Giardino Ascona

Ascona was the first place I visited in Switzerland. After staying for a long time in Russia (it was really cold and rainy in Saint-Petersburg that time), we moved to lake view instead. More of a summer view of Switzerland with calm lake water and green mountains on the background. We were staying in Giardino Ascona Hotel for one day (we were supposed to live there for 2 days, but we were late). It is comfortable, friendly and in a superb spot sandwiched between the town and a golf course. Honestly, Giardino Ascona Hotel has become one of my favorite among other mainly because… because of EVERYTHING. First things first, the location is perfect. It’s two minutes from the Lake Maggiore, the second largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland. So, we enjoyed our evenings walking by the lake. Second things second, It is extremely beautiful from the architectural point of view. You can say that you have the Italian beauty and savoir-faire jointly with the Swiss quality being the result very impressive. Third things third, it combines a laid-back ambiance, a high-level of service and a charismatic design to a place of Mediterranean savoir-vivre. Breath, relax, stroll, chill, move, marvel or enjoy – this Soul Retreat provides undiluted relaxation with a character in the Ticino, the Italian part of Switzerland. We arrived at the Hotel very late, and I could barely keep my eyes open after all of my flights, that I was expected to sleep at least two days (and of course, to stay in our room). But a miracle happened – 5 hours was enough for me to sleep off. I slept like a rock there! I’m sure fresh air played the role. Our morning started with a perfect breakfast. I must admit that I forgot about my diet and chose to try all Swiss dishes at the restaurant. We spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool, where we were given ice-cold towels to refresh. It was fantastic! To sum up, the Giardino Hotel is just fabulous in every aspect. The staff is extraordinary and super nice, food is great quality and just generally everything there screams taste, quality, and tranquility.

The reason that I would encourage another hotel is the location. The hotel is nice but it is a 35-40 minute walk to the promenade and lake where everything is happening. We visited in June and the property is fine but there is nothing around the hotel. The environs are residential streets, and unless you want to hang at the spa or swim in the pool, the location is inconvenient. Additionally, I don't think the 2000 CHF we paid for 2 nights in a suite was a worthwhile investment. The rooms were ok, but not modern and the wifi didn't work on the balcony of our room. The staff were friendly and food (breakfast) was fine, but the location for me was an inconvenience. It was very hot and walking was not a good option...so you either ride their bikes and leave in town, ( also a sweaty proposition) or cab back and forth (they have a shuttle that runs at designated times).

This hotel is a short walk from the shores of Lake Maggiore in Ascona. It sits in extensive and well tended grounds. The rooms, fittings and general feel of the place are all high quality, well maintained and spotlessly clean. Our room was lovely with a nice balcony and a wonderful bed. Quality toiletries and linens as expected at this premium end of the market. The hotel has a lovely indoor and outdoor pool as well as a nice spa complex. Breakfast must rate among the best ever in any hotel in the world, and we have sampled a fair few! Expensive - yes, but an absolute treat!

My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days at this hotel. Our room was lovely, the service was fantastic, and Lake Maggiore was just a short walk or bike ride from the hotel. I must be gluten free and both restaurants made sure that I had wonderful options. The dinner at Ecco was unforgettable.

Wonderful facility. Best hotel beds. Very clean and tidy rooms. Excellent food. Every staff member makes you feel like a #1 guest. I know no better hotel. The Giardino has stuck to its values and excelled from year to year. This is the perfect place to spend a few days with your beloved ones. Am looking forward to returning soon.

The Giardino really stands out. Best in class food, amazing breakfast buffet, great facilities such as pool (indoor and outdoor), gym and soccer field. You also can rent bikes for free to discover the lakeside of Ascona. It just takes you 20 minutes from the hotel to Ascona. Their concierge can organise any kind of table a the hot spot restaurants in Ascona

We visited this superb lake town in the second half of September, 2016 which is just the beginning of Autumn. The Giardino Hotel was just fabulous in every respect. However a special mention and appreciation of the Concierge service is a must.

This wonderful hotel simply wreaks of class. Comfortable, friendly and in a superb spot sandwiched between the town and a golf course. The food was fabulous and the whole experience was perfectly memorable.

Beautiful location on quaint Ascona. Excellent service, you cannot overstate this. The food was extraordinary. Next to a golf club. The location is nice but not particularly set to go for a walk and run into restaurants as it is a good two miles from downtown. Luxurious and romantic.

The Hotel is very well located at Lake Maggiore (although it is not located exactly at the border of the lake). It is extremely beautiful from the architectural point of view. You can say that you have the Italian beauty and savoir faire jointly with the Swiss quality being the result very impressive. The interior gardens also had an excellent architect include an artificial lake with tropical flora, a lovely fountain integrated in another small lake near the pool and are surrounded by a luxurious vegetation mainly from the region mixed with a few tropical species and a few fountains. and. Both the pool area and the restaurants are well integratedl and and transmit a sense of semi tropical relaxation. If guests deserve to relax in the gardens and be isolated they succeed easily. During the night the lighting highlights the beauty of the garden and the surrounding buildings. The restaurants are very good and the service is friendly and efficient since you arrive at the parking of the hotel until you leave. The rooms layout are good some with varandas other with small private gardens. The decoration is modern with well chosen colours and the air condition is good. For us the only negative aspects were that the rooms have very low ceilings and the beds including the pillows are not confortable meaning the sleep quality is average. I also have to highlight that the prices are high taking into consideration the size of the rooms interior living space.
