Travelers who love ancient history will love flying to Luxor, Egypt. The city is filled with monumental temples from when the great Pharaohs ruled the land. During your trip, you'll be able to go to the Karnak, Luxor Temple and Medinet Habu.
The Karnak Temple was created during Pharaoh Amun's rule, in the 16th century BC, and the next 30 pharaohs continued to add more to the temple over the next 1300 years.
The Valley of the Kings is a popular location because you can spend an entire day touring the area and seeing the ancient tombs. If you want to enjoy some modern amenities while you view the area, you can take a multi-day cruise along the Nile River.
When you fly to Luxor, you'll arrive at Luxor International Airport (LXR). The airport is roughly six miles east of the city, and you can get to town easily by taking a taxi or shuttle bus.
Although the city is in the desert, the area can reach temperatures as low as 43 degrees in the winter. During the summer months, the average high can be between 100 and 106 degrees during the day.
