The room was lovely, really nice and clean. The staff were fantastic. Especially as they rang me to say I left my EpiPens behind (I didn’t get the message until I was home sadly) but they were super prompt to let me know. On checking in the lady (can’t remember her name) went “oooh I’m meant to be going home, but I can check you in” my friend was being booked in at the same time.

In general a very nice place to stay. We have stayed here several times before. It is a treat to stay at this hotel. However on this particular occasion we experienced a few maintenance issues. We were given a very pretty room but a little later discovered the TV did not work. The team were helpful but could not fix this so suggested moving to another room which we accepted.This room was initially cold but later warmed up. Unfortunately in the new room the kettle did not work so was replaced by the team. It is also worth noting that the hotel lift was not functioning. This remains a very nice place to stay with helpful staff but a little more attention to maintenance issues. The issues we experienced did not make for a relaxing experience and we have never before had any issues at this hotel. We enjoyed the breakfast and good WiFi.

The staff were excellent and the breakfast was excellent. However, the corridors looked a bit tired, needs a repaint and new carpet. My room was very comfortable, and based on staff, food and location I would stay again.

Lovely room, loved the roll top bath and the large bathroom. Bed really comfy. Staff really helpful and friendly . Breakfast was great value didn't need to eat till tea time. Will definitely be returning.

A disappointing stay at HDV Cheltenham due to poor customer service. We were told 24 hours before our stay that, even as residential guests, we couldn’t get a table in the restaurant until late in the evening as it was full. 24 hours later they managed to “fit us in” at 6pm. The restaurant was barely 30% full when we arrived and remained that way until we left around 8pm - so quite why we were told tables weren’t available, I don’t know. They must lose so many bookings through incompetence. The following morning, we were told we didn’t have late check out but could pay £15 for it - even though it was included in the specific package we booked, so I had to go to reception and prove it was included. No apology for their error or disputing that I had it included. So much for a relaxing lie in. Finally, when I checked out, I was presented with a massive bill for a load of drinks that had been charged to my room by guests of the private event that was taking place the night before - even though I was clearly not part of the private event and specifically asked not to have a credit allowance on my account and to pay as I go. Why such a large amount of drinks were even allowed to be added to my room I don’t know and, again, no apology for their mistake. Not the kind of customer service you expect at HDV. More like Fawlty Towers. We wouldn’t stay here again when other better options are available.

One night stay on the way home.

Check in was slow because people were being shown to their rooms and it was not until a young woman came out of a back office that we were welcomed. Unfortunately the lift was not working so as a 78 year old man I had to carry our suitcase up to the second floor. Not good! The room was clean and all that we needed, the bathroom was large with a big shower and very hot water, but it was dark so putting contact lenses in was a challenge. Our stay was on a Saturday and the hotel was being used by family groups and so it was quite noisy in the public areas. There is little parking space and the bays are quite narrow. Dinner and breakfast were fine.

Stayed here a few times now. Rooms nicely decorated and comfortable. We were upgraded to a better room free of charge which was a lovely surprise. Check in staff member was friendly and efficient. The only negative was the air conditioning temperature it the room could have been colder. The air con unit was struggling with the really warm temperatures and couldn't go any cooler. However, we still slept well so it was fine. Montpellier is a lovely area with lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
