Stayed at Imm Thapae for 3 nights, The location was good opposite side for Thapae Gate just cross the road!! Can walk from hotel to Warorad Market or night bazaa If you visit on weekend, also can walk from hotel to Saturday Night Market - Wui Lai Road, and walk cross the road to Sunday Night Market at Thapae Gate Room was comfortable and clean, only water drain in my bathroom was slow. Breakfast was okay. WiFi stable and staff are okay. Stay at Imm Thapae was easy to go around Chiangmai old city by walk.
Wonderfully located opposite Thapae Gate and a casual stroll to Old City. Hotel room was clean and spacious, staff were helpful & the tour desk helped us in our daily activities whilst in Chiang Mai. Did not have breakfast so could not say how well this was although McDonald's is literally downstairs at the entrance. Well worth the price we paid and would be happy to come stay here again.
The hotel generally is very good, friendly staff, very handy location and fair price. However, we have a few gripes. First of all, the breakfast buffet offers only unhealthy, nutrition-less white bread. Whole wheat or multigrain bread is not that expensive. We ended up buying good bread and taking it with us to have at breakfast. Fortunately, the staff didn't mind. A more serious problem -- the cleaning staff decided to clean our room although we had not hung out the "Clean our room" sign. Amazingly, when we returned to the room we found the cleaning staff had left a window open -- and this was on the side of the building where workers had scaffolding and were painting the outside of the building. We have no idea if this was an intentional attempt to let a worker "friend" climb in the window and steal all our laptops or not. It was certainly a serious and unforgivable security breach. When I reported this at check-out, the young man on the front desk seemed to have a blank look.
My second stay here and definitely more to come. Rooms are really clean and spacious ( 3 rooms in my group) . Basic amenities-soap and shampoo, big bath towels, water boiler/2 mugs ( no coffee/tea sachet, get your own from 7-11). This time we were located on the 3rd floor so no noise . Mr. Wee ( Hotel manager) has been very helpful with our request and reservations . Location couldn't be better, right on the steps of Tapae Gate ( in fact just opposite) and plenty of food around . Transport easily available in front of hotel . Sunday Walking Street is a must for all visitors to Chiangmai and is just located at Tapae Gate. its a extremely long kind of night market so be prepared to walk . Another plus point, all in house guests are entitled to 20 % discount at McDonald's (next door) and also discounts at other tourists spots like night safari. We are very happy with our stay at Imm ThaPhae Hotel, Chiangmai. Good job Mr Wee .
Stayed 3 nights. We stayed in room 201 and noticed there was some sewer smell in the room. Complaint to the room service and a housekeeping lady came to spray room freshener. However after sometimes, the smell appear again. We had to request for a room change. Breakfast variety is limited. There were mosquitoes at the lobby area. Not sure whether this is a common problem in other hotels chiangmai.
This is my first time to Chiang Mai. Was looking for a clean, moderately price hotel in a good location. After some research I settled on the Imm Hotel. It was rated a 3 star. When I read the reviews they stated that the hotel had no elevator. I was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist pointed to the elevator after I checked it. It seemed they had install an elevator recently. The room I must admit is quite bare but neat and clean. I asked for a quiet room after reading about some rooms, especially the ones facing the courtyard, being noisy. I was given room 345 which was not only quiet but around the corner from the elevator. There is a small window in my room but it overlooks the interior of the hotel. The room had a safe which is a bonus. It also had two single beds pushed together which was not an issue to me, I found the bed to be very comfortable. The location of the Hotel is its greatest plus. Being a newbie I didn't want to be stuck somewhere far from the city centre. The Imm hotel is just across fro Thaphae Gate, which is the eastern gate of the old city. On Sunday the road opposite the hotel is the start of the Sunday Night Market. It is something not to be missed so I suggest you include a Sunday in your stay. There is also a Macdonalds downstairs where guests enjoy a 20% discount and a spa named Relax Express where guests enjoy a 10% discount. The foot massage is 250 thb. I enjoyed both my massages there as the masseurs were good. Ask for Cat. There is also a Starbucks across the street and just inside the old city gate there are a few decent restaurants such as Sailomjoy, Lert Ros and Cooking Love. There is also a Burger King and at night, street food stalls if you walk north along the wall. There are lots of tuks tuks and songthaews outside the hotel. These are the main mode of transports. The ride sharing Grab is also available and is very affordable. 60 thb to most places in the city but be aware that language may be an issue and also sometimes the driver cannot find where you are. If you want to exchange currency there is a lady (well both times I went there was a lady)next to the Boots Pharmacy that has the best rates in town. I checked all over believe me. Now there are two exchanges next to the Boots. Be sure to go to the one at the back. The wifi is fast and reliable as I managed to stream a show.
We stayed here for 2 days with my family and we were very happy to stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was new and ckean. The breakfast was ok and the price is reasonable. If anyone looking for easy stay in town, this one shoukd be the right choice for you.
We stayed 4 nights about 2 weeks ago. Comfortable bed, clean room, fantastic location in the Old City, good English speaking staff and service, discount at maccas, transport with tuk tuk or taxi if required. Walking distance to near night bazaar. Room price was better than the hotel across the road, with all the basic essentials. Wifi was very good in the room. The only negative is the shower, water was very warm to cold, and definitely need fixing without further negative reviews. Overall we will return to this hotel and see more of Chiang Mai.
McDonald is just at the ground floor of the hotel, just next to hotel exit/entrance. Hotel guests can get 20% disc when shows the hotel card key to the staff at McDonald. Breakfast is provided by the hotel, if not enough, next to the hotel is the family restaurant that serve breakfast as well. Across the street in front of the hotel is the old city, Tha Phae Gate, the weekend night market is just behind the gate. To the right side of the hotel across the side road is the Boots Pharmacy, next to it is Starbucks. Walk few minutes after Starbucks, there is this Muan restaurant serving local and western cuisine, very nice and value for money. Next to this restaurant, a local restaurant without air con, selling Thai food, at the entrance of the restaurant stated to the guests to wear appropriately. Hotel itself has massage service cost around Baht 250 per hr. If walk along the side road to the right of the hotel, about 5 to 10 mins, there is a massage service in the Temple itself. The Temple is quite big, so one will not miss it. Cost Baht 150 per hr. But it's open concept, no curtain or partition for privacy. For foot reflexology, it's at the ground floor of the Temple. Very minimal comfort, sit on plastic chair. If body massage, it will be at 2nd floor of the Temple. Mattresses are on the floor, just choose one, no privacy as mentioned earlier. No air con, but have few fans there. No blanket provided as well. Saw another massage parlour opposite the Temple, cost Baht 200 per hr, but seemed like better environment. The popular Warorot market and daily night market are nearby, about 5 to 10 minutes of car/tuk tuk ride. Hotel room itself is clean and provide daily room service. The dinning area is surrounded by guest rooms at the ground level. If you are an early bird, then the noise made by the guests during breakfast time (6.30 am onwards) will not be an issue. But if you want a quiet room, do remember to request room away from the dinning area. I stayed at room 340, level 3, it's quite quiet. Provided you don't have a noisy neighbor whom got drunk and bang the door in the middle of the night. I encountered it on my 1st night. Luckily next day he checked out. The hotel does provide electric kettle, 2 glass bottles of drinking water, and simple toiletry. No hair dryer in the room, either you bring yours along or borrow from front desk. Bring your own room slippers. No hand towel or face tissues provided. The water pressure in shower room is great though.
Once trip in Chiangmai Thailand with my friends. It is very appreciate to stay here. We are stay here for three nights. The room is clean and great safe location also reasonably priced. This hotel is very comfortable for transportation and another necessitie such as food you can have it at Macdonal shop or seven eleven it is very close to the hotel also this hotel is setting at the Thaphea Gate Chiangmai, there are sunday market at the weekend.
