One of the friendliest check in experiences I have had in years of world wide travel. The staff was helpful and had a sense of humor The hotel was quiet, very cleann and thre service and food for dinner was outstanding.

Check in took too long, very understaffed hotel. Got to my room after a long flight and no running water. Its understandable being in Germany and an older hotel but no running water. Then a bad odor was coming from the plumbing. When I went down to tell the front desk another long wait, then had to leave for a meeting so no shower. Couldn't wash my hands after using the toilet. After my meeting, I got another hotel with running water. Then went to check out and was not offered a refund of my money even though there were several customers whos reservations where canceled. Worst experience in the hotel I have and hope to ever have.

Breakfast was good. Staff very friendly ...though room was small it was organized for efficienCy...good water pressure in shower

Dusseldorf hotels were all booked so had to stay in Cologne. The Mondial is a 5 minute walk to the train station. The train to Dusseldorf main station (Hbf) is only 30 min. Room was small but tidy. Walpaper and carpet are in need of replacement. Breakfast was superb, but at 25e it was expensive, especially given the proximity to other morning fare for fractions of the price. Bed was confortable and slept well. Walk across the street and up the steps to the Cologne Cathedral (Dom) for human and spiritual inspiration.

My handicap daughter and I traveled for treatment in Germany. My overall first impression was not the best, I thought it felt a little over the top. In the after a restful night I found the people and the concierge absolutely wonderful. The majority did not speak English, but they were quick to find someone that did. My daughter required an immediate trip to the hospital and they worked quickly to accommodate her every need. Each morning and afternoon shift at least one person would make a point to ask about her and they were all genuinely caring. I asked if they could find me a wheelchair rental and that evening the concierge was at our door with a brand new chair. When I asked how much, they said no… We are supplying this to you as you do not need to worry about anything else. The housekeeping service were over the top, at first they did not like to come in with my daughter ill, however once we were able to communicate they came right in and had things cleaned within minutes. I always saw someone cleaning or maintaining the entire hotel. There was a new subway construction in the front and we asked to be put up there as it gave me something to do while my daughter slept.. The noise was no louder than the beautiful church bells ringing and some days you barely noticed anyone working. If I had to say something negative about the hotel, they only thing I can think of is that one dinner was not thoroughly cooked; they immediately took care of it. When we ordered room service, they were there within minutes. Anything you wanted, they took care of. I really enjoyed the location; within minutes we were able to walk to museums, the river, the Dom and numerous restaurants. Thank you again Hotel Staff, you were AMAZING.
