We stayed one night and although accommodation is basic, bit old but it's adequate. The air-conditioning worked well, good shower and a decent bed. The wifi wasn't working during our stay. There is a cafe on site so you can get a drink or a meal. They have various animals and it was a pleasure having a morning coffee while watching the kangaroos.
Please don't go there to support bad people who don't know how to treat human... Poor staff (they are soooooo exhausted, working 6 day a week 13 hours a day with even not a proper salary) ... Owners not nice and rude.
In the middle of nowhere, a great sanctuary with fantastic food. Beautiful site ,good price for a nights stay. Didn't expect all the birds, and variety of choices for meals. Also local tea is offered.
We stopped off for an impromptu visit for a late lunch. We stumbled upon Lync-Haven almost by accident and I'm so glad we did! The menu all looked delicious but my husband and I both ordered the steak sandwich burger with the super crispy chips. It's was utterly delicious! Lovely fresh ingredients and a very generous portion. We really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful animals that these amazing people have rescued too. They have lots of Wallabies, Lorikeet's, a Python, and many other creatures. Many are free to roam around the beautiful surroundings. They are doing sterling work offering a safe environment for these animals in need. Would highly recommend a stop off here!
My daughter and I stayed there for two nights while we visited the rain forest. The cabin we were in was at the Wallaby enclosure. It was basic but clean and had everything we needed. We ate at the restaurant and the food was really good. The only remark I would make is that staff made a big point of telling us that the last order has to be in before 7 p.m. On our second night we phoned and said we would be 15 to 30 minutes later and they were not flexible at all. So we bought our own dinner in a supermarket and arrived at 7.20 to see a fully operational kitchen that kept going way after 7.30! That was very dissapointing. Otherwise staff was friendly and helpful. We did not get a bad feeling from the animals in the enclosures, but they do remain enclosures and put animals on display. The parrots are outside of their cages during the day and seem happy to interact with visitors on their own terms, which shows they are quite content. We would definitely visit again!
Can’t comment on the overall retreat, but we did eat here twice when we stayed in Cow Bay for a few nights. Food was yummy and the menu was extensive with lots of choice. Children’s playground covered with a shade cloth and the array of animals helped entertain the two children so we could relax with a cold beer.
Stayed on the camp site for 3 nights in January whilst travelling in a camper around the Queensland Coast. Got a powered site very close to the facilities so that was really convenient for the wet season. Its the middle of the rainforest so expect the local wildlife! Really loved it here, saw a few Cassowary’s in the grounds and Janette the owner was very knowledgable about the local wildlife and showed us around the rescue centre introducing us to all the animals and their history. I’d definitely recommend this place but my only advice is try and avoid wet season which begins in January as it can impact on your outdoor options.
Stayed here 2 nights. Booked for 3 people only enough towels for 2. Air conditioning even when left running 24/7 couldn't cool the room down. Too pricey for what you get. You have to pay extra if you want your room made up! Didn't try the food here. Nice that it backed up onto a wallaby/kangaroo sanctuary. TV worked well. Wouldn't stay here again.
An amazing place to stay in the Daintree! We camped in our tent for 4 nights at Lync Haven and had a great time. Really good camp ground facilities, great communal camp kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms. All the facilities were spotless. The team there are lovely people with amazing knowledge and insight into the rainforest and all the animals. Their animal sanctuary is definitely worth seeing, 10am Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The owner is very passionate about the welfare of the animals and properly returning them to the wild where possible. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we cooked for ourselves in the camp kitchen, but we had a few wines there on our last night. It's a beautiful spot to sit and relax and the service was great. Will definitely be recommending to family who are travelling to the Daintree later this year.
We stayed for a week over christmas. The rooms were a good size, shower pressure was great and the air con was certainly a treat to come home to after a day of hiking. The rooms provided basic amenities such as bar fridge and kettle. The grounds had a coin operated bbq which was great for breakfast before we set out hiking. The grounds have camping and caravan spots as well as 3 lovely walki g trails. The owners were very welcoming and continued to go out of their way to provide assistance and guidance. The menu at the cafe was well thought out and provided good vegetarian options. It was an absolute pleasurable stay and we will certainly be bringing the family with us next time. There is a ton of beautiful wildlife at the grounds. While it is south of the major tourist area and backpacker lodges it sets for a good base to explore the surrounding areas. Its quiet, secluded and welcoming. Thanks for making a christmas special.
