This is not a hotel. It is an accommodation service. Studio met our needs: cooking facilities for breakfast, sofa, parking, wifi, edge of Canberra to facilitate early morning trip south. Every thing very clean, some furniture worn, other appears new. Good heating. No electric blanket but that did not matter. We were in S3. Only one poorly located window. This did not matter to us for an overnight stay when we were really only in the room in the dark. Apart from a phone call the day before to check we had received all check-in instructions (door code, etc) no person contact. Very efficient.
This place was small and not very nice for over 200 bucks a night. It has a couple of tiny bed rooms and a kitchenette which was sad. The washroom was a joke and to pay more than my monthly rent for three nights stay and this dump is just sad. I wouldn't be staying here again and can't recommend it at the price we paid. Really bad deal. Location was ok.
Pleasantly surprised. Great price. The room was clean, comfortable and had great amentities. It is not a 5 star accommodation but they never advertise that. The bathroom and kitchen facilities all looked like they had just been upgraded. The location was great for me. I would have no hesitation staying there again. The no face to face contact etc is becoming more popular which allows the owners keep prices down. It does take some getting use to but really it does work.
We booked on line, location and price were good. All future contact was electronic, no face to face contact. We were given an access code by text. On entry we walked into a long low ceilinged dark hall. On entering our "Apartment" we found it to be smaller than almost any Motel we have ever stayed in. It is necessary to have the light switched on at all times. Facilities were cramped and minimal. The unit need painting and generally refurbishing. There was only 1 window and that was in the bathroom which was tiny and only just enough space for one small person to shower and dry oneself no hanging space! There was also a door leading to an enclosed space which was dirty and closed in so that there was no outlook. Suitable for a desperate smoker! It is well located and cheap.
Canberra Short Term & Holiday Accommodation is ideally located for sightseeing in Canberra. We spent a night there recently when we travelled up to Canberra for a medical appointment. We had a standard room which was tiny and looked very dated. The kitchenette was well equipped, however. The bathroom was tiny, with barely enough room to manoeuvre between the shower screen and the vanity unit to get to the toilet. A large person would find it really annoying. The hot water was great - plenty of it and no problem adjusting the temperature. The bed was not the most comfortable as it sagged in the middle and was too soft for our liking. Our room was downstairs, and we were disturbed during the night when a family arrived in the room above us. The plumbing noise was quite bad and we could hear everything being said - including the cries of the young baby! Looking back, I went for price, but I think I would have preferred the quality to be a little higher.
We stayed at this place because we had little choice - there was a major sporting event on in Canberra, during school holidays - but even then we were not prepared for how thoroughly disappointing it was. It was pokey, poorly appointed and cold. The other inhabitants, the spiders in the corners of a couple of the rooms, seemed happy enough though. Doubly insulting were the facts that they insist on full payment up-front when you book, with no possibility of change or refund, and they stuff the unit with numerous notes about how you'll be charged extra if you so much as breathe in the wrong direction. Have they not noticed the filth-encrusted exhaust fan in the bathroom, which doesn't even work? And contrary to the name of the place they do not charge budget prices, or at least they didn't at the time we booked. This is probably the worst value accommodation I have stayed at in all of Australia. I just wish I had read the two other Tripadvisor reviews of this place before I booked - they are absolutely spot-on. It's a rip-off. Avoid!
The worst place I've ever been too !! filthy cutlery, filthy bedding, unprofessional staff, rude and arrogant !! I will never again !! Not helpful ! Drew money from my credit card $800 and I'd never stayed there at that time canceled booking 2 days before hand but still would not refund my $800 thieves !!
On the night I had to stay in Canberra, this was pretty much the only place available. Little thought has gone into the name of the property, and similarly little thought has gone into the place itself. There's no front desk. You get an e-mail before you arrive, giving you a code to get into a block, and giving you your room number. Your room is unlocked, and the key is on the table. You don't meet anyone during the stay. The block is OK - like one of those motels where murders happen on US TV shows - with a clean corridor. And there is free parking. But the room was depressing. It was dark - the only window was in the bathroom, although there was also a glass door at the far end of the kitchen, which let very little light into the room. The bed had sheets and an old blanket - no duvet / doona. There was an all-pervading smell of stale cooking oil. I think maybe there'd been a chip-pan fire at some point in the past. The smell was really the overwhelming characteristic of the room. Everything else was just thrown together - the cheapest available table and chair, very old kitchen equipment, and a bed. WiFi was free, but wobbly. The whole thing just gave the impression of being run by people who couldn't be bothered.
