Expensive, old and dirty

I stayed just one night and after I changed because the room are not beautiful, the bathroom is dirty. It's difficult to sleep because is very noisy. The price is very expensive because it's not a good hotel.

Nice place good location

Not so fancy but clean and nice. Perfect location middle of everything. Couple of geckos we had in room but they went away quickly as always. Breakfast was good thing. It was ok, having coffee or tea, toast and butter and jam, fruits and fried egg. Our local friend said that we could get same kind of hotel cheaper but I think it would not be sure during tourist season. Friendly staff.

Central Location but Very Noisy

Convenient central location but very noisy all night and no easy parking and no lift. Very helpful owner, but staff a bit unwelcoming. My fault about the amenities - should have checked lift and parking before I booked.

More than ordinary room

First the localization is ideal if you'd like to visit the old city of Chiang Mai. The staff is very, very, friendly, especially the owner. The room is quite disappointing though, i.e. the humidity, the smell and the horrible shower that makes the entire room wet.

Great family run hotel

Stayed here for 5 days over Christmas.staff were excellent and the location is superb. Booked some trips via the front desk and they were also good quality.

Good place to stay if you are on budget

Hotel was acceptable. Day staff was indifferent to problems encountered but night staff were a lot better and quicker in fixing problems. Would only recommend if other places not available due to day staff indifference. Second room was better and cleaner than first room. Hotel centrally located. Breakfast served was acceptable with a lot of bread selections. Overall after staying in 7 different hotels in thailand and cambodia this hotel was not highly rated on my chart for places to stay. Price was the only redeeming factor to stay here

Basic but clean and in the perfect location.

All in all one can not fault the Montrara. It is basic but clean the beds are comfortable and the staff were always helpful. Positioned right in the heart of the city it is a perfect place to stay.

The photos are not what we found

We just look for another guest house , it has not the mínimum for staying.
