Overall it is a good stay. The staff is nice and always smiles to you. They have security check at the front door, so it is a bit annoying every time when you come back. One point is that they forgot to clean my room for two days, which should not have happened. Another point is that the food for the room service is way overpriced and did not taste good. I hope they can improve these points.

The location is in the most touristy part of Chiang Mai, though still relatively convenient to Old City, etc. The Night Bazaar outside is a total tourist trap (other night markets in town are great), but most of the other options around are McDonalds, etc. The hotel itself is pretty nice, and everyone was nice to us, but it feels a bit like a prison with the airport-level security every time you come in and out of the hotel.

You ever stay at a hotel where every time you came back to that hotel from being out for the day and you were ecstatic to be back? That's what staying at this hotel feels like. Chiang Mai is a wonderful town, but it's also busy and a bit dirty. So having a safe haven that is comfortable and everyone on the staff makes you feel welcome was a true blessing. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be coming back

Excellent staff! The location is very good, you can walk to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner. The night bazaar is about 15 min and one of the famous temples is 50min away. Definitely recommended

Great experience with staff and local population Top quality building and very clean

Because of Expedia, we were "nickeled and dimed" at the front desk at check in because apparently the reservation only included one breakfast for a two person room! Who does this? This was not made clear in the Expedia reservation. Thankfully, after getting the hotel manager, she provided the other breakfasts for free, as we originally expected. I do not think this hotel should use Expedia if Expedia is going to do such a stupid thing as provide only one breakfast for a two person room!

Amazing hotel!!! Everything was top notch!! We upgraded and the lounge access was terrific.

The staff were the best part of the stay. Always friendly, respectful and willing to go the extra mile without even being asked. I felt like each one was there to personally help us. The breakfast buffet was outstanding -- fresh and varied. The room and pool were above average but didn't stand out as much as the staff.

The staff were really nice. We even received a cake for my mom's birthday.

It's beautiful Hotel and excellent hotel customer service... I will definitely return for the next trip

Had a fantastic stay at the shangri la during Loy krathong festival. They upgraded our room and gave us free wine, fruit, and decorated our room as well because of our anniversary. Room was beautiful and spacious as is the hotel. We were even able to use the spa to shower prior to our flight that evening after we already checked out. Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout.

We stayed as a family of three for three nights before moving to another hotel for business meetings. We didn't want to leave. We booked a Horizon Club Deluxe room but we were upgraded to a Horizon Club Premier room!! The room was very spacious with a nice sitting area and King sized bed. Our daughter slept on the "day bed." The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub and great amenities, including bath salts and plush towels. It's worth spending the extra to stay on the Horizon Club levels. They provide great service, free drinks and snacks at the lounge and a free Happy Hour from 5-7 where delicious snacks and desserts and drinks are provided. Horizon Club guests can also choose to eat breakfast at the lounge or downstairs in the main dining room. We tried both and preferred the privacy and service of the lounge, and some foods like waffles, eggs, etc are made fresh and to order! The pool and surrounding area are beautiful. Pool staff service was mixed. Some were fantastic and friendly but others were lazy and kind of rude. Ice water and fresh fruit and washcloths are provided to the pool guests. Pool food is good but a bit pricey (to be expected). No other food is allowed at the pool. Some kid toys are available as well. The weather was a bit cooler in late January when we stayed, and the pool was therefore quite cold. It didn't stop my daughter from having fun, though! Free wireless throughout the hotel was nice. The Night Bazaar is a 10-15 minute walk away. Banquet rooms are beautiful and food excellent. We did a company banquet there after we checked out.

This is a great hotel, The facilities are fantastic and the service is better than we have encountered in other 5 star hotels. The room was very clean and well decorated. The grounds and swimming pool are very beautiful. The restaurants offer varitiety of Thai and other dishes. We will add the Shangri-La hotels on the top of the list of hotels we will visit in our future travels.

The hotel building is new and gorgeous - great use of wood - Lanna style. Our room was very large and comfortable. The food service, especially breakfast, was not up to the standard of the Shangrila in Bangkok. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped us feel comfortable visiting Chiang Mai.
