I can’t find enough words to talk about how amazing this home/venue is! We just had my daughter’s wedding there this weekend & it couldn’t have been more perfect! She wanted a backyard garden wedding and Retreat in the Woods was the perfect venue for her dream wedding. It was so convenient to be able to stay at house for the weekend! Christina, the host, was available throughout the process to answer all of my questions. Every guest there commented on the beautiful venue. It was truly magical and 11 out of 10 would recommend!!

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony on this property and it was absolutely perfect. Christina was very responsive and thoughtful. The house was cozy and had plenty of room for our family and a few friends to stay with us. The fire pit was the perfect size and the exterior is soooo magical at night. I cannot recommend this stay enough! We will most definitely be back

The home was beautiful and met all our needs. Plenty of sleeping room and sitting areas for people to talk and hang out. The backyard was amazing and had an amazing fire pit to utilize. The host was extremely responsive and helped for any questions. Saw the option to utilize as a venue and very beautiful for anyone needing a location for smaller event.

What stood out most was the overall experience and attention to detail. Christina was very welcoming and kept in contact when needed, especially at the beginning and end of our stay. She responded quickly to any concerns, which we truly appreciated.The amenities were in great condition and perfect for our family. The s’mores gift kit was a big hit around the fire pit, and the TVs and games kept everyone entertained. The quiet surroundings made it easy to relax and enjoy time together. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

Nice for Large Groups

Very beautiful house and yard. It is extremely spacious and is comfortable for a lot of people. Communication was good with the host. Upon arrival the wifi did not work, so we had to reset it and a lightbulb was out and it was fixed immediately, which was great! Overall, I would recommend this place, however, you will need to supply your own things like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. We were staying for a few days and did not have enough of the basic stuff like that to last the entire time. The washing machine did not work correctly and the AC system seemed to be spotty. The outside areas were the best part about this place. I would stay here again.

Anniversary

We hosted our 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Retreat in the Woods. Christina was amazing to deal with. Property was amazing and a perfect spot for our get together. The outdoor patio area fit our needs perfectly. Highly recommend this property if you have any large group get together.

Family Thanksgiving Getaway

The property is amazing, very roomy and comfortably fit our extended family of 12 and we hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 19 total. Tons of room to gather, eat, wonderful outdoor seating areas and even some short walking trails. Overall we had a really great time. Some things that weren't ideal: 1. Microwave was broken -- with an extended group of 12 over the holiday weekend, this was challenging when trying to heat up food or leftovers for the group. 2. Cleaning supplies in the kitchen were practically non-existent. Dishwashing liquid and counter spray bottles were practically empty, there were only ~ 8 trash bags stocked, half a roll of paper towels. We ended up buying our own products just to keep the place cleaned up after ourselves. 3. For 3 bathrooms and 12 people staying 5 days, we had only 5 rolls of toilet paper and single bath towel and wash cloth per person (on our beds). Both of these were challenging and by the 3rd day we had run out of TP and had to go run to the store to buy our own. Given the property is on a septic tank this seems risky to leave TP purchase up to guests. 4. Washing machine cycle knob broken - Seemed as though only one cycle (whites) worked on the knob when doing laundry. 5. Gas powered fire pit on patio was broken, the connection from the tub to the valve was broken and when we attempted to turn the gas on we immediately were overwhelmed with gas smell in the area. We promptly turned it off and thank goodness didn't have open fire.

Nephews 1st Birthday

We chose this property because it was in close proximity to Carowinds. Once we were checked in, we didn't even want to leave the property. They had everything you could imagine. From the closed in back porch to the secret back porch in the master bedroom. The double shower in the master bath, the fire pit, and the out door seating. We loved everything about this house. We'll be sure to book again!

Family trip reunion

Very nice property with all the amenities ready. We were many family members together and the house was able to host all of us. We really had fan and spent great time together. We all came from so many different places and this was a great location. Recommended.

Few Issues, But Lovely Property

Had a small family gathering here. There were a few issues as far as cleanliness. There were spiderwebs all over, dust covered areas, and an unclean grill, but we cleaned before anyone really showed up. The AC went out, and the owner took longer than necessary having me troubleshooting what looked like an "internet connection" issue in very hot weather. Turns out the issue ended up being a blown motor, that wasn't resolved until after 9pm our final night there. Efforts appreciated, though. The grass was not tended to at the property, but that was more an aesthetic issue. There was also no iron for use, which is weird as it looks like weddings can take place there. Overall, it served the needs of the people that stayed, just a little unfair on the double-dipping for a cleaning fee since we cleaned again.

A hidden gem!

We LOVED our stay here! The house is beautifully decorated, there are SO many fun little things to do without leaving the house. It's secluded enough for privacy but a quick trip into town for food. Lot's of little touches that made it stand for us, even having towels for every bed was such a nice touch as many places never have enough linens. I'd highly recommend for adults or families - a great place to stay!

Graduation Celebration was outstanding!

Perfect location for a family gathering! We had 3 days of mealtime outside on the expansive terrace, 3 nights of music and dancing at the firepit with smores (provided by the host), tons of space to play games (host provided a bunch of choices), a fully-stocked high end kitchen and very comfortable sleeping arrangements. The house has a ton of angles which created natural sound barriers so people could nap without disruption. There is so much green space and outdoor eating areas that I'm saving this spot for the next family wedding. The icing on the cake was the 3 patios for downtime and intimate areas for couples. It really was the best family gathering in years. A++++

Bridal Party Getaway

This property was so amazing. It was everything and more Bonefire, relaxing outside with Tea or coffee and take in the fresh air My sister / bridal party and friends loved this location. We will stay at this place again. The space for everyone to sleep eat relax was so heart felt. The neighbors came over to party with us, we had a one man band. I call this the Relax Retreat Reset in the Woods
