The photographer who took the snaps for this hotel deserves credit as they optimise what you see before you get there!! It's on the corner of lisieux in no man'a land near a busy industrial estate and has a bit of a travel tavern feel inside. The rooms are comfortably appointed and a good size; ours had an internal door to muffle more of the sound further between the bathroom which was a nice touch. They are however a bit tired inside and worse, the hallways are very dark and glum looking. Could definitely do with a lick of paint. The dinner and breakfast options are very good however. They offer a buffet as a starter which honestly is everything you could ever want as a main meal which you can twin with a buffet dessert that is really very reasonable. Breakfast too is plentiful. Resources inside in terms of games etc. Are a bit limited but there are a couple of pool tables. There is a pool but it is both small and uninviting. Biggest bugbear for us was that the previous room occupants were smoking out of the window in the loosest sense of the word and hence our room stank of cigarette smoke. They were full so couldn't / wouldn't move us which was a shame but we were just stopping on the way through so no major disaster.
Used to pass by this hotel on the way to our holiday Gite in Le Mésnil Imbert, but this time we were just passing through to pick up some Cider, pommeau, Poiré and Calvados. Excellent hotel, very attentive staff. Hotel rooms were air conditioned and there is an excellent, if small outdoor pool to cool of in. Good secure parking available on site. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone requiring a stay in Lisieux or the surrounding area.
I stayed four nights as part of a pensioners' coach party. My room was clean and had a good supply of toiletries and provided me with sound sleeping. The seating and lounge in the general area were comfortable and allowed friends to get together for drinks and chat. Wifi was good in this area, but slow in my room. There was an adequate choice for breakfast and the food satisfied me. However, there was no menu choice for dinner and portions were small; service was poor: women at my table were not served first, plates and glasses were removed before some had finished, and it took a long time to offer alternatives to some with special dietary needs, e.g. diabetes. On arrival no ones key cards worked: they needed reprogramming. There was no safe in my room and when I requested to use one in reception, I was told that the manager would be away for a few days and that I would be unable to retrieve my items. I reported that the TV remote and the refrigerator in my room did not work; only the remote was repaired.
After arriving late we booked in, the room was clean but very warm, as the room was on the ground floor as the rooms on the upper floors have aircon. There is a kettle with tea and coffee, bathroom is a good size and clean, the bed was very comfortable, there is a hypermarket within walking distance, the breakfast and evening meal was good drink prices were a little expensive, all in all I would recommend this hotel. It even has an outdoor swimming pool.
We were a group of 80 traveling to Normandy and had a wonderful stay at the Mercure hotel. It is very clean and the meals were excellent. What sets it apart is the service though. One of our students left his passport at the hotel and the hotel went above and beyond to help us. Highly recommended.
We have used this hotel many times over the last twenty years and found it to be a very friendly and accommodating hotel. We particular like the buffet arrangements. The staff have changed over time but the attention and friendliness have remained at a very high standard.
We stayed here for one night as a family en-route to the Le Havre ferry. The staff were very efficient and customer-oriented, a pleasure to be served well. The room and food were good value for money, and the informal set-up of the dining and reception areas worked well for us.
We arrived mid afternoon after a leisurely drive from Mont Saint Michel through the rolling countryside. Thehotel was a great place to spend the night and their restaurant provided a wonderful dinner for us. The room they assigned us was on the second floor but when we tried the electronic key the room would not open. We then went back to the helpful reception fellow and got another which also failed to open the door so then we were automatically upgraded to a two bedroom apartment on the same floor. The room was, well roomy, and the decor was more subdued than the general areas of the hotel, which were a little garish to be honest. It was a comfortable place to stay for the night and their food for dinner and breakfast was first class.
We did a Crusader coach tour and stayed at The Mercure Hotel in Lisieux as how base, with a day at Monet's house and garden, a day on the coast visiting Honfleur, and Deauville, and a day in Rouen. We were unsure if The Mercure was going to be ok, having stayed at The mercure in Norwich, and was very disappointed. But no real complaints, the room was very clean, the breakfast and evening meals were very good, Most of the staff were pleasant and friendly, the only reason I give it 4 and not 5 , would be two of the waitress and waiter the younger ones looked so unhappy, never smiling , and got the wrong approach.Overall a good few days away thank you.
Modern chain of hotels. We arrived and key issuing quick. When the four of us who had booked togther we went down to evening meal to be told there were four tables for our tour party and everone else sat down and we tried to sit at a free table for 4 we were not very rudely that we had to fill in the gaps. I on one table, my wife on another table and our two friends on another. The driver tried to help but was sent away. All other tables were unoccupied all night. It was like being at school. Actually on positive side the food was very good with self service and buffet starters and choice 2 main courses which did not run out. You had to go up to the bar to get wine to drink with meal service very slow and young femail staff not interested. Very small glasses 125ML and only half filled. Later in week some males were serving, quick and glasses filled. Bedrooms on 2nd floor very hot at night, air conditioning too noisy. I suspect coach people pay little. Supermarket 10 walk away (L'Clereq).
