As a general rule, I spend as little time in hotels as possible. It's much more interesting to be in a city than sequestered away at business lodgings, after all. But the outstanding service I received at every turn during my stay in Westin Velachery made me want to take the time to share my experience. Vidhya and Satish were outstanding in taking care of my room, and it was a pleasure to come back and find small decorations set out for me. Sai ensured we were always wonderfully taken care of during meals, but also friendly without ever feeling forced. And while I'm naming a few stand-outs, it's important to note that they aren't exceptions but proof of the rule: service here is first-rate, and your stay will always be comfortable and relaxed.
I am a big Fan of Westin. Have been to the one in Gurgaon and Pune. Dropped to Westin Chennai for a Coffee and some quiet time. Liquor Ban believe has impacted most of the Hotels in Chennai and you can feel it the silence of the property. Issac at the Bell Desk was very helpful, in fact it was surprising that he was outspoken and helpful, compared to other employees standing around, without a smile. Lobby lounge service can be bettered. Junior employees like bell desk, valets and security were more interactive and pleasant compared to other well groomed and smart managers and executives. Missing the name of person at Concierge whose passion is Kabaddi- he was pleasant and welcoming. Wishing the property all the best to get the liquor service going soon.
Location - Depending on the time of day/ day of week, you are 10-30 minutes from the airport. There is a car service available through the hotel that can pick you up. If you are new to India, best choice is to close your eyes and not open them until you arrive at the hotel! Traffic here is entirely different than most places. Check in - Very quick. They really treat you like you are the most important person in the hotel. I had a few questions and they were able to answer quickly. Room - Very clean. You control your own temperature. The finishes were high end for a basic room with a king bed and desk. Every convenience you would expect from Westin. During the day, I could easily hear the traffic on the main street at the front but the noise died down around 10 every night and didn't start until about 7 in the morning so there was plenty of hours of quiet. I never heard any neighbors despite seeing tons of people around. Restaurants - I ate every breakfast at the restaurant off the lobby as well as 2 dinners during the week I was there. For breakfast - I have never seen so many options! There were traditional local options, western options (hashbrowns, bacon, eggs, etc), asian options, pastries, teas, coffees, and fruits! Dinner - you had buffet options as well as full meal options. Everything was delicious! The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and, when they found out it was my first time in India and I was willing to try different foods, seemed happy to give me samples of tons of things beyond anything that I'd ordered. When they found out I like desserts (a LOT!), they kept bringing them over for me to try until I had to beg them to stop! No more room! I also ate one meal at the Sunset Grill - the restaurant outside on a balcony area off the pool area. The food was very good and service was fantastic. I just found the amount of big ants and general bugs too much for my American sensitivities and dined inside the rest of the time. Hotel - pool area was wonderful. The hotel is mostly populated by business travelers so there aren't any slides for the kiddos but there are peaceful little waterfalls and the few young kids I saw in the pool seemed to be having a fine time. Not a ton of people. It's next to the spa and fitness facilities. In general, everything is clean and well maintained as well as visually appealing. Of course, if you're an SPG member, there are some perks! If I am lucky enough to visit Chennai again, regardless of whether for work or pleasure, I will be staying here!
A business hotel that lacks a soul..... Chennai has many properties that play up the local heritage and perhaps this wants to be different. But it doesn't go far enough. Food at breakfast had a limited range of options. Toiletries were limited and dull. You didn't even have a shoe shine kit or a razor. Quality was basic and way below what you see in sister JW Marriotts where Aromatherapy rules. The Starwood benefits are also not at par. Gold in Marriott gets you lounge access. Here it gets you a measly 200 Star Points. Seriously stingy. No good eating options nearby unless you drive down to the Phoenix Market City mall. Television doesn't have HD channels. No USB charging ports in an otherwise modern room. On the plus side, service is wonderful both at reception and in the restaurant. That does help.
We are frequent visitors to Westin Chennai, on 17th May We been to Westin for food along with my friends, All together we were 7-8 people and Had awesome time and food was Gr8 in Lobby Level Buffet restaurant, F & B Staff Manoj was very Very helpful, taking care of all our request and Very attentive towards every small things...

It was a wonderful experience staying in Westin. I was impressed by the exceptional services provided by Concierge Mr. Karthick. Karthick helped me a lot during my trip. However I bothered him with my requests, he would always smile and provide me a professional service. Besides Karthick, I also received wonderful services by other staffs in the hotel. I would definitely choose to stay in Westin in my next trip to Chennai - considering Westin provides such amazing services, I will choose this hotel in my trip to other country whenever this is one there.
I stayed here many times here, and reason to choose is, - Excellent Service from reception during check-in time to reception during check-out time. - Concierge, Service Express, House Keeping all are well in place. - Breakfast variety was good, so as Wi-fi. Next to Phoenix shopping mall, does not take much time reaching from airport and reachable to IT area in Perungudi or City center T-Nagar and around areas. - Excellent Travel services.
This hotel is conveniently located fairly close to a big mall. The rooms are not as large as other Westin hotels and are a little tired looking. My room had a terrible musky smell which just didn't go away. There is a nice business centre. Reception staff are friendly.
I spend two nights in the Westin Chennai Hotel this week . The congierge Mr. Isaac was on duty for the night shift in the Westin Hotel when I urgently needed a bouquet of flowers for the following morning. He offered me to buy the flowers in the morning after the end of his shift at 8 o'clock. When I came to the lobby the following day he already had bought a wonderful bouquet. Trank you very much for this extraordinary service! The Hotel Must be Prodi of such responsible and motivated staff!
