Stayed here for 2 nights and had brilliant service. Friendly quick check in, free complimentary drinks for my husbands birthday, free use of the pool and sauna facilities and a good varied buffet style breakfast. Room service quick and after hours midnight sandwiches delicious. I think we may have had an upgraded room too as we booked a standard double but ended up in a huge room with probably a queen size bed (this may have been because it was a Sunday/Monday stay so don’t expect this, but it was a pleasant surprise). Thank you :)
Stayed here for only 1 night on business. All in all a friendly check-in service with no issues occurring. I was floor 5, with good views across Cardiff and towards the docks. The spa facilities looked good, but unfortunately I did not have time to use these. The bar was comfortable and relaxing on floor 1. The room was good, but obviously through repeated use had some tired points especially in the bathroom - but this is to be expected. Otherwise all other room facilities were good - no complaints.
Back from a reunion, would not rate Mercure Cardiff as 4 star, very dated furniture in a superior room, woken up by fire alarm at 6am, rush downstairs from 11th floor after trying to call reception with no answer, was told it was false alarm but still had to climb up stairs back to 11th floor, other guests complained that it was not 1st time in 3 days stay!! Stair case full of dirt and rubbish as we walked up and down, I call that unattended and dirt collected for months !! Paid £40 each for a special meal, had stated months in advance we are non meat eaters but we do eat fish, we were served chopped up lettuce for starter, some stale veggie pastry with mashed potatoes and bits of carrots and peas for main, and 3 scoops of tasteless icy sorbet for dessert! Didn't want to trouble the organiser for the reunion as he had tried several months to put this together, otherwise would have complained to the manager!! Will not be back to this Mercure, I had stayed in many Accor hotels, and most 3 stars like Ibis Styles in other countries have done much better!!! Mercure Cardiff needs an update to be called 4 stars!! I would say the staff had been efficient and pleasant though!! Well done to the staff!!
I won't write my life story; it's 1 star because 1. Room was dirty 2. Kettle had something growing in it 3. Nightmare to park 4. Bed left like it had rocks in it 5. It would be more comfortable to use a tea bag as a pillow 6. Don't give guests priority for parking 7. Hand towels were dirty 8. No towels in the room- only robes 9. Windows are filthy
Had a great stay last weekend, everything was perfect from start to finish. Keeping 9 ladies happy isn’t always easy :) Thank you to Bradley & Calvin for your fabulous hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to come back soon.
Had a wonderful and warm welcome for an afternoon meal for my grandmother's birthday. Service was excellent. Was waited on by a lovely lady called Paige who did her best to make the occasion memorable. Would definitely recommend this place for special occasions.
Absolutely appalled. Woken up at 6am by fire alarm in the Mercure Holland in Cardiff this morning. I did take the time to put coat and shoes on and duly evacuated down 12 floors to the fire assembly point along with many other guests. No sign of a staff member or fire warden. Everyone just milling around in the street waiting for fire truck or even a warden to let us know what was going on. nothing. Suddenly a group of people moved back into the hotel...within minutes only Deb and I left at assembly area. I rang the hotel, asking what is going on. False alarm he said. I said not good enough, I want to hear from the fire warden that it is safe to return. He said he would send someone out. No one came. Call me paranoid, but I rang the fire service. No, no one has checked it from our service...we only come if the hotel calls us, I can ring and check with the hotel, and I’ll report your concerns to the fire business service. Bloody hell, I thought these things were automatic to keep us safe. Absolute failure on behalf of Accor in following fire procedures and protocols. Nothing learned from Grenfell, money is obviously more important than peoples lives. Staff have been receptive to our needs when asked, but our room was not made up when we were out today, though they say they will do it when we are out later. Would not come back.
Lovely room and very nice reception welcome . Lovely pool and spa. Great vegetarian sausages at breakfast . Chef was lovely Only downside was that no one cleaned our room during the 2 night stay . I did call house keeping and they did send someone straight away.
Recently stayed at the mercure on an overnight 2 day break in Cardiff. We had a corner room on the 7th floor with a 180 view over our City. The room was very clean and huge so much space . Bath and a shower . Staff were fab, even tho we didnt use the pool or gym its free to use. The hotel bar is spacious and relaxing , tho its a bit pricey as you would expect. Easy 5min walk to Queen st station for a train (every 12 min ) to the Bay to see the sights and enjoy fab places to eat and drink. The hotel is so quiet no noise from adjoining rooms or outside . I will be back . Well done Mercure. Ive attended day conferences here and was impressed with the Hotel. I decided then to book and i was not sorry . A good hotel in need of a slight revamp in style but clean with good fascilities great roomy rooms. A great base to enjoy our wonderfull City
Two of us stayed overnight en route from visiting family in West Wales. It was very friendly and welcoming and great value for money. It is in a very convenient location for the City Centre and other amenities such as the station. We would definitely stay again.
