This is a nice hotel that is a little outside the main part of Columbo (about 5-10 tuk tuk ride). I mention this as it cost a little extra to when traveling from the airport to the hotel. Aside from that it was easy to get around. And since it is outside the busiest sections of Columbo it is quiet. We stayed here for New Year's on the 4th floor. You could hear the music from the rooftop bar/lounge but not from the room. I heard from people on higher floors that the music could be disturbing. On Friday and Saturday they have DJ's in the lounge. So if you want to get a good nights rest it might be best to request a low floor. We did not have an ocean facing room, but you could still get a great view from the lounge on the roof. We stayed in the basic room. The room was not very big, but it was clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was spacious. We were thrown off when we saw that only half the shower had a wall (no door). So the water from the shower sometimes leaked onto the bathroom floor. The breakfast buffet had a lot of delicious options including Sri Lankan specialties, Indian, and standard continental food. My favorite part was a fully automatic coffee and espresso machine. It ground the beans fresh and was able to make a good latte, espresso, or regular coffee.
This hotel is truly a 4 star hotel. The rooms are aesthetically pleasing, and the views are amazing. The breakfast is tasty, and has a wide selection. Though, the staff may want to do a better job at cleaning tables, seating guests, and providing utensils to guests. The food at this hotel is very tasty. However, room service may want to reconsider their policy of taking a guest's credit card to charge it at the time of room service. I waited nearly 40 minutes for my card to be returned to me, and I think this is simply unacceptable. Other than these minor negatives, the hotel is a 4 star with all modern amenities.
Stayed there for five nights on a business trip. Very conveniently located to get to activities in and around Colombo. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good Breakfast buffet that is VERY reasonably prized with both western and Asian selections. I wish there was some sort of accommodation for drivers. I had a car and a driver and he had to find his own accommodation at night and had to hang out in the baking sun during the day whenever I went to my room.
The timing was pretty bad and as such the hotel was being evacuated by the firefighters the moment I set foot in my room. Experience was so so.
Ozo Colombo was a wonderful hotel located about a 15 min tuk tuk ride from the heart of downtown Colombo ( make sure you pick a metered tuk tuk--should cost about 250 to 300 rupees). I highly recommend a dream room with an ocean view. The first morning after arriving into Colombo from a long flight, we were able to wait in the lobby while our room was getting ready. It took about an hour, but we were able to use the two Mac computers in the lobby while we waited. I highly suggest getting the package with breakfast included--their am Buffett spread is a very good mix of Sri Lankan and western choices! Otherwise it's $10 U.S. Per person--which I still think is a deal. The rooms are modern and clean. A modest size. The views of the sunset and the ocean are amazing. If you don't have an ocean view head to the rooftop deck to chill out and get a great view of everything around. The air conditioning is nice and cold. The only complaint is that if you want to be walking distance to Colombo this isn't the place for you. However, for the price and the inexpensive tuk tuk rides into the city, I'd say this is a perfect place to stay!
I stayed here at the end of a 3 week journey through Sri Lanka. It was a wonderful conclusion to my trip. The hotel is a very modern new hotel with an interesting design to it. The rooms are spacious (I definitely recommend an Ocean view room), comfortable and great for every type of traveler. The rooftop pool is a nice touch, with a view of the entire coast line, you can relax with a beverage or lay poolside and swim. Although the service can be spotty, the manager, Hazmi, is wonderful and saw to my care. If I owned a business, I would hire this man to run it. As far as the food, I ordered a la carte from the rooftop and didn't really enjoy my dish. I recommend the buffet over the a la carte. The room is equip with a work desk, a lounge chair, a large tv that is adjustable depending on where you'd like to watch from offering a variety of stations. The hotel is immaculately clean and every detail is cared to by the staff. The overall experience was excellent at the OZO.
