We had a lovely stay overall in the hotel. From the welcome at reception to the comfortable overnight stay in our room, we were very happy with the hotel. The one let-down we experienced was at breakfast the morning after our stay. The service was appalling. We arrived for breakfast at 8.45, a whole 1hr15mins before breakfast ended (@10am). Having worked in the hospitality industry, I was well aware that breakfast can get hectic the closer you arrive to closing time. We were greeted by the manager on entrance to the breakfast room and seated towards the back of the room. Once there, the manager directed us to the buffet. We had a brief look at the menu in anticipation of ordering our cooked breakfasts, but as no one seemed to be attending to us, we proceeded to help ourselves at the breakfasts buffet. We sat back down at our table and finished our cold breakfast. We waited a while longer as there was no staff towards this end of the room, if they had been passing I would have had no problem stopping to ask if they could take our order. The only activity that appeared to be ongoing was the manager seating more and more guests. Two families (of 4+ people) who had been seated in our area after us, were seen to first. Finally after making eye contact with the same manager who seated us a good half hour before, he came to take our order. Our cooked breakfast arrived at our table at 10am. The manager was very apologetic. On the bright side the both the buffet and cooked breakfasts were delicious when they were finally served.

I visited here recently for a wedding and was blown away by the place. It is so modern and beautiful. The rooms were stunning and the staff so lovely to deal with. The food was delicious and of a high standard. I will definitely return .

If visiting Cork stay.at Maryborough Hotel & Spa. We had five rooms for family occasion and great rates for a top-class hotel. Great reception - welcoming & organised; comfortable clean bedrooms & attractive decor; super clean bathrooms with all provisions & Espa products; excellent food - seafood chowder was best ever & breakfast delicious & to order. Members of family used gym & swimming pool & very impressed. Most of all the staff were friendly, efficient & professional. Will definitely head for this great establishment again!

Staff were lovely and did their best. Room was very dated. Not somewhere I would want to stay again. Needs to be freshened up. Spa area was the best part, again staff there were very friendly. Pity the bedrooms were so basic.

Staff at reception and in bar were were friendly, engaging without being overbearing. Got good food at the bar. The room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed, slept soundly. Good breakfast in the morning

Our suite had been booked by colleagues, and we had no idea where we would be staying. What a phenomenal surprise when we arrived at the hotel (2 adults and 2 children) to see the equivlent of a stately home with smiling, friendly staff, and the most amazing adjoining family rooms in the form of suites that we could have hoped for. Everything in the hotel has been refurbished to perfection and yet was not remotely stand-offish or pretentious. We dressed nicely after our swim and ate a wonderful meal as a family in the fabulous restaurant (note: fillet of beef = magnificent). Loved every second - will come back with friends to avail of the spa facilities - the whole thing was capped off by the most decadent, delicious breakfast that I (or the kids) can remember. French toast, pancakes, omelettes....wonderful. And the icing on the cake - a wonderful woman who served us called Rosarie - so welcoming and lovely that my 11 year old daughter gave her an unprompted hug on the way out. It's not easy balancing a high end hotel, catering for families and allowing everyone present to have the getaway they were looking for, but these guys totally nailed it. Thank you so very, very much (esp. Rosarie)!!

I, like most of the other reviewers thoroughly enjoyed my stay. From check in to departure, the staff were always courteous, Denis on Front Desk greeted us warmly, and checked us in quickly. What a lovely gentleman he turned out to be. Read on. Room was perfect with a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. It was a birthday celebration but this information was not given to the hotel. Within minutes a bottle of prosecco arrived. How lovely a gesture was that. The leisure centre is great, we spent hours there. Yes, I agree that the separate thermal spa rooms were my first experience of separate areas for men and women, ive mixed feelings about it, its good for girlie spa breaks, but for couples maybe not. This wasn't a deal breaker for me and I just got on with it. The changing rooms were so well stocked with creams and toiletries and constantly being checked. The products were in fact very nice and I left feeling very revived after using same. Breakfast was lovely, just enough food on display at all times, no hot food being kept warm under lights, it was all cooked fresh in the kitchen. Well done on that one. Dinner in the bar the first night was fine, we had fish and chips. Dinner on the 2nd night was part of our package and was a choice from the menu - not sure but think it was 4 course. It was really good. Back to Denis, as we were having our dinner, he made the effort to come to the dining room to ask how my stay was going and if I was having a good birthday, this impressed me. What I can take from my stay is how calm the hotel was, calm staff make calm guests and as for the breakfast, less is more, there was no pulling and dragging of food and guests just took what they needed. I had a truly great stay, loved every minute and came away saying, "why didn't we do this before now". Well done to all the staff. Oh I must just also pay a special mention to "Sarah* in the Spa who co-ordinated a treatment for me via e mail across the seas. She'll know what I mean. I will be back.

Beautiful Hotel definitely the best place to go when you want to chill! Has everything you want lovely friendly staff that always go the extra step! Also child friendly! Relaxing Garden to sit out and enjoy the peace. Fantastic spa too and if energetic can go for a swim!!!

One of my favorite places to visit when in Cork. Afternoon tea is a delight, the restaurant has fantastic food and the rooms are gorgeous. Well worth a visit! We also have attended weddings here. The banquet room and service is top notch.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and amazing spa. A real treat of a weekend. Walls in the room itself were quite thin to the extent that we could hear the people next door having a normal conversation and could even hear the text alerts on their phone. The only disappointing part to a truly lovely stay.
