Very impressed with the Rex. They have done an amazing makeover of this hotel. We recently stayed in a Crown Suite for 2 nights. The reception staff are warm & welcoming. Rooms are modern & spacious as are the bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. My only suggestion in regards to housekeeping would be they attend a quick vacuum when they serviced our room due the crumbs on the floor post a few afternoon nibblies. WiFi & parking also complimentary. Breakfast was included in our rate & was buffet style with a modest selection of hot & cold dishes such as bacon, eggs, cereal & pastries. The rooftop bar has 2 levels & the decor is right on point. Drinks a little expensive & not much of a view as yet with the light rail under construction but if you can look past this it has a fabulous vibe with friendly staff. We will be back.
Our annual pilgrimage to Canberra, with our ever growing group of couples, was the best yet due to our amazing stay at Canberra Rex Hotel. The spacious and tastefully decorated rooms were of a 5 star standard and one of the finest I have had the pleasure of occupying. The staff were friendly and most helpful. The cocktails on the rooftop bar were of a high quality and made by experienced mixologists and the view was breathtaking. Great vibe. We will not stay anywhere else now we've experienced the Canberra Rex and their staff.
Well. Our nations capital, at its finest. The Rex is definitely the place to stay. Clean, modern and spacious rooms. Good dining & rec facilities. Do yourselves a favour, stay here. You will not be disappointed.
We had booked for 2 nights to break up our drive from Albury to Batemans Bay . We had a King Room on the 2nd floor . The room was not large but was adequate . Only 1 chair . The fridge was inside a Cupboard and consequently was overheating and struggling to work . This happens at a lot of Hotels , Fridges work much better if they have Air circulating around them to dissipate the hot Air generated by the Compressor . The Bed was very comfortable and apart from the flashing light from the Smoke detector we had a good nights sleep . Breakfast was a Buffet in the Restaurant . Not a Huge choice but pretty good quality and complimentary Newspapers was a bonus . We were out sight seeing from 9 am and got back to our room at 3:15 pm . Very disappointed to find our Room had not been serviced . My Wife noticed a Housekeeper in the Corridor and informed her of the problem , she said she would see to it straight away . We went to the Lobby to read. Sitting in the Lobby , reading was very distracting as there was piped music playing which was fairly loud and continually playing the same 2 songs . I counted the songs were played 7 times each in 30 minutes . We had enough and went back to our room and found the Housekeeper had been true to her word and the room had been serviced , although some aspects left a lot to be desired especially the Shower screen had soap scum over the glass and the room had not been Vacuumed . We had Dinner in the Restaurant and were surprised at the High cost however this is Canberra . The fact that only one other table was occupied tells a story . The food was average .
Good room for business trip. Plenty of space for a desk and to spread out. It's older but done up nicely. We had a one bedroom suite which looked over the back street, so a little noisy on a Friday night with people walking home, but all in all a good stay. They have a nice lap pool and gym. The breakfast is good.
This is a lovely old hotel that has been very nicely updated with friendly staff, it has a wonderful buffet breakfast, the rooms were very nice and clean with complimentary toiletries that smelt wonderful, I would recommend this hotel. We stayed in a king suite which was great with the extra space.
The Rex Hotel has done a great job on its website making this facility appear to be modern and sleek. It has been renovated that’s true - but very cheaply. The twin room we stayed in was tiny and the bar fridge was empty. This was surprising given they requested a $150 security deposit in case we used the mini bar! The refund on this security deposit will take 3 -7 days I was informed when I booked out. Their breakfast is modest but tasty. The pool and gym area is a trek if you are in the main building. The staff are friendly but like the place a little frayed around the edges. Better places to stay in Canberra.
Husband and I stayed here for my 50th birthday and went to Mama Mia. Had a lovely stay at the Rex. Room was lovely, bed super comfy!! Which is a must for me. The staff were really nice, efficient and were happy to go the extra mile for us. Wifi was poor. Only a few minutes from CBD. Breakfast was sensational! Plenty of off street parking.
Stayed for a week in Rex Canberra. Good Hotel. Best part is City Center is just minutes of walk. Friendly staff. Clean and excellent amenities. Rooms are of good size. Loved the swimming pool. Great breakfast options. Wish them the God Speed.
Only knocking off a star because they charge for espresso or latte etc at breakfast - the only inclusive option is black coffee, and for a business hotel that seems a little tight. Great room, nice and spacious, with private bathroom. Unusually for our Australia trip breakfast is included, and we absolutely loved it - every day had a little variety, there was everything from lychees to poached eggs and spinach. Getting there is straightforward from the railway station - bus 200 brings you pretty close then it's a 10 min walk. Once Canberra completes the light rail (supposed to be 2018...) this will be even easier to get to. And don't forget the free loop bus that does a circuit from a parallel street, which could save you some pennies - and shoe leather! We used the pool which is sort of next door to the hotel (they supply big towels but if you're shy or get cold easily, bring a robe as you have to leave the hotel reception and scuttle down to it). Pool is small and narrow and shallow, but free to use so I'm not complaining at all- it wouldn't be suitable for serious swimmers but it's fine to get a few gentle lengths done in. Great hotel overall, staff incredibly friendly and helpful, printing things for us etc.
