We visited the hotel this weekend just gone and really enjoyed our stay. We came for a weekend of leisure and that is defiantly what we got..Matthew one of the bar staff was very attentive and really nice to talk too, adding to the good service. Only bad thing was the lack of the nespresso machine we thought we were getting, however our stay was amazing nevertheless.

We chose this hotel for a one night stay after a party in the city centre. Check in was fast and efficient, room clean and quite large, breakfast good. This hotel is a little bit out of the city centre, but has an underground car park (chargable) which is handy, and the spa facilities make it good value for money. Most of the guests seemed to be groups of women when we stayed. Speedy checkout.

Booked a very expensive 3 night stay for my Wedding Anniversary- it was rugby weekend so the price was sky high. But it was a treat so I thought why not!! Wish I hadn’t bothered to be honest. I live in rural Mid Wales and visit Cardiff on occasion and often stay over night. Have stayed in other cardiff hotels and thought we’d have a change. The Mercure looks so lovely in the communal areas but that’s where it ends!! Arrived mid afternoon and managed to walk into a melee of men all drinking in the bar/events room. Wrong door. Had to ask for reception. Checked in to superior room. I must admit I was a little underwhelmed but ok. On closer inspection the curtains were hanging off the rail at the end. Not what you’d expect from a 4star hotel. The bathroom has seen better days and needs a damn good clean. The shower had all bits of black mold in the corners. The room was freezing cold and the bed was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in. Premier Inn would of been much better! But, the worst issue of all is the whole 3 nights I was there the housekeeping staff didn’t go to make my room up?!? The first day when we got back I had to go down to reception and ask for clean towels, toilet roll, etc. Thought ok it was a mistake even though I had to trundle through the foyer with these items when there was a function going on and people all dressed up so felt a little stupid! Next day same. So I went and moaned a little bit at reception and they sent someone up to do my room. But just not good enough. I’ve never had this happen before in any hotel. Anyway I could go on and on but won’t!! I complained on check out and was told to email the manager. I did - several times. No reply. I resorted to twitter to get a response. They said they’d replied and it’s gone into my junk folder - I checked it hadn’t. After numerous emails from me. I had a reply offering me a preferential rate on my next stay and a free upgrade. I said no thanks. I’m not staying again. I want some kind of refund. Eventually I got 20% back. Not much really considering the 3 nights cost me in excess of £600!! There are other hotels in Cardiff that are much better. I’ll never stay here again. The communal areas are lovely but they seemed to be more interested in the parties they had going on than actual guests.

Clean efficient and well run. Excellent pool, good food, drinks a bit pricy. Room was upgraded to superior, a nice surprise, excellent size, with seating area in addition to bathroom and good sized bed. Pool and spa area were well maintained.

We have just got back from a lovely two night stay at the Mecure Hotel, having booked a package deal including breakfast and evening meal and two amazing treatments each in the On site spa! We had a lovely stay the breakfast has everything anyone could want and the evening meal although limited on choice, delicious! ( you also have the option to upgrade to the normal Menu for £10) The bar is a little pricey, but when you have two wonderful members of staff like Matthew serving you, you really don't mind! The blonde girl (who had just returned since having her baby) These two both really made our stay extra special! With lots of laughs shared and are both an asset to this hotel. Matthew really should be running the place he was consistent, helpful not just on the bar but even when you occasionally saw him walking into work, and a professional who really takes pride in serving his drinks especially the cocktails and his attention to detail! If he lived a little closer I would love to have him working at my restaurant! Polite note : The restaurant supervisor (with the beard) really could do with some of the energy and enthusiasm that these two staff members have. The other members of the waiting restaurant team really were trying hard yesterday evening even when super busy still managed to crack a smile which alas he could not instead he spoke down to them, and really wasn't great to see, he wasn't much better with customer /guest requests either. Another polite note: The lady out on the front desk who passed us out bags at around 12:45pm today really was quite rude and it seemed a huge inconvenience for her. Again disappointing when the rest of the reception/front of house team were so pleasant especially Maria! The room was beautiful on the 10th floor with a great view! Cleaners were superb! Spa - CERYS! Excellent spa therapist - knowledgable, skilled and the best back massage I have ever had, a wonderful facial too, and really was so informative when I asked certain questions, she also knew when to let the conversation fade to really make sure you are completely relaxed! Another member of staff that was an excellent asset to this hotel! Spa steam room a little disappointing - needs a little upgrade to a tiled steam room- pool A little cold for my liking - but did the job! We will be returning over the next few moths. Thanks all! Lovely hotel, check in swift and receptionist really helpful (Kate) fab room on 11th floor to the front of the hotel and views were spectacular. Nice spacious bathroom, with separate tub and shower, huge comfortable bed and everything you needed, hair dryer, ironing board, iron and tea and coffe making facilities, also really useful a safe. We had breakfast each morning and it was well worth the money, hot food was replenished frequently so no luke warm food from hanging around, and plenty of other choices to start your day.We ate in the bar restaurant on our second night which was booked by a lovely lady on reception (Collette) the food was lovely and good value for the money £20 for 3 courses. Great stay in a really warm welcoming hotel, would have no hesitation in recommending to friends or family and am looking forward to my next visit

I have stayed here several times over the last few years and I do not have a bad comment to make. The staff incredibly friendly and rooms perfect for a city break. I advise becoming a member of the Accor group, I do not stay in anything but these hotels and I find the service is brilliant!

This is a lovely hotel only a few minutes walk from the shopping area of Cardiff and 10 minutes from the Prinicpality Stadium. The staff are friendly and polite. The room was spacious with some great views from the 11th floor over the city. The bar area is nice and relaxing. Breakfast is good but for the price of £357 for 2 nights, it would be nice to be served a hot pot of tea rather than pouring it yourself from a hot urn where the water isnt boiling. Also one of my hotel grudges is paying a premium price then paying an additional £24 to park my car under the hotel in their car park when i am a hotel guest. Is the £357 not enough when prices had already been increased due to it being rugby weekend!!

Booked a spa break (although when booking they didn’t mention deals so we had to book the hotel, then book the spa)! On arrival we spent ages queuing to check in despite checking in on line. The room was nice, clean and spacious but we only had towels for 1. This was sorted fairly quickly. The hotel is close to the centre of Cardiff and only a few minutes by taxi to the bay. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and it was very good as long as you didn’t want to order off the menu and were happy with the buffet. The bar wasn’t busy in the evenings ( possibly due the prices), we stocked up at Sainsbury’s down the road and stayed in our room. Limited parking at the hotel and we couldn’t get a space on our last night so had to park in a very dark street with restricted parking. Spa was good and the staff welcoming. The most redeeming feature of our stay!

We stayed at this hotel for a night out in Cardiff. The room was lovely, great facilities, superb bathroom and comfy bed. I had room service which was fairly pricey for a sandwich, but to be expected with the tray charge. Managed to get a space in the hotel carpark and proximity to town was a nice easy walk. Would stay again.
