do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere- there are hidden fees, no place to sit in the rooms aside from a bed- Owners act like slumlords. If you are staying here to save money on your way elsewhere do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere. Place is way overpriced! $20 hidden cleaning fee is a joke!
Infested with BEDBUG!!!!!!!! My husband was staying here for over a month and just discovered a bedbug. He immediately moved out and when confronting the manager tried to tell my husband he brought that in (we have never had bed bugs. EVER) refused to give us our money back!!!!! Please PLEASE do not stay here!!!!!!
To begin, just know that I never before have given a bad review. I always consider the circumstances and make allowances for the price I paid. With that said....I checked in after hours @ 10:30pm. The owner (I assume) charged my card an extra $18 above the charges I paid on the website I booked it through (I was too tired from 11 hours of driving to question it), gave me the key cards and failed to give me the WiFi information, so I had to call the office once we were in the room. Anyway, there was no parking anywhere near my room. I had to leave all of our luggage at our room door so I could look for parking. I drove around a few times and when I did find a spot, it was all the way on the other end of the building hidden between two huge trucks. I felt uncomfortable that I couldn't see my vehicle from the hallway outside my room. Anyway, while walking back to my room there was an overwhelming smell of gasoline, I think coming from one of the many work trucks that occupied most of the parking spaces. And even worse, I was startled by a couple of roaches scurrying in front of me across the walkway (ewww). The building was in disrepair with holes in the walls and broken stucco. There were several old beat up bbqs and piles of debris scattered throughout the property and the outdoor trash cans were overflowing, very filthy. One good thing.... the coke and ice machines work! And all the work trucks were gone by the time I woke up at 8am! YAY! I was able to move to the space in front of our room and we happily loaded our luggage at our leisure. Breakfast was cereal, milk, coffee, muffins and packaged honey buns; typical continental. Our room.... The wiring of the fan in the bathroom was exposed and it didn't work and the carpet and a couple of the sofas were stained. But in all honesty, I was surprised that the room was cleaner than I expected after seeing the condition of the outside. The bed linens were clean, beds comfy, TV, refrigerator, WiFi, air conditioning, lights and single serve coffee maker worked. (I only had trouble falling asleep because I was afraid that the critters I met outside might make it into my room). They supplied toiletries and coffee stuff but no bathroom linens. I went to the front desk when I woke up in the morning to ask for them, he came back with 2 towels, I reminded him I had "nothing".... he scoffed and walked out the door to the housekeeping closet outside to fetch me what any paying guest should expect to have supplied in their room. I got my linens but could have done without the tude! :-P I have stayed in a lot of hotels/motels during my vacation travels and have only once before encountered a place where I felt so uncomfortable with my surroundings. The time before this, we inadvertently booked a hotel in the "tenderloin district" across from the ports of San Francisco (baaad!) but it was a real bargain! I think I would be more understanding if I only paid half a hundy for this room as I did in Frisco, but with the $18 (cleaning fee?) on top of what I paid through the website; I ended up paying a hundy plus 2. My complaint is that I paid more to stay in this place than I did for all the other hotels during this trip; Not only were they cheaper, nicer, cleaner and better taken care of; the office staff was friendlier and more professional. I am amazed, knowing the substandard conditions they are offering their guests that they would have the audacity to charge an extra $18 cleaning fee on top of their already overpriced rates! I can assume that they are probably in the middle of renovating, but in its present condition, I would recommend that they at least make an extra effort to clean up the mess outside, empty the trashcans, and above all, until they finish fixing this place up, they should lower their rates to give their guests a fair shake.
When we arrived we were charged $18 more than the website we booked through said. The man at the desk was confused and a woman’s stepped in. When asked about the fee, she said “I don’t know. I just do what I’m told” but paternity identified herself as the owner. We couldn’t get into the room so went back. She said the battery might be dead on the door and she would come in a few minutes because she was eating. We could hear another adult in the back screaming at kids the entire time. We insisted she let us in. She grumbled and finally agreed. Then reran the key through her machine and shamed us when it worked. We opted to leave because we were unwelcome. There was also an unfinished wall in the bathroom and a nail sticking out of the wall on the bedroom.
Booked into Budget Inn, trying to find room in the general SE New Mexico area. Due to heavy demand by oilfield workers, etc., weekday rooms are hard to find and at least double the typical price. Read some reviews on the Artesia Budget Inn ("clean" and so on), and decided to take a chance, and save some money (one of only a handful of rooms available in town at that time). After checking in at the desk, headed to dinner, returning around 7:30pm. Lot was pretty full, and many of the customers were out on the porches/walkways drinking beer. Beer cans already littering the lot, along with assorted food wrappers. Felt a bit uneasy entering room with two guys drinking next to my door, taking interest in my gear as I entered room. Went to lock the door: oh can't, the chain is broken, and the latch seems stuck. Oh great. The room was a "smoking room", and how. All the non-smoking rooms were booked. Whew. the stench almost knocked me over. As did the stained bedcover. As did the carpet repairs done with duct tape. As did the general disrepair of the room. As did the variety of insects on the walls. No alarm clock, no evidence of a wake-up service, a small single-serve coffee maker but with no coffee or supplies (my 5:00am wake-up plans seemed dicey at that point). TV worked but with sound permanently at a whisper and not responsive to remote. Slept fitfully, got up early and made haste to leave asap the next morning. Happiness is the Budget Inn in the rearview mirror. Photo of chair attached. Nice.
Drive up, old school hotel. Room was okay, fairly dated but bathrooms were nicer. I would expect to normally pay a lot less for this type of accommodation. However, all the hotels in this location are pricey, especially for what you get so you may want to consider staying in another location if that's an option. The hotel is along the main drag so it's convenient, but noisy. Fan in room helped cover up road noise.
I liked new rooms they have sold me last week. Price is little high for smaller hotel, keep it mind this is oil town big brand wants 3 times more money then this smaller hotel I stayed . I liked rooms they are clean and new.
I have mixed comments about this hotel. The bed was super comfortable, but there was no kleenex or hair dryer in the room, which we have come to expect in all rooms these days. We stayed two nights. The staff replenished the soaps, but did not replenish the in-room coffee. So I was somewhat disappointed.
This place was very clean and run by a wonderful family who took care of my every need I couldn't have asked for a better value!! It wasn't the Ritz, but it was very comfortable......I stayed 2 nights and the price was very reasonable!
This is smaller hotel. I can park in front of my room. Rooms are clean however its little older. They upgraded the place however it want be same as branded. When it comes Artesia there is limited choices for stay and seems this place has maintained the room conditions even with time passes on building.
