My wife and I decided to spend a little extra on a 2-day vacation and go to the Dan Caesarea. The moment we entered our room our hearts dropped. It felt unclean. There was bird's muck along the balcony (see photo) which along with dirty windows and mess that had not been cleaned. I asked management for a different room. I was told they were full but could offer a down-grade. I was also told by the manageress that it's an old hotel and all rooms are like that. (Why didn't their prices reflect that I thought). I was shown a smaller room with a toilet in a small cubicle with no windows. We decided to stay put. The manager, who claimed we couldn't get a refund nor be relocated, apologized and offered us a fruit platter and a free dinner. We accepted hoping that we would start to settle-in and feel better. Returning to our room we noticed more dirt. Hair on towels (photo), squashed insects on walls (photo) and dust on the kettle and phone (photo). The hotel had clearly cut corners. I wanted out. I approached reception the next morning at 7:00am hoping to make a clean break and start enjoying our holiday. I wanted a full refund. Only a manager could decide I was told. Management turned up at 9:00am. This time the manager was rude and aggressive. He offered us a 25% refund. No! $240 for a filthy unhygienic room was unacceptable to me. They would not budge. We left without breakfast, spent our last day in another hotel where we had an amazing time.

Good breakfast. Bed was not very good. The 3rd person, who paid full price, had to sleep on a very uncomfortable sofa. Check the small print on you order, they slashed me with an extra taxation after telling me that I didn't have to pay anything extra.

Hotel is a bit old-fashioned, yet quite clean and the rooms are quite large. Front desk and dining room service were prompt and courteous. The bed was very comfortable, and we could see the sea from the balcony. Food was delicious, but we were surprised that no wine was offered at dinner (although when prodded, the waiter did offer two choices, and quoted a price).

We stayed at the Dan for a wedding in Caesarea. We loved the pool area: it's large and peaceful (they even have an adults-only section with chairs in the water), and they provide giant towels that cover the chair, which was a nice touch we didn't see anywhere else. The breakfast was extensive and delicious, and included espresso drinks, not just plain hot coffee. It's pretty well located if you're spending time in Caesarea, just a few minutes to the ruins and restaurants on the water. The rooms are very large, and the balconies are nice. However, the rooms are also in desperate need of a renovation, the bathroom in particular. The toilet is a true W.C.--a separate closet that just fits the toilet, and you then have to exit it, walk back into the bedroom, and loop around into the sink/shower room. There's plenty of space in there for a toilet so it's unclear why it was designed this way. The hairdryer is also that ancient tube kind that looks like a vacuum. The layout is generally strange, both of the room and the hallways. This would be the perfect place to escape and relax if the rooms were modernized!

The Dan Caesarea is a resort hotel. The pool and surrounding grounds are beautiful. The golf course is challenging. The ride to the beach is not long, and the area is beautiful. The hotel is clean and fairly modern looking. When we were there, the lobby was pretty much always deserted. Even the front desk was staffed with only one person. Our room was fairly standard for an Israeli hotel. The size was hardly palatial, but that is pretty much always the case in Israel. The room was, however, large enough to be very comfortable. The bed was large and comfortable. The free coffee and tea bar could have been better stocked. Our balcony was a good size and over looked the pool area. We loved the fact that there was a lovely welcome letter on a table in the room. On the table was our welcome gift- a personal size bottle of water. Wow. Broke the bank on that one! Our only complaint regarding the room was that no matter what we did, we could not control the air conditioning. In the middle of the night, we gave up and just shut it off. We had tried earlier in the day, but nothing seemed to work. Our room was on the 6th floor. The elevator only goes to the 5th floor, and then you walk up one flight to the 6th. The halls zigzags rather narrowly. The dining room is clean, if boring. Aesthetically, there is nothing to recommend it. The buffet is small and not very enticing. When we were there, there was a dearth of hot food at the breakfast buffet. Also, 45 minutes after opening, the fry table where eggs are made to order was still not open. The salads were uninspiring and not very colorful. The prepared scrambled eggs were watery. The shakshuka came in only one style- spicy. The bread table was woefully under supplied. Several times, people stood in line at the coffee bar due to the fact that the barista had stepped away for the moment. Would we go again? We can not think of any reason why we would. For the cost, it just was not worth it.

The staff were friendly and happy to cater to our needs. My room was large and clean. WIFI, a view of the Mediterranean Sea and lovely grounds added to an enjoyable stay. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The hotel was close to the sea, offering may interesting sights and very nice restaurants in the area. Of course, a golf course across the street is a draw for golfers. The waiter in the bar area was exceptional~sorry I did not catch his name.

Pros: nice staff, good location, ample parking and recreation area. Cons: needs renovation, wi-fi not the best, though a week before passover we were notified that no bread will be served at breakfast, insufficient room amenities (e.g. lack of hotel flip-flops)

The staff is welcoming and accommodating, the restaurant food and staff are beyond magnifique, the amenities are perfect for families, the location is close to major city centers and beach. The rooms are good, especially the ones with larger balcony on 5th floor. The toiletries are great quality and smell for the superior rooms. Aside from that, it's the noisiest hotel I've ever been in my life. We booked two rooms and both were impossible to sleep. The kids and my husband managed to sleep because they sleep over anything. Myself and a friend stayed up all night. Even day time is a party house with all kids and guests loudly walking playing talking screaming...

The quality and choices for Breakfast was wonderful,as as the staff in the dining room. Sleeping room was okay, hotel really needs to be updated, but it was clean. Only drawback was check in staff, not welcoming at all.

I stayed 4 days with my wife for work reasons. We enjoyed the stay: the conference room neat and well equipped, the rooms spacious and clean. The food very well served, varied and very well prepared. Pool very well maintained, spa very small but nice. The gym with few modest appliances. The big problem is that the air conditioning is central and in the room there are no possibilities of choice: it only cools or only heats, so we suffer from heat. The option was to sleep with open windows ...
