We’d been to Hotel Portaventura three years ago and stayed in a room that overlooked the main piazza area and it was average! Clean and bright and what we expected for a hotel at a theme park. This time we payed more to “upgrade”(?) to a room which was a “Woody and Friends” room which they called a “suite” (?????) On arrival we were told that we would be sent a text when our room was ready! No text and at 6 we got into our room. It was filthy! I cleaned the bathroom floor and tops and tiles with baby wipes. I could have weaved a rug with the various hair types I found! Yuk! The safe didn’t work so we waited for an engineer and it was duly fixed! There were 2 small bottles of complimentary water in room (for three of us) and after day 1 these were not replenished which I think they should be as a basic offering in a “suite” (I refer to that term loosely very very loosely ... it was no better than the room we had before... infancy it was worse). The food is absolutely awful in all respects! This goes throughout the park too! My husband is vegetarian and he’s struggled to get anything other than pasta or pizza (that was if he was lucky) and in the park we asked about vegetarian options and were told chips and onion rings!!!! Disgraceful!!!Even in the supposedly a la Cart restaurants the food choice was limited mostly cold and revolting! The hotel is noisy but we can accept that as it goes with the territory but please do something about improving F&B and seriously this is 3 star at best! (Yes even the “suite”. You can do something about the filth! Doubt we will stay again. That said we love the park rides and entertainment!

We have been coming to Port Aventura for several years as a couple and now with our young family. As such, we have noticed a decline in quality at the hotel and unfortunately will not be returning until the hotel ups their game. Reception - upon our arrival, there was no-one waiting for the receptionist who was typing in to the computer. She looked up and acknowledged our presence but did nothing for 5 minutes. Another family then came in to the foyer to check in, pushed in front of us and the receptionist began to serve them. At which point I mentioned that we were waiting only to be told in spanish (I speak enough to get by) 'you go and wait over there'. Another receptionist came and checked us in, not a great start to the hotel experience. Rom - The room was not ready until 3pm (never has it been in all of our stays, even when the hotel is relatively quiet and we have a young child), so we left our luggage in the secure area. At 4pm we went to collect our luggage from the luggage room and head to our room, to be told that our luggage was already in our room. Great we thought, that's a nice customer service touch, until we arrived in our ground floor room to see that our patio doors were wide open with our luggage sat in front. Anyone could have easily stolen all of our possessions! The room itself was shocking, my wife cleaned the bathroom herself as it was filthy. Months worth of dust was laying on the tile tops, toilet cistern, hairdryer holder and cord, toilet roll holder etc. There were hairs in the bath and the toilet. The tiles were mouldy and smelt and paper coming off the walls. The glass shower curtain was covered in dirt and mould that we could not clean off. We were provided with four bath towels, all four had holes in them and were more like exfoliators they were so rough. Half way through our stay we dropped the towels in the bath which means we would like new towels. The next four also had holes in them, one had three holes in much to the amusement of our daughter who used it as a puppet. The rooms also have very thin walls, we also suffered noisy neighbours so ever night but one we were kept awake by screaming children (or the adults having a domestic) or woken early. Needless to say, we arrived home exhausted. Power sockets, or lack of power sockets. There just aren't any available for use. You have to remove the plug for the lights meaning the main bedroom area is un lit if you want to charge your devices. Fridge - do not head out and buy supplies expecting them to stay fresh in the fridge. The fridges at the hotel are not cold and will not keep anything fresh. Food - The food has never been great at this hotel, but wow it managed to get even worse during this trip. Breakfast is better than evening meal as they now serve pancakes however these are very popular and there is often a queue (to which most locals ignore and barge to the front). After the first evening meal, my daughter cried the following day because she was afraid to go back in to the same restaurant, luckily they served one dish that she ate renewing her faith (until the following day). In the past we could exchange our meal in the hotel buffet restaurant for other hotels and al la carte restaurants in the park, however were told that we couldn't do that this trip as it was the end of the season so we were stuck eating at the onsite restaurant if we wanted to use our half board. The drinks and table cleaning staff in the restaurant were also rather rude, I have never eaten somewhere where you have to keep out of the way of the staff for fear of being bumped in to. Pools - they aren't heated and are absolutely freezing. No more needs to be said here, maybe they are warmer in summer from the sun but we have never stayed at the height of the season preferring to visit at Halloween time. Internet - it works and is readily available in most areas of the hotel. It isn't fast but youtube works in standard definition (will buffer in 720p and above). They seem to have blocked VPN access however, so be wary of using the internet for anything requiring personal data. The good - its location. You are right on the park and a stroll in to Salou. The location is the only reason to stay here, if you are staying here for the hotel, don't. If you will be all day every day and only use the hotel for sleeping them consider Hotel Port Aventura. Unfortunately now we have children, the woeful food and dirtiness of the rooms means that we can no longer stay here again until things improve.

I stayed here during half term week with my children. It was meant to be a much-needed break for the three of us. Whilst we have all enjoyed the theme park - some fantastic rides there if you like rollercoasters - the hotel itself has been a bit of a disappointment. This is not a 4* hotel. The state of the decor let's it down. The room could have been cleaner and a smell of damp lingered - I eventually worked out that this was coming from condensation from the window making the blackout curtain wet. Food was at best average. What four star hotel offers cheap watered down orange juice and pineapple juice as the only juice options?? Plenty of cereals on offer and the usual ham, cheese and bread. But the cooked breakfast was not good. The sausages in particular were awful. American style pancakes with maple syrup were nice, but best to wait for freshly cooked ones otherwise expect them to be stone cold. Dinner was ok - but quite repetitive and often luke warm. The pool area is lovely, but beds a little uncomfortable after a while. Expect the pool to be closed from late September. I wasn't aware of this at the time of booking. The first day of our holiday was 26 degrees and a maintenance guy came round telling everyone to get out of the pool. The reason I found out later was due to there being no lifeguard. Very disappointing. Reading some other reviews I can't believe that no one is complaining about the TERRIBLE piped music that is played throughout the hotel resort from 9am til 9pm. It drives you insane!!!! It would be so much better to have no music at all. It truly is awful. On the day we decided not to visit the park we were pleased to visit the beach, which is beautiful. Beware of pick pockets though. The saving grace of this hotel is the free park entrance. The park is fantastic. At this time of year - outside of weekends - the wait times are not too bad. Furious Baco often has the longest wait times, but the rest we found to be 20mins maximum. If I came back again it would be solely for the park entrance. The hotel itself could do much better.

Recently returned from a trip to the hotel and theme park. The hotel is 3 star at best, not 4 star. The rooms are extremely dated, furniture dated and dirty. There was no air con as advertised in the room as they switch this off in October. I reported an awful smell of vomit outside our patio doors, which meant we could have the doors open but was never resolved through our entire stay. The food was average and not enough variety. Entertainment in the evening was aimed purely at young children, my two teenage girls didn't really feel like dancing to, heads, shoulders, knees and toes!! On a plus note, the hotel staff were very friendly and the portaventura park was excellent, but Ferrari land is very overrated.

As previous TA commentators have said this is really a 3 star hotel listed as a four. The rooms are basic and not really big enough for the number of people they jam in. We were 4 people - my 12 yo was classed as an adult so technically we were 3 adults and one child in the room and we had two double beds ..... better I suppose than putting a child on a sofa bed but still it ideal. None of the pools were working (or the water park because it was too late in the season even though it was still very warm for most UK visitors). The rooms look more as though they are designed to withstand serious abuse. The real issue is the noise. You can literally hear everything in the rooms either side and we overlooked the main square and we will be haunted by the sound of air hockey being played at midnight. This is probably ok for a 2-3 star but really this isn’t 4 star territory. However, the staff are nice, most areas are clean, the food in half board is ok ( we coped for 3 out of the four days there before going into Salou for a 5 blob meal). Best of all this hotel is clean, the access to the park is fantastic (through a direct turnstile), unlimited access is included in the hotel price (along with one visit to Ferrariland) and the deal for the Portaventura express is excellent - the one off price offered in the hotel covers you for the whole of your stay regardless of how long which can be amazing value for the privilege of walking straight onto all of the main rides. For the access to Portaventura alone, consider using these hotels but go planing to spend most of your time outside of the room.

Is a world build to facilitate the visit of Park Aventura , it look like a small city with centrale square The rooms are comfortable , very nice the swimming pool that run into the city Facilities accessible for everyone Very nice place Suggested

Visited this hotel for a family mini break, lovely hotel 2 things wrong with it 1, the hotel didn't seem to stay open during the day so we couldn't get a drink or anything else while sitting around the pool 2 most importantly be very careful not to leave anything in your room as I did because you WILL NOT GET IT BACK. I left my kindle in the room when packing to go home realising just before we left the hotel, when I spoke with staff at reception they told me to email them and they would sort it out. After 3 emails they finally contacted me to say it hadn't been found which was a surprise to me as the only person that had been in the room apart from me was the maid, she has ever stolen it or pit it in lost property which I mentioned to them. Feeling very cross about this as I was looking to book for next year but don't think I'll be going to stay somewhere where my property could go missing.

good stay at this hotel, yes its expensive for what you get its not 4 star as advertised in my opinion maybe 2 or 3, it needs a refurb asap. I dont know if its the same in every room but the washing line in the bathroom dosent reach it was at least 3 inches too short. The buffet is very good different meals every night the one thing that should be better is that the food should be piping hot not luke warm, the only time this happend was when roast chicken was on the menu, all hot food should be piping hot not luke warm. I cant fault the reception staff, check in was very quick and room allocated just before 3pm, it would have been better to have this earlier when you arrive in resort around 11.30am.

We stayed at the hotel with 3 young children. It's ideal for easy access to the theme park. The hotel is clean, yet room is very small and it doesn't look like a 4* hotel. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner.

It's a good choice for family with young children, they have a very nice surrounding, the accommodation is not 4* is 3*, but clean , the view from the room is very nice (3245), the food is ok but 3* also, the staff is nice, bed very comfortable - the bedsheets/blanket are poor, cafe Saula - very good coffee
