Stay at Morros Ultra
For some reason, I misread the listing and thought that this property was in or very near the walled city. It was too far to walk, so each day, my friend and I took a taxi to and then from the historic center. Fortunately, in Cartagena, taxis are very cheap. This apartment was nice. . . had a lovely pool and was right on the beach. There is not much in the area. I did try one restaurant nearby, and the food was nothing special but cheap and tasty. During our stay, the mini-split in my bedroom began leaking water. Quite a bit of water, actually. But I let Paula know, and early the next morning, a repairman came and took care of the problem. I was impressed with her immediate attention to the issue.I would have enjoyed having a microwave in the kitchen to warm us leftovers. Although I would have preferred being in the cuidad amurallada, for people who want privacy and quiet right on the beach, this is a good place.I would also recommend more lighting. In order to read or to use my laptop, I had to carry the one floor lamp back and forth from the living room to the bedroom. Stronger light bulbs would be helpful as well.This is on a main road with other upscale apartment buildings on the beach side. The area seemed safe, and I had no worries walking even by myself after dark within the nearby area.
