Canberra Rex Hotel & Serviced Apartments

So I arrived at the Rex hotel tonight and there was no parking available and I went to my room to have a shower and the shower was broken but I did get an upgrade which was nice of the lady and if you want to use the pool you have to go out of the building like it's silly

We love this hotel for so many reasons, we always buy a suite, which is fantastic, the buffet breakfast is included and is wonderful , all the staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. You would swear you were in a 5 class hotel, but the rates here are very reasonable. The entrance is impressive, they have beautiful areas for conferences with modern audio facilities. As a bonus they also provide free parking!, in Canberra parking is non existent! We hate Canberra but LOVE The Rex. The only criticism any of us have had is the dinner, it's very ordinary, wish they would get a new chef, maybe the breakfast guy?

Amazing venue for our strategic planning days. I was fortunate to have the one bedroom apartment, simply amazing, well appointed great view of black mountain amazing indoor pool great service. The bed was amazing, great food at the event dinner and our coach driver was fantastic with a rockstar style executive coach with leather seats and USB wifi to top it off. Simply the event venue to book in Canberra.

The room was fresh and modern. Great meal via room service. Free car parking was greatly appreciated. The service could have been better. Steak meal at the restaurant was great. Buffet breakfast was ok.

The last time we visited the Rex it took 5 weeks to get the refund of the deposit- despite a guarantee of 3 days. We took 5 months before we ventured back and yet again the refund is late. I contacted the bank and they blame the hotel. The service was terrible , my concerns about waiting for the refund ignored. Don't recommend staying !

Great hotel to use as base while in Canberra. Tastefully renovated with modern spacious rooms. Easy walk to funky Braddon which is filled with boutique breweries, wine bars and coffee shops. Good parking on site and on street. Delicious breakfast. Only drawback was the walk between buildings in order to access pool and gym. Otherwise, a great spot to stay.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 3 nights and it was a very comfortable stay. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Amazing bed and pillows. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and looked brand new. Complimentary washing liquid was provided for use with the washing machine and dryer. My only complaint was the traffic noise which could be heard from 8th floor, although in Canberra it's not all night! There is light rail construction on the street but that stops by 4. It's a 10 min walk to lots of eateries and shops at Braddon. Quick drive to Floriade. I didn't use public transport so I can't comment on ease of use but it will dramatically improve when the light rail is completed. You need a car to get to some of the sights.

Pros: Comfy bed and bedding. Clean and modern. Good TV. Cons: Our room was at the back of the hotel and it was noisy up until around midnight and started again at 7am. In the morning we saw a flatbed truck under our window so they must have been loading/offloading some things. The bright blue lights on the plug sockets are cool, but not when you're sleeping. Didn't sleep well but only had to put up with for 1 night.

Our group found the Rex comfortable and convenient. The rooms were clean with all facilities including tea and coffee making facilities. The corridors were not vacuumed as often as should be. The desk staff were not always helpful. Breakfasts were good with variety. It did not take long to get around to all the places we wanted to see and when the light rail is complete, the location will be even better. As a twin share the eds were very narrow.

We stayed overnight as we went to Floriade. The hotel is lovely and staff very professional. It is only a 35minute walk to Floriade. Easy hotel to get to as it is on northbourne rd the road that heads into canberra
