every room is the same. 1st room 1721 is bad as I entountered two fluorescent lamp falled down when I open the wardrobe. And this room doesn't have washlet and smells strangely guessing no service a while. 2nd room changed is 1412 unfortunately the bed and TV is not in straightline because it locates in the building curve. 3rd room 1514 is OK at least it is a normal standard room although central Channel 6 signal intrrupted intermittently. The Shower area in the room is not closed but empty towards the bathtub. Breakfast is OK even the space is not so big. Service is fine also whenever the front boy provides umberalla, taxis ect. overall if the price matches with the room facility it is above average level.
The employees are very kind. The room arrangement was also very good. All employees felt better because they smiled and serviced. And it was very impressive to lend umbrellas on rainy days. The fitness center was very satisfied and managed to be well managed.
Very convenient location, nice hotel full facilities. Even not new but good maintenance. Room is clean and tidy, all staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is selected and swimming pool is really beautiful, big gym with full facilities. I recommend this hotel for both of business and leisure.
Stayed in this hotel mainly for business trip few times alrrady. Rooms are very clean and of good standard. Some corners are a bit shabby but still acceptable. Service is good. Staffs are very helpful but somehow a bit rude at times especially on the reception desk where smiles are lacking. Guest service desk near the main entrance has the best service level each time i stayed. Breakfast is simple, not too crowded with choices (fruit and yogurt choices are of very limited choices). One major negative drawback is that their wifi is terrible and weak. My colleague has got her laptop hacked while attempting to connect only, not even connected yet!! Beware of their free wifi!! Location is perfect as situated on the main avenue. There is a Carrefour supermarket on the parallel street. Plenty of restaurants of all prices and cuisines are around the hotel. Nearby subway stations are a bit far but still acceptable. It is a highly recommended hotel for business or family holiday but beware if their free wifi!!
