Hotel Campanile Dijon Centre - Gare3.0 out of 5.0

Booked at short notice due to change of plans without reading reviews. The hotel is conveniently located near the main train station on the outskirts of the city centre. Trams, restaurants, bars, shops and most major tourist attractions are easily accessible. I found that the internet was so slow and unreliable that it essentially never worked. Receptionist told me that it normally worked but she couldn't do anything to fix it. After reading some reviews, it seems like such a common complaint that I suspect it never works. The heating in my room didn't work. I was offered a replacement room but the heating also didn't work there. The receptionist said that she thought the manager had probably turned it off to the whole floor (possibly the building) and she didn't know how to turn it back on. All she was able to say was 'sorry'. She also had difficulty helping me out because she couldn't leave the reception desk unattended. It appeared as though there were no other staff around. I thought that the response was totally unacceptable. As it happens, it didn't end up being too cold but with the weather only a couple of days earlier it would have been freezing. I requested a 'quiet' room using the option on booking.com. It's difficult to see what this actually achieved. The room was connected to another room via a locked door. The occupants of this room and a couple of others on the same floor seemed to spend their entire time in the hotel shouting at one another. Overall, the only positive that this hotel has is its location. There are a number of similarly priced hotels in the same place. I'd suggest giving one of the other places a go first.
It is in front of the Main station, tram stop is next the entrance. Rooms are small but clean. You can boile a water for tea or coffee in the room. Just coffee sachets are a little bit old. Especially in the evenings wifi is very unstabile. Don't try special dinner offer in hotel restsurant. Portions for 10,90€ are small and nothing special. My Wok with china food or some kebab restaurants are close to the hotel.
I stayed on the top floor. Room was ok. Internet bad. the problem was that the beds were pushed together to make on bed, but as you sleep (tossing and turning) one bed will push away, leaving you with a small twin bed. For a regular dude, this is a bit cramped. The breakfast was ok. The hotel is very closed to the train station (a plus) and close to the center. Worth looking into it.
As suitcase-pullers, we are always looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel very close to the main railway station, and Dijon Campanile Centre - Gare fitted the bill nicely. Nothing flash but pleasant rooms with windows that could be opened for fresh air. Despite being close to the station it was surprisingly quiet. The furnishings were a bit tired, perhaps, especially the light fittings, but everything worked and the bathroom was fine. Reception staff were helpful, and the attached restaurant served decent meals at reasonable prices. Breakfast was included, and was more than sufficient. Being close to the station meant that we had to walk to the town centre to find the Tourist Information Office, but it was not a long walk and there is a lovely park along the way if you need to sit and relax. Worth noting that the Musée des Beaux Arts is currently being renovated, and only a part of its excellent collection is currently available. Due to re-open in 2019, I think. The Owl's Trail is a self-guided tour of the city's highlights, information and guide book (a couple of Euros) available from the Tourist Office. Well worth doing.
A group of us stayed in this hotel for three nights in three rooms. The rooms in this hotel are showing their age somewhat but it is essentially clean and the beds comfortable. The reception area has been renovated and there is a nice restaurant where a good buffet breakfast is served. It is located close to the train station so very convenient for getting into and out of Dijon and is only a short walk from the main downtown area of the old town. There is quite a bit of noise from the street when the windows are open but once they are closed they cut down on the noise quite well. The air conditioning in some rooms is iffy. The man who checked us in seemed to have some difficulty figuring out how to check us in but eventually managed it. Essentially a good budget level hotel.
I would suggest anybody who requires disabled/wheelchair facilities give this hotel a miss same with booking.com who booked it for us and then told us it was up to us to check this out the parkingcan cost you quite a lot if your vehichle is over 2.1 metres the sleeping accomodation was comfortable and the hotel was nice and clean
A really good budget hotel with a good location. Guy at reception was dealing with a full IT breakdown when we booked in but still managed to be plesent. Room was large and very quiet considering other was on the front. Not bad for 80 euro
price is good for being down town. Hotel offers also rooms for thee persons. In front of the railwaystation where you can also park your car. On walking distance plenty restaurants, bars etc. Next door a good baker if you want to grab a quick early breakfast.
Lovely hotel located right next to the train station in Dijon. We stayed there for 3 nights while trying to get away from the madness of the Euros for a couple of days! Nice staff and a cosy and clean room which was luxury compared to some of the other places we stayed in France travelling about for the football!
The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of town. It's slightly confusing to get to because there are tram lines and it's right near the station, so we ended up parking in the street which was fine. Our friends parked near the station in the multi storey car park which the hotel gave them a ticket for. The lobby area is very smart and the staff were very helpful. The rooms themselves are fairly basic but absolutely fine. The only slight issue we had, was that we were at the front of the hotel and I could hear the trams and people out in the street, because it was a Friday night. If you're a light sleeper I would suggest asking for a room away from the street.
